Reborn Through Fire
Chapter 337 Maâam Seems to Be in a Lot of Pain Most of the time, Gilbert refused to admit that Jensen was better than him.
However, he had to admit that Jensen was better than him this time.
âJensen knows how to do everything. Heâs even able to bandage a wound this meticulously.
Meanwhile, I canât even cook properly. Whatever. Iâm going to stop thinking about it. The more I think about it, the more awful I feel,â thought Gilbert.
He quietly set the spaghetti on the dining table and called the children over to eat.
Andrew went beside him and whispered, âDaddy, Maâam seems to be in a lot of pain. She even cried just now.â
âIs that so?â
Gilbert felt even worse after hearing Andrewâs words.
âThis woman had never cried in pain in front of me. However, she never suppresses her emotions in front of Jensen. Hah⦠This must be the difference between the way she treats Jensen and me,â he thought.
Andrew did not know what was going on in her fatherâs head. She grabbed his fatherâs hand and said, âDaddy, youâll have to coax Maâam after Uncle Jensen leaves. That way, sheâll surely still like you.â
Ada nodded beside her, âAndrewâs right. Daddy, you need to be like Uncle Jensen. Smile a little more gently. Then Maâam will stop asking you to leave.â
âEven if I learn to smile gently like Jensen, Iâll never be Jensen. Sheâll also never smile nor treat me nicely and pleasantly,â Gilbert thought selfâdepreciatingly.
âItâs done,â Jensen said as he put away the medical kit. Then, he said to Kisa earnestly, âFor the next few days, donât get water on your wound. You should also be careful when youâre shooting.â
Kisa nodded and turned to Gilbert.
âWhatâre you still doing here? Youâre done making the spaghetti. Why arenât you leaving?â she urged.
Gilbert pursed his lips and did not respond. His expression darkened once again.
Andrew ate his spaghetti quietly as he carefully observed their expressions.
A moment later, he said to Gilbert, âDaddy, Iâm thirsty. Could you please get me some water?â
Gilbert did not answer and went to get a glass of water.
However, Kisa did it before he could.
She placed the glass of water in front of Andrew before turning to Gilbert icily, âMy house is small, and youâve seen all of it, so you really can leave now. If youâre worried about the children, you could also take them with you.â
âDonât be like that, Maâam,â Ada immediately pouted while looking at Kisa with a wronged expression.
Since Kisa could not bear the wronged looks of the children, she quickly shifted her gaze onto Gilbert.
Regardless, her gaze remained icy.
Gilbertâs fists by his sides were gripped tightly.
Hah. Is my presence really such an eyesore to her?â Gilbert thought.
âKisa, if he wants to stay for a while, just let him stay. Itâs been a while since the three of us got together.â
âHe and I have no reason to be near each other,â Kisa said disdainfully, Jensen pursed his lips and did not respond. He calmly grabbed a glass and poured himself some water.
He moved around the house so casually; it was a blatant show of intimacy between him and the woman.
Gilbert narrowed his eyes dangerously. Then, he flashed a half smile at Jensen, âKisa and I met a woman called Mia Fallon today. She was with a child named Blake Kooper. You know them, right?
Jensen?â
Jensen paused from drinking his water.
He replied indifferently, âI know them. Theyâre very special friends of mine.â
âFriends?â Gilbert chuckled. âJust friends, really?â
âThatâs enough!â
