Reborn Through Fire
Chapter 534 Iâm a Divorced Man There was an elderly woman about the age of his grandmother and a middleâaged couple sitting in the living room. Sharon was coming out of the kitchen with some dishes. They were those people whom Gilbert least wanted to meet.
As he turned around to leave, Madalyn stepped in front of him. âSince you are back, sit down, and have a good meal with the elders.â
âHi, Gilbert. I cooked this meal myself,â Sharon said as she walked up to him.
Gilbert did not even glance at her but sat down silently on the couch.
Standing outside, Davian glanced at the scene inside the house and thought, âThis is a freaking trap.
Just as he was deep in thought, George came out and said, âDavian, your boss asked you to stay for dinner.â
Davian quickly shook his head. âNo, no, no, no. I have something to do. Iâm leaving. Please tell Mr.
Kooper for me,â Davian said and got into the car in a flash.
George looked at the car speed away and shook his head in amusement. âWhy are they all afraid to have dinner with the elders?â
âGilbert, Emma talks about you a lot at home.â A middleâaged woman smiled at Gilbert as a middleâ
aged man sat next to her. Gilbert looked at them and knew they must be Emmaâs parents, while the elderly woman sitting with Gilbertâs grandmother should be Emmaâs grandmother.
Gilbert leaned back, looking apathetic. âIâm a divorced man. What is there to talk about?â
The middleâaged man could not help but frown, but he said nothing. The middleâaged woman chortled. âGilbert, no need to be so humble. You are divorced but still excellent.â
Gilbert sneered, his attitude making them uncomfortable, and Emma looked embarrassed and awkward.
Mrs. Thompson Sr. looked at Madalyn with exasperation. âLook at himâ¦â
Madalyn patted her on the shoulder. âYoung people are like that. Donât worry about him. Letâs have dinner, shall we?â
By now, Sharon had already brought all the food to the table. Even though she had done so many things, Madalyn did not look pleased with her. She ignored Sharon and invited the Thompson family to take their seats. Sharon narrowed her eyes quietly, and after everyone had taken their seats, she found a seat to sit down.
Mr. Thompson glanced at Sharon and said sarcastically, âNo wonder Mr. Kooper doesnât like Emma.
Look, isnât there an international superstar here?â
Madalynâs face darkened slightly. âInternational superstar? I have allowed her to come here often because she is Gilbertâs childhood friend. Donât get me wrong.â
Sharonâs hands under the table clenched into fists. âDamn you, old woman, sooner or later, I will fix you.â Despite the vicious thought in her mind, Sharon still smiled like a Cheshire cat. âI heard that you all were coming to visit us today. So I have personally made all these for you all. Please give it a try.â
âYou are related to the Kooper family and not a maid, yet come to the Kooper family to entertain guests. Are you implying that you will be Mrs. Kooper in the future?â Mrs. Thompson Sr. grunted, her eyes more scathing than the youngsters nowadays.
Sharon was furious inside but still shook her head, trying to please. âDonât get me wrong. often come over to cook for Gilbert and never thought of it that way.â
âJust shut up, would you?â Madalyn couldnât help but growl at her. Seeing this, the Thompson family sneered. It had spoiled Madalynâs good mood, and her face darkened.
Gilbert, however, was making nothing of it, silently having his meal. He was the only one who ate with gusto, and no one else had started.
Meanwhile, on his way back, Davian drove past a park when he spotted a slightly familiar- looking wheelchair.
