Reborn Through Fire
Chapter 788 You Are Forcing My Hand Gilbertâs gaze darkened. âWhat do you mean?â
âMy hatred toward her is more than what I had for her mother. She may have done nothing wrong, but her birth, in and of itself, is the greatest mistake of all.â
âGrandmaâ¦â
Gilbert suddenly felt a little helpless, âCan you tell me why? Why do you despise her so?â
Mrs. Kooper Sr. looked at Gilbert sadly and could not find the words.
How she wished to make it clear to him so that he would leave that woman.
But she dared not trigger his mental illness.
She shook her head and said in pain, âItâs not that I donât want to tell you. I cannot tell you. You just need to know that what Grandma is doing is for your own good. If you are to listen to me, cut off that woman and have nothing to do with her anymore.â
âI cannot do that.â
âHehâ¦â Mrs. Kooper Sr. suddenly let out a chilling laugh, âSo, between her and me, youâre choosing her?â
âI donât have a choice,â Gilbert shifted his gaze away as he did not want to look at his grandmotherâs pained look.
She shook her head. âSince you insist on being with her, then I wonât force youâ¦â
When Gilbert heard that, he was elated, but the next sentence that came out of Mrs. Kooper Sr.âs mouth shattered him.
âIâve lived long enough, and Iâm tired. Itâs probably time for me to meet our ancestors⦠As for you and that woman, Iâll just treat it as I did not see it.â
âGrandma!â Gilbert could not accept her using her death to threaten him.
He looked grimly at her, âYouâre trying to force my hand.
Mrs. Kooper. Srâs smile was both loving yet icy, âSilly child, you are the one forcing my hand.â
As she said that, she turned to Davian, âCome, letâs go back.â
Gilbert was worried and immediately told Davian, âLook after Grandma.â
Davian gave a vigorous nod in reply.
Mrs. Kooper Sr. suddenly smiled, âNo need to worry. If you are not with that woman, Grandma will live on. I will live on until you find new happiness.â
Gilbert watched on with mixed feelings as his grandmother left.
He leaned warily against the chair, his mind a mess.
Kisa slowly walked out of the bathroom.
She hung her head and did not say anything as she made her way to him.
Gilbertâs heart ached as he grabbed her hand and said, Pay no heed to what she said.â
Kisa nodded, but she still did not speak. Her face looked rather pale as well.
Gilbert panicked as he asked, âYou⦠you canât be thinking of giving up, giving me up, right?â
This was what he was most afraid of.
He had finally gotten this womanâs forgiveness after so long. He will not allow her to give up just like that.
Seeing the manâs anxious look, Kisa could not help but laugh, âDonât think too much. Iâm not giving up.â
Only then did Gilbert heave a sigh of relief as his large hands still grabbed onto hers tightly.
Kisa suddenly sighed, âItâs just that Grandma is being very persistent on this. Iâm afraid she might do something stupid in the heat of the moment.â
Gilbert pursed his lips.
This was also something he was most worried about.
He then said, âIâll find a way to do away with her hatred and misunderstanding toward you as soon as possible.â
âOkay,â Kisa nodded seriously, âBut before that happens, letâs not meet again so that we donât agitate her.â
âNo!â
Just as Kisa finished saying, Gilbert immediately spoke out against it. âI want to see you every day, not a single day less!â
She had never heard Gilbert saying something this cringy before.
Kisa shuddered as goosebumps appeared all over her body.
Gilbertâs expression darkened, âKisa, are you trying to piss me off?â
Kisa rolled up her sleeves and revealed her hand with goosebumps as she chuckled, âNo, itâs just that what you said just now was so cringy.â
âYouâ¦â
âAlright, cool it. Letâs get down to business,â Kisa put away her smile and said seriously, âIf we want to meet every day and keep Grandma from blowing her fuse, I have an idea.â
