Chapter 21
Love After Divorce by BELLA
Chapter 21:.
âDoctor, how is my grandmother?â asked Stella, in a worried voice.
âMiss Richard, donât worry. Your grandmother is much better now. Her condition is much improved compared to two years ago.
When she first came to the hospital, she couldnât even move on her own,â the doctor explained as he handed her some reports.
âBut itâs all thanks to the man who has been taking care of her. He has provided her with the best medical care available.â
After hearing the doctorâs words, Stella wanted to meet that man so she could thank him personally for taking care of her grandmother all these years. âDoctor, who is this man who takes care of my grandmother?â.
âMiss Richard, that person told us to keep her identity a secret. I hope Miss Richard will not make things difficult for our hospital.
If you want to know, you can ask her grandmother. Maybe she knows...â
Stella heard this and nodded. All these years, when Stella was in France and wanted to go back, her grandmother wouldnât let her return.
Only now did she know why she did it..... Her grandmother didnât want her to worry about her.
âGrandma...â Stella gently opened the door and knocked.
Grace Harris looked up and immediately smiled at the sight of her granddaughter. âAh, dear, youâre back! Come here quick, let Grandma see you.â
âI want to know how beautiful my granddaughter has grown...â
âGrandma, as soon as I come back you start making fun of me?â.
But he still came over and sat down next to her bed.
âWho said I was kidding? Iâm serious...â
Grace looked Stella up and down and said, âDonât lose confidence in yourself. You are the most beautiful person in the world.â
Stella said nothing. Anyway, to all parents, their child was the best in the world. After his mother was gone, Grace was like his mother, too.
Grace didnât hold back and continued, âIâve been keeping track of your age.... You just turned 28 this year, right?â.
Stella blushed slightly, feeling a twinge of embarrassment. When she married RK, she was only 19. When she divorced, she was 22, and after leaving the country for six years.... She was now 28.
Six years. Stella sighed. Time had flown by...
In Emilyâs words: âYou wasted all your beautiful youth loving a cold and heartless man. But he gave you nothing in return....
Except a son. After that, you spent your life caring for him.â
But Stella didnât care. Maybe because she had been single for so many years, she felt she didnât need any man in her life?
Adrian was enough for her. He was everything to her, and she felt it wasnât wrong to spend her whole life with him.
It seemed to her that this kind of life wasnât bad at all. But Grace didnât see it that way. She was worried about her and said, âStella, youâre not getting any younger. Youâll be 30 in two years. Do you have a boyfriend?
If not, I can introduce you to someone.â
Stella listened to her grandmotherâs words and sighed. She didnât care about her love life, but her grandmother was always worried about her. Stellaâs grandmother always cared for her like a daughter, so as soon as she came back, Grace began to worry about her marriage....
âGrandma, donât worry about me. I am fine. I just want you to be healthy and live a happy life.â Stella held her hands and said, âHow can that be?â
Stella thought so, but Grace didnât think so.
Grace shook her head. âYou canât think like that, Stella. You canât be single all your life. You need someone to take care of you.
The man I want to introduce you to is very good. Heâs handsome, rich and nice.â
Stellaâs lips twitched at her grandmotherâs description. She didnât believe there was a man with all those qualities.
Moreover, even if she found a man, she would only choose someone who would accept Adrian wholeheartedly and be good to him. Other things did not matter to her.
Since she was divorced and had a child, all the men she met on blind dates were also divorced and had a child like her. Because of this, Stella was still single.
âGrandma, you know I already have Adrian, how can someone like him like me?â
âYou must have confidence in yourself.â
Grace sensed Stellaâs hesitation and added, âIâll introduce you to this man. Heâs also divorced and has a daughter. Heâs the one whoâs been taking care of me in the hospital all these years and comes to see me twice a week.
He is also the one who pays all my medical expenses. I know he will be good for you. What a good boy.
After hearing her grandmotherâs words, Stella didnât know what to say.
Stella was surprised by her grandmotherâs revelation and didnât know how to rebut it. She didnât expect that the man was also divorced and had a daughter.
But Stella didnât think too much about this. All that mattered to her was that the man had taken care of her grandmother for six years.
So he didnât think too much about her identity and said, âOkay.â Stella finally agreed, in a soft voice. âAsk him to come to the hospital. Then I can thank him personally and also pay him back the money he spent on my grandmother.â
Stella thought to herself.
Grace listened to Stellaâs words and was overjoyed. She loved her granddaughter and held in high esteem the man she wanted to introduce to her. After giving him her hand, she could rest easy and die in peace.
Grace looked at her and said, âThatâs wonderful! And it just so happens that today is Friday. Rene usually comes to visit me on Fridays.â
Stellaâs heart skipped a beat when she heard the name, but she immediately dismissed the idea. How could it be that man?
They had similar names. His name was also René...
Stella looked at her grandmother and said, âOkay.â
âOne more thing,â Grace added, âBring Adrian with you later. I havenât told Rene about him yet, but let them get to know each other first. After that, weâll let Adrian decide if he likes him and wants him to be his stepfather...â
Stella looked at her grandmother in confusion. Stella! Rene! She felt her grandmother was taking it too seriously.
But Stella didnât want to ruin her grandmotherâs good mood, so she called Emily and asked her to pick Adrian up from school and take him to the hospital.
Despite her grandmotherâs optimism, Stella was not so hopeful.
All of her blind dates had been arranged by Emily in the past. When the men found out she had a child, they all left. This time was to be no exception. She didnât care...
