Chapter 250

Love After Divorce by BELLA

Chapter 250:

RK didn’t seem to have any intention of answering Stella’s question. He remained silent, and that only made her more uncomfortable.

For a moment, the bathroom was eerily quiet, the awkwardness palpable. Stella couldn’t help but feel embarrassed. Why had she asked that question? She already knew their relationship would end sooner or later. But did she secretly hope they could last longer? And why did she ask about Sophia?

Did she really think she could compare to Sophia? She knew this man likely only had Sophia in his heart.

Lowering her gaze, Stella turned her head away and muttered, “Just get out. I need to take a shower. Don’t look.”

She shifted to the side and carefully pulled back her injured right foot, wanting to avoid him in every possible way. The last thing she wanted was for him to take advantage of her or, worse, see her like this.

Since rumors about him and Sophia were already out there, and he hadn’t denied anything, wasn’t that proof enough? His silence felt like an unspoken agreement.

A wave of frustration welled up inside her, and she wasn’t sure when she had started feeling this way toward him.

Finally, RK didn’t say a word and left the bathroom.

After Stella spent nearly two hours in the bath, struggling due to her injured foot, she eventually came out of the bathroom, only to find that RK was gone.

A servant stood at the door instead. Whether RK had asked her to be there or not, Stella didn’t know.

“Miss Richard, are you finished with your shower?” the servant asked, her tone full of concern. She glanced at Stella’s foot. “Your ankle... Is it alright? You shouldn’t have moved on your own. I was waiting for you at the door. The doctor said you shouldn’t walk around with your injury. And now, you’re walking again?”

The servant helped Stella back into her room, fussing over her as she went on. “Mr. Kingston asked about your foot. He noticed it’s more swollen than before. It seems like he’s quite worried about you.”

When she was in the bathroom, RK had already asked her what happened, but she had refused to answer. She didn’t want to get into it, especially when it involved Sophia. She had told him to ask Sophia instead, and now he had gone to the servants for answers.

Perhaps that was better than asking Sophia directly. She knew how cunning her sister could be—if RK had asked her, Sophia might have turned the whole thing against her.

“Miss Richard, would you like me to apply the medicine for you?” the servant asked as she brought over an ointment and a cotton swab.

The ointment was different from the one she had seen before. “This is what Mr. Kingston left behind,” the servant explained. “He said that if you use this, your foot will heal faster. He also mentioned applying an ice pack later.”

For a moment, Stella felt an unexpected sense of discomfort. Since when did that man care so much about me?

He had even brought her a special ointment and left instructions for an ice pack. Why hadn’t he shown this kind of concern before?

Stella took the ointment and examined it. The label was written in a foreign language, different from what the doctor had given her. Could it have been something RK specially brought?

She shook her head, pushing the thought away. She didn’t want to believe it. Perhaps he just had this ointment at the company, or maybe his assistant had picked it up for her. There was no way RK had personally gone out of his way for her.

In fact, Stella refused to think too much about it. Their relationship was temporary, and if she let herself believe he cared, she was bound to get hurt in the end.

“Miss Richard, should I help you apply the ointment?” the servant asked.

“No, I’ll do it myself,” Stella declined. Then, she hesitated before asking, “Where is he now?”

After leaving the bathroom, RK had disappeared. Was he gone already?

“Mr. Kingston left the mansion after he stepped out of the bathroom,” the servant explained. “Are you looking for him?”

Stella fell silent. So, the only reason he came back today... was to give me the ointment?

The idea seemed ridiculous to her. She must be overthinking things. RK was always so busy with work—he could stay at the office for days without returning home. There was no way he had rushed back just to deliver ointment.

If that were the case, he could’ve had someone else bring it. Why would he come back in person?

It made no sense. He must have come to the mansion for some other reason, perhaps to retrieve some documents from work. It wasn’t like him to show concern for her.

And yet, she couldn’t shake the feeling of confusion. Why hadn’t she seen him bring the ointment earlier?

“Miss Richard, is there anything else you need?” the servant asked, sensing Stella’s distraction.

“No, it’s fine. You can go rest. I’ll handle it myself.”

“Very well. After applying the ointment, you should go to bed early,” the servant advised before leaving the room.
