Chapter 270
Love After Divorce by BELLA
Chapter 270:
Stella knew that when facing RK, she shouldnât take his words seriously. But when it came to the issue of Adrianâs custody, she couldnât stop herself from pushing back.
âStella, I am Adrianâs father. Donât I have the right to raise him and protect him?â RK insisted.
âIs this what you call protection? I know you want to fight for custody, but canât you wait a little longer? Canât you continue the fight after Adrian has accepted it all? Do you think this is truly for his sake? If you keep pushing, he wonât just hate me; heâll hate you too.â
âThatâs impossible! Adrian wonât hate me. I am his father.â
Hearing RK say the word âfather,â Stella couldnât help but sneer. âYou think if I tell Adrian how his father divorced his pregnant mother for another woman, and even pressured her to get rid of him, he wonât hate you?
Do you think he wouldnât be furious and cut all ties with you? You wouldnât even be a stranger to him.â
RK remained calm. âThat wonât happen because you care about Adrian. You wouldnât want to make him sad. If you tell him the truth, not only will you be heartbroken, but so will he. You wonât be willing to see that.â
Stella clenched her fists. RK was rightâshe couldnât bear to tell Adrian about the past. She couldnât bear to let him know that his father had once insisted on not keeping him. She knew Adrian was just a child, and this knowledge would devastate him.
âRK, donât think Iâm still the same Stella you used to bully and hurt. Ever since I came back to X City, Iâve never once considered letting you hurt me again. You wonât be able to harm me now.â Stellaâs voice was firm.
She would never forgive them for the pain they had caused her. The suffering and tears she endured in France were etched in her memory forever.
Stella had never wanted Adrian to identify with the Kingston family. Even though Adrian shared RKâs blood, she had always intended for him to remain with her. And even if RK tried to fight her in court, she wouldnât back down.
So what if they fought head-on? She had raised Adrian for years, built a bond with him, and had a stable life. RK already had Alia. She believed that no matter what, the court would rule in her favor, and Adrian would stay with her forever.

âWhy did you invite me for a meal?â Stella asked, confused by his sudden change in tone.
âNothing special. I just realized that ever since you returned to X City, I havenât treated you to a proper meal. I thought it was time to make up for that.â
âThank you, then,â Stella replied, though her voice carried little emotion.
âNo need to thank me. Taking care of Adrian is the greatest gratitude you can show me,â RK said.
âWait, have you changed your mind about fighting for custody?â Stella asked, a hint of excitement in her voice.
âNot at all. Until I win the right to custody, you take good care of Adrian. I owe him a lot. I havenât been a good father,â RK said, sounding almost regretful.
âAdrian has never blamed you. That means he doesnât hate you. If you make it up to him, heâll forgive you,â Stella said softly.
âArenât you afraid Iâll fight you for custody?â RK shot her a sly smile.
âFear is one thing, but you two reconciling is another. After all, youâre Adrianâs father. Thatâs an undeniable fact.â
âWhen did you become so reasonable?â RK teased.
âIâve always been reasonable, havenât I?â
After work, RK drove Stella straight to the hospital where Alia was already playing with Adrian.
âLook at me, Iâm a highly skilled gunman!â Alia exclaimed.
âWow! Watch me transform!â Adrian responded, his imagination running wild.
The two children were having a blast in the ward. Fortunately, Adrian couldnât get out of bed yet, or the hospital might have been turned upside down.
âDarling, Bad Uncle, youâre here!â Adrian greeted them.
âAunt Stella, Daddy, hello,â Alia said politely.
âYouâre not allowed to call my dad âBad Uncle,'â Alia corrected Adrian.
âBad Uncle, Bad Uncle, Bad Uncle!â Adrian repeated playfully.
With each âBad Uncle,â Stella started to find the nickname oddly endearing.
RK, however, just chuckled and let it slide.
Stella set out the dinner she had brought, and the four of them sat down together to eat.
âDarling, doesnât this look like weâre a family of four?â Adrian said suddenly, stopping in the middle of his meal. His innocent observation left Stella at a loss for words.
âAdrian, donât talk nonsense. We are from two different families. Weâre just sitting at the same table for now,â Stella quickly corrected him.
