Chapter 277

Love After Divorce by BELLA

Chapter 277:

“Alas, it’s all your fault! Why do you have to quarrel and argue? I choked because of your words! You need to take full responsibility for this!” Adrian complained, clearly dissatisfied.

“Alright, alright, we’ll take full responsibility. I’ll teach the bad uncle a lesson for you, so don’t be angry, Adrian,” Stella said with a smile before giving RK a few playful punches, causing him to cough in exaggerated pain.

It was a simple but effective form of revenge, and Adrian was finally satisfied. With the mood lightened, they all lost interest in continuing their meal. After settling Adrian in, the two adults left the hospital.

Once they got to the car, RK’s mind lingered on what Stella had said in the ward. He was still fuming as he sat behind the wheel.

Stella, noticing his sour expression, decided it was time to make her escape.

“Well, I’ll head up first,” Stella said as she reached for the car door. But to her dismay, the door was locked, trapping her inside.

“What did you say about me in the ward?” RK asked, his voice low and controlled as he approached her. “Did you call me arrogant and narcissistic? And a jerk? What else did you say behind my back?”

“No, do you believe me if I say I was just joking to entertain Adrian? Honestly, I always thought you were very kind!” Stella tried to play it off, but her nervousness gave her away.

RK, however, wasn’t buying it. “Since you said I’m arrogant and narcissistic, can I assume you still like me just as much as before? Because I’m just too kind?” He leaned in closer, forcing Stella to back away, pressing herself against the car door.

“And can I assume that, since I’m so insidious, it wouldn’t matter if I kissed you?” RK’s voice lowered as he inched closer, the tip of his nose nearly brushing hers.

Stella’s heart raced. She tried to avoid him, but with nowhere to go, RK leaned in and pressed his lips against hers.

The kiss brought her back to six years ago, to the first time he had kissed her. Neither of them had been drunk back then; both were fully aware of what they were doing, yet they couldn’t resist the pull toward each other.

That had been Stella’s first kiss, and she remembered it vividly. She had always kept her distance from men, never engaging in romantic relationships, so kissing RK had been an overwhelming experience.

But as RK kissed her again, all those buried emotions resurfaced, flooding her with memories. Despite how much she resented him, despite how deeply she had tried to cut him from her life, there was no denying the scar he had left on her heart.

RK, too, was caught off guard. He had only meant to scare her, but once their lips touched, he found himself unable to stop. The taste of her was just as he remembered, drawing him in further.

They remained locked in that kiss for over two minutes until RK finally pulled away, awkward and unsure of what to say.

“Ahem... uh, that... well, it was a matter of gravity and inertia,” RK stammered, clearly flustered.

“Oh, I see. Gravity and inertia, huh? I didn’t realize they could keep your lips on mine for over two minutes. Makes perfect sense,” Stella replied sarcastically, her voice dripping with irony.

RK felt embarrassed. “Yeah... well, uh, you know...” he mumbled, realizing just how absurd his explanation sounded. It was, without a doubt, the dumbest excuse he had ever come up with.

“To prevent gravity and inertia from making you do something even more ridiculous, I think I’ll head up first,” Stella said, quickly getting out of the car and rushing toward her building.

As she ran, tears welled in her eyes. Once inside, she leaned against the wall, sliding down until she was sitting on the floor. It was often said that a woman’s first love was always a disappointment, but why did hers have to be a jerk and shameless?

She wiped her mouth hard, trying in vain to rid herself of the taste of him, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t erase his presence.
