Chapter 278
Love After Divorce by BELLA
Chapter 278:
RKâs car remained parked outside Stellaâs apartment for a long time before he finally rolled down the window, letting the cold wind wash over him. Eventually, he started the engine and drove off slowly.
His mind, however, wasnât on the road; instead, it was replaying what had just happened. That kiss with Stella had transported him back six years, making the memory of their first kiss feel as fresh as if it had happened just yesterday.
God, why did kissing her today bring all those memories flooding back? He hadnât thought about that moment in years, and now it was all rushing back, overwhelming him. He felt confused, lost. What kind of feeling was this? What was going on inside him?
Could it be that his feelings for Stella were only rekindling because she had given birth to his child? Was it possible that any woman who had his child would trigger the same emotions in him?
That idea was absurd, and RK immediately dismissed it. If this were true, he wouldnât want to have children with anyone elseâ
feeling this way with another woman would be uncomfortable, unsettling even.
It was like the idea of loveâwhen you love someone, you accept them, tolerate their flaws. If you tried to apply those same feelings to someone else, it wouldnât feel right. It would be awkward, like a hug or kiss from someone you didnât love. There would be no familiarity, no trust. It would feel forced, wrong.
Six years ago, RK hadnât understood these feelings, and even now, he still didnât.
That night, instead of going home, RK went to the bar he frequented. He sat at the counter, drinking slowly and lost in thought, reflecting on his life.
âWell, well, isnât this Mr. Kingston? Drinking all alone, huh? Whatâs wrong with you? Trouble with an old lover?â
Ruby appeared, her words dripping with sarcasm as she made her way over to him. RK didnât feel like talking. He had already called Aden to come, and once he arrived, he would ask him to take care of Ruby.
âRK, I heard Sophiaâs been pretty depressed lately. Did you break up? Are you thinking of getting back together with Stella?â
Rubyâs voice was laced with bitterness as she tried to provoke him.
RK said nothing, focusing instead on his glass, staring into the liquid as if it held the answers he was searching for.
Step into new worlds with gαâηÏνíâs.çоm Ruby had come to the bar because she had nothing else to do. The place was run by her friend, so she felt comfortable playing around there. She didnât expect to run into RK, but now that she had, she saw an opportunity.
If she could get him drunk, she could take him upstairs, get him into bed, and who knows? Maybe she could end up pregnant with his child. That would solve everythingâshe would give birth to his baby, and he would have no choice but to marry her.
They could live together, happily ever after.
But RK wasnât falling for her tricks. No matter how much she tried to provoke him, he remained calm, barely touching his drink, as if his mind was elsewhere.
Ruby couldnât understand what was so special about Stella. Why would RK abandon Sophia for her? Sophia had done everything to win him over, and still, RK seemed obsessed with Stella. Was it just because Stella had given birth to his child?
Ruby couldnât make sense of it. But if that was the reason, then she could do the same. She could have his child too. Then everything would fall into place.
Lost in her thoughts, Ruby forgot her original plan and began laughing to herself, her mind wandering into a fantasy world where everything worked out perfectly.
RK noticed her strange behavior, muttered something under his breath, and moved away to drink alone in peace.
When Aden finally arrived, he noticed RK sitting by himself, looking unusually somber. Yet, there were only a few empty glasses in front of himâhe wasnât drinking much. Meanwhile, Ruby sat on the other side of the bar, lost in her own thoughts, resting her chin on her hand.
Aden thought the whole scene was bizarre. Was everyone lost in their own heads tonight?
He walked over and sat down across from RK.
âWhatâs going on? Why did you call me out for drinks at this hour? Whatâs the matter?â Aden asked, concerned.
