Chapter 293

Love After Divorce by BELLA

Chapter 293:

Aden felt like he was seeing a completely different RK that day. In the past, no one would have ever imagined RK doing things like combing someone’s hair, washing their face, or applying a facial mask.

Even the slightest smile from him was considered a rare gift. But today, RK not only took care of Stella’s every need, he smiled gently while talking to her. His expression was so tender that even Aden felt moved by the scene.

Oh my God, was he hallucinating? Was it the end of the world? RK was acting like a worried old lady. Aden felt like he needed to sit down and process what he was seeing.

“Aden, go fetch Adrian and get some people to guard the ward. If Tristan comes, don’t let him in. I don’t want him bothering me,”

RK instructed calmly.

Aden had no choice but to obey. He obediently left to pick Adrian up from kindergarten.

Adrian had just started school and wasn’t in the best mood. He walked slowly toward the car with Alia. To be honest, he had tried to run away several times, even from kindergarten, but the Kingston family’s bodyguards kept a close eye on him. No matter what he tried, he couldn’t escape. It was all so sad.

As soon as Alia got into the car, Adrian was stopped by Aden. Aden motioned for the driver to take Alia home and then got into another car with Adrian.

“Uncle Aden, why are you here?” Adrian was surprised to see him.

“I’m taking you to see Darling, okay?”

“Really? Darling? Are you really going to take me to see her? Does Bad Uncle know?” Adrian asked cautiously.

“Actually, it was Bad Uncle who asked me to come. Darling is sick, Adrian. She needs you to take care of her,” Aden explained.

“Darling is sick? But she’s usually healthy!” Adrian looked disbelieving.

Aden said, worried that Adrian wouldn’t be able to handle the sight of Stella.

“Don’t worry, I’m very strong. I won’t cry!” Adrian promised firmly, though Aden sighed internally, knowing the boy didn’t fully understand what he was about to see.

When they arrived at the hospital, Aden carried Adrian to Stella’s floor. As they entered the ward, Aden could feel Adrian trembling slightly in his arms.

Adrian may have been just a child, but the sight of his mother lying there, unconscious, was a heavy blow even for adults. He scrambled out of Aden’s arms and ran to Stella’s bedside.

The doctors had said that Stella’s condition was unstable, that she seemed to have given up and didn’t want to wake up. RK had hoped that bringing Adrian to her would spark something in her, a reason to fight.

“D-Darling... Darling, what’s wrong with you? Did you fall? If you’re this careless, I’ll ignore you in the future!” Adrian’s voice was full of concern, though his eyes brimmed with tears. He remembered his promise to Uncle Aden and tried hard not to cry.

Holding Stella’s hand tightly, he said, “Darling, we had an exam at kindergarten, and I got full marks. The teacher said I’m very smart! Darling, look, I got full marks!”

Despite his best efforts, Adrian’s tears began to fall, and soon he was sobbing, his little body clinging to Stella’s.

Who was crying? Was it Adrian? Stella thought in the dark. Why did he sound so sad? She couldn’t let him cry. He must have been bullied and was waiting for her to save him. She had to get out of this foggy place. Adrian was waiting for her. She still had to fight RK for custody of Adrian. No, she couldn’t lose...

Suddenly, RK noticed Stella’s eyelids twitch. “Aden, did you see that? Her eyelids moved!”

“Yes, I saw it!” Aden confirmed excitedly.

“Doctor! Doctor!” RK shouted. The doctors and nurses rushed in and checked Stella thoroughly. After a moment, they came out, and RK held his breath.

“It’s a miracle,” one doctor said. “The patient is out of danger and should wake up in a few days. Congratulations!”

RK, overjoyed, picked Adrian up and twirled him around. Adrian giggled, his heart lighter than it had been in days. For the first time, father and son shared a moment of joy together, their previous tensions momentarily forgotten.

Aden smiled as well. It was wonderful to see such happiness.

For the first time in RK’s life, he felt that God was truly watching over him. He wasn’t grateful for his intelligence or his looks, nor for the opportunities life had given him, but this moment—this moment when Stella was safe—made him feel like the luckiest man in the world.

“Stella,” he whispered to himself, “I’m so glad you’re still here.”

In the past, RK had always thought that leading the company to success would be the peak of his life, his greatest challenge.

But now, he realized that nothing compared to the feeling of regaining something precious he thought he had lost. The fear and worry of the past few days had shown him that caring for someone else brought him a happiness far deeper than any business victory.
