Chapter 296
Love After Divorce by BELLA
Chapter 296:
Stella had been lying in the hospital for a long time. Every day, she had to face RKâs annoying presence. This guy was constantly moving around in front of her, and because of this, she couldnât even sleep well.
On the second day after she woke up, Emily came to see her, but RK had a rule that no one could get closer than half a meter to Stella, so Emily had to sit aside and chat with her from a distance.
âStella, you finally woke up. Do you know how worried I was about you? Look at youâwhy would you want to jump off a building? What happened that night? You never go to the rooftop. Arenât you afraid of heights? What can I say about you?â Emily had already started to nag and scold Stella.
Stella wanted to shake her and tell her she didnât deliberately jump. She just wanted to grab the bottle; she didnât want to fall off the building. She didnât want to die. She still had Adrian, so how could she do that?
But she couldnât speak. She could only look at Emily and try to communicate with her eyes that she hadnât meant to jump off the building.
âHey, why donât you answer me? Oh, if you canât talk right now, then forget about it. But when you recover, you must give me a perfect explanation. And donât tell me you tripped and fell. If you do, Iâll kick you down myself.
That kind of reason is too ridiculous. I donât believe that you could have gotten drunk and then decided to jump!â It was clear that Emily didnât understand what Stella was trying to communicate with her eyes. She was completely lost in her own world, and her nagging was almost as relentless as RKâs.
Stella gave up trying to communicate with Emily. She closed her tired eyes, searching for peace and a perfect reason to stop her friendâs barrage of questions.
âAlright, alright, I know. Youâve just woken up, so itâs easy for you to get tired. Iâll go to work first, and Iâll come see you tomorrow.
Have a good rest. And donât pay attention to that lunatic RK. Heâs treating you like a first-class zoo exhibitâpeople can look but no one is allowed to get close.â Seeing that Stella was tired, Emily didnât stay much longer. After saying goodbye, she left.
Not long after Emily left, Stella fell asleep for a bit but was awakened by voices outside the ward.
âRK, donât go too far! Canât you even let me see Stella now that sheâs awake?â Tristanâs voice rang out, clearly angry and hurried.
âWhatâs the problem? Iâm in charge of this ward now. Stella is awake, but she listens to me. If I didnât let you in, it means she doesnât want to see you. Besides, sheâs tired and sleeping. She doesnât have the energy to entertain you. Please go back.â RKâs voice was as casual and irritating as ever.
Má´Êá´ á´á´á´ á´á´á´s ɪɴ É¢á´ÊÉ´á´á´ á´Ês.á´á´á´ Stella was very grateful to RK, though. She knew he didnât like Tristan, but she appreciated that he was keeping Tristan at a distance.
She didnât want anything to do with him or the Richard family anymore. Sophia, Isabella, and David were all people she didnât want to see again for the rest of her life. The less contact she had with anyone from the Richard family, the better.
So RK barring Tristan from entering was exactly what she wanted. Although it was a bit heartless, it was ultimately for the best.
Tristan, angry but unwilling to disturb Stellaâs rest, had no choice but to leave.
RK walked back into the ward, looking pleased with himself.
Stella stared out the window, her mind wandering. How long had it been since she had gone outside to enjoy the view? By now, the begonias must have bloomed.
RK noticed the wistful look in her eyes. He glanced out the window at the early spring scene and tried to comfort her. âItâs still early spring.
The flowers havenât fully bloomed yet. Once you feel a little better, Iâll take you to the garden to see them. By then, you can admire the flowers... and me, too,â he added with a teasing smile.
Though it sounded like he was showing off, Stella could sense that he was trying to comfort her. She smiled weakly at him and then turned her gaze back to the window.
In the past, she had always thought RK was arrogant and unbearable. Every day, he acted as though he were the center of the universe. She had hated his superiority complex. But now, she saw a different side of him. He had been by her side, taking care of her day in and day out.
She never expected this from him. Despite living with him for so long, she had always felt that he was above her, someone she could only look up to. She never imagined that years later, after so much time apart, she would see him in this light.
Fate had a strange way of making fools of people.
Though RK wasnât the only man in the world, there was something particularly captivating about his gentle side. Yet, what everyone else saw was his coldness and ruthlessness, never the kindness beneath the surface.
His arrogance and shrewdness were simply defense mechanisms to protect himself, making it difficult for outsiders to see his sincerity.
In the past, Stella had always felt that RKâs treatment of others was harsh, and that he acted like a tyrant. But after her fall, despite the serious injuries, she had corrected a misconception she hadnât even realized she had. Somehow, in a strange way, it felt worth it. At least, now, she had finally let go.
