Chapter 40

I could tell Ashton was stressed and maybe even a little depressed, but I had no idea how bad it was going to get. He was pretty good at hiding his true feelings, but he had also promised he would come to me if something was wrong. I trusted him , But the stress was about to get the best of Ashton.

I jumped out of the car running up to the house , using my spare key I yelled his name as me and Calum searched the house top to bottom. I cringed seeing the en suite bathroom door closed with a sign saying keep out.

"Ashton?" I spoke over the shower water running. I had hopes maybe he was just taking a shower and that I had nothing to worry about but when there was no reply my heart almost dropped. "ASHTON?!" I repeated louder. Still no reply , I managed to budge the door open with a bit of force.

"A-Ashton... no... no, no..."I stuttered out. My eyes were glued to the floor not wanting to look up and see him so broken. I could see the remaining pills scattered amongst the floor.

I looked back up at my older brother and I noticed the blonde fragile girl clinging on to his arm for dear life, I hadn't even noticed Sasha in the room.

Her  red, bloodshot eyes looked up at me, tears streaming down her cheeks.  I then looked towards Ashton and saw a side to him  that had barely made an appearance before. He was so vulnerable, so scared.

I brought him forward into my arms. He clung onto me, finally letting everything out. Ashtons tears soaked through my shirt but I ignored it, gripping him tighter.

"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry," Sasha choked out. I was about to protest when I noticed blood pouring onto the floor , next thing I know I was on the floor screaming Calums name.

I paced up and down the hospital hallway waiting for the doctors to tell me what was going on. All they had told me is that it wasn't critical and he wasn't going to die. Although if we had found him any later he would of been a goner , the thought of that sent me into a frenzy and I began screaming out Sasha in the middle of a hospital.

''This is all your fault!'' I yelled in her face

''How... You cannot be serious right now Rebecca.'' Sasha laughed hysterically

''HE COULD OF DIED TONIGHT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?''

''Yes I do understand I'm the one who fucking found him wasn't I?'' she reminded me.

''You shouldn't of given him hope Sasha. You should of left when you had the chance. You made him think things would go back to the way they were.'' I sighed running a hand through my hair.

''Yeah? and whose fault was that Rebecca? Last time I was told you were the one who got to remember things and got to have a baby okay? Don't you think its been hard for me to deal with all of this. I woke up being told I lost a baby that I do not even remember! I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER MY OWN HUSBAND!''She cried out.

''Both of you stop okay?'' Calum said

''N-''

''WH-'

''Seriously both of you cut it out. Ashton's the one we need to focus on and he don't need to be welcomed by both of you screaming at each other okay?''

''Fine.'' Sasha said walking into Ashtons hospital room , I turned around to face Calum about to snap at him for getting involved but he just pulled me into his arms unexpectedly and for the second time that night I broke down crying in his arms.

''He's going to be fine Rebecca. They said he was going to be okay.'' he soothed stroking my hair as we swayed back and forth.

''But.He.What.If.He...tries to do it ag-''

''Shh don't think or say that alright?''

''Mrs Hood?'' A women called breaking us apart. I nodded my head looking towards the nurse she smiled and gestured to the hospital room.

''Your brother is awake now.'' I looked to Calum and he nodded giving me a smile.

''I'll wait out here for the others.'' he said kissing my temple then taking a seat.

I walked into the small room looking at Sasha hold onto Ashtons hand tightly as he stared up at the ceiling.

Memories flooded back of when Sasha was the one in a hospital bed and Ashton held onto her hand. They've been through so much together and it is painful to watch them have such a hard time , trying to perfect their relationship.

Sasha looked over at me giving me a half smile and kissing his hand then letting go. She walked up to me saying she'd give us some privacy , I thanked her and apologized for what had happened.

''I'll be back in a minute just getting a drink... he hasn't said much.'' She whispered patting me on the arm.

''I'm sorry about... before.''

''Its fine.''

When she left the room I slowly made my way over to the side of the bed. Ashtons head turned towards me softly letting out a soft sigh before clutching onto my hand and rubbing his thumb over it.

''I am so sorry.'' he whispered

''Shh.'' I said my voice breaking as I broke out in tears leaning my head on the side of the bed as he stroked my head. I could hear him sob softly , I sat back up wiping my eyes and brushed his hair back.

''I wished you told me what was going on.'' I whispered

''I tried. You just had bigger problems going on I didn't want to interfere. ''

''I much rather you did, maybe we wouldn't be here right now?.''

''Don't blame yourself Becca''

''Hey! You haven't called me that in forever.''

''Meh , I felt like a change.'' he said I poked his cheek causing his mouth to form a small smile.

''Do you want me to go get Sasha now?'' I offered standing up and making my way to the door.

''She's gone.'' he said , staring back up at the ceiling.

''What do you mean shes gone?'' I half laughed making my way back over to him and sitting down. She couldn't of just left? After all thats happened?

''She was leaving today. She came back for some stuff I forgot she left... Thats when she found me. Shes going back to England today.'' he said

''What? She can't just leave you like this surely... Wait till I get my hands on he-''

''Becca stop.'' he said looking over at me.

''... I've let her go. I cant keep her here knowing she was in pain.''

''PAIN? PAIN? YOUR THE ONE IN PAIN!'' I yelled throwing my hands in the air fustrated by her decision to just abandon my brother when he is in such a state like this.

''Becky , she's gone. I need to let her go so she can move on and so can I.''

''What do you mean? A minute ago you was about to kill your-...''

''Say it.'' he said above a whisper

''I didn't mean to... its just.''

''Its fine.'' he sighed staring back up at the ceiling

'' I just don't want to lose you.'' I whispered softly.

Calums P.O.V

I waited outside patiently for the others to arrive before receiving a phone call from my mum saying she had to go to work asap and needed me to pick up the kids... brilliant timing mum. My dad was on a business trip and Mali was already in London working on some new music so I couldn't go to any of them. Rebeccas parents had just arrived at the hospital and walked up to me with a worried expression on all their faces.

''Where is he?'' said Ann , I showed her to the room reassuring her he was fine and was awake but just tired.

'' I've just got to pick up the kids , I'll be back in a few tell Rebecca for me.'' I said  to Rebeccas dad. He nodded and walked into the hospital room as I exited it.

''How the fuck does this even work?'' I cursed to myself as I tried to figure out how to buckle up the car seats in the back of the car. Rosalie began crying then screaming and I let out a groan.

''Rosalie will you be quiet I'm trying my best here.'' I reassured the little girl looking towards James he mimiced Rosalies actions and began screaming as well.

''Uhh guys!!'' I said turning around and grabbing random toys in one of the travel bags in order to try and make them quiet.

''Need some help bro?'' Michael said ... wait Michael?!

''Michael what the hell?''

''Rebecca sent me said you're clueless with this sort of thing.'' he laughed

''I'm trying my best.'' I sighed frustratedly as I turned my attention back to the car seat.

''Here.'' Michael laughed with a matter of seconds the seat was in perfectly , I widened my eyes then groaned.

''HOW?! I've been here for twenty minutes.'' I said making Michael laugh harder.

'' Have you got any tips to make them quiet?'' I joked

''Well the problem is you should of probably checked their diapers before you strapped them in.''

''What?''

''Well you see the face Rosalies making well...''

''OH GOD!!'' I said in realisation , taking her out and running back in my mums house with her. Michael picked up James and followed me into the house laughing.

''It seems like they do everything the same.'' Michael joked gesturing to James bottom.

''Fuck.'' I cursed pulling out the diapers and looking at them for a second.

''Don't tell me you have never changed them...''

''Not on my own!'' I mumbled

''Look I'll show you.''

I had finally managed to get to the hospital even though it took longer then expected. I walked into the hospital room expecting everyone to be in there.

''SURPRISE''...

To my surprise there was no one left in there apart from Ashton  , Rebecca and Ann. Ashton stared at me , his eyes lighting up a little as he saw his niece and nephew in my arms.

''Oops. Sorry I thought''

''They've all gone now.'' Ann smiled , ''-I think you should take her home.'' she said gesturing to Rebecca who had her head laid on the side of the bed sleeping beautifully.

''Here i'll help you.'' She said about to stand up ,

''Its okay i'm here to help.'' Michael said walking through the doors , we spent a few minutes with Ashton while Ann saw to the kids then with the help of Michael  we left. I carried a sleeping Rebecca while he helped with the kids.

When we got back to the apartment I laid her in bed covering her up and kissing her head. She grabbed my wrist whispering without letting her eyes open , 'Stay'.
