Chapter 41

''Good morning princess'' Calum whispered in my ear.

We were curled up in bed , I let out a soft yawn turning around and being faced with Calum. His eyes were closed , his hair a little bit messy. I moved one of my arms from under the cover and poked his cheek he let out a soft grin and his eyes fluttered open revealing the big brown pupils that were so captivating.

''Morning.'' I whispered back. Calum leaned forward planting a gentle slow kiss on my lips I pulled back and he pouted.

''We kissed before we brushed! I have morning breathe'' I told him and he shrugged his shoulders kissing my again.

''I don't care. I love you.'' the three words that left he mouth were almost rushed like he didn't mean to say it. We've been back together for awhile now but we said to eachother we were taking things slow and neither of us have said those words in what felt like forever.

''Sorry I didn't mean to...'' he began a worried expression on his face , I smiled shaking my head and kissing him softly.

''Its okay.'' I said , I didn't say it back to him in fear of being rejected again. I wasn't ready to say it back just yet.

''So what are we going to do today...'' he questioned , just as the kids starting to cry.

''I'll get them.'' he said pushing me softly back down on the bed and getting out to go get them.

Calum P.O.V

Waking up next to Rebecca was almost like I was living in a dream. Im so greatful for her giving me another chance even though I don't deserve it with all i have put her through.

The fact I can wake up to my wife every morning again is amazing and all I ever want/need. I was stupid to ever think I wanted different , I said the three words 'I love you' to her this morning and I have no regrets. It hurt that she didnt say it back to me straight away but she needs time and I have to respect that. We are taking things slow and at her own pace, I went to go take care of the kids including changing their diapers which may I add i am a pro now thanks to Michael.

When I got back to the bedroom Rebecca was dressed head to toe she gave me a smile and walked up to me to give me a hug.

'I'm going to go and see Ashton today. I'll see you later , Have fun okay?'' she said kissing my cheek and making her way out the house.

''Bye.'' I called out , I turned towards the kids who were staring at me from their high chairs and gave them a nervous smile. ''Daddy day?'' I said hopefully , yet all they did was in reply was cry and scream.

Rebecca P.O.V

I parked outside of the hospital spotting my mothers car in the car park. I signed in at the reception and made my way to his room. I noticed my mother half asleep on the chair , Ashton gave me a small smile his eyes removing themselves from the ceiling.

''She has been here all night.'' he said looking towards her with a sigh. I nodded and placed my jacket at the end of the bed and my bag on the floor. I nudged her slightly she opened her eyes.

''Oh hello sweetheart.'' she said , I gave her a kiss on the cheek.

''Go home and get some rest.'' she was about to protest before Ashton spoke.

''I'll be fine , stop worrying.'' he said , she nodded and kissed his forehead then mine and grabbed her belongings then exited the room.

''How are you feeling?''

''The truth or the lie?''

''Truth.''

''Fucking terrible.''

''Hey don't swear!'' I said to him , hitting him softly with one of the spare pillows making him let out a sweet chuckle.

When I arrive home it is 10pm , the house is a complete mess and when I'm about to shout and curse at Calum for it looking like a pigsty. He is collapsed on the sofa with both kids on his chest. I instantly let go of my anger and cover them both with a blanket and make my way to bed.

The next day I'm out of the house before any of them are up and back at the hospital. I leave Calum a note so he knows where I am and stop off at the shops to buy Ashton some of his favourite snacks to try make his time a bit better in the hospital while he is being monitored.

''Hi sleepyhead.'' I say to my brother ruffling his hair. His eyes flutter open and he  lets out a little jump.

''You scared me.'' He said rubbing his eyes and sitting up in bed.

''Sorry. I thought I'd come early and we could watch some movies and stuff. I heard that new whiplash film is goooood'' I smile he nods his head and I set up the laptop.

Calum P.O.V

Five days straight Rebecca has been in the hospital with Ashton early till night.  I understand that Ashton is not the best but she has a family here as well , I have so much work stuff to be doing but I can't because I have to look after the kids. I don't know I guess I just miss her? Sounds pathetic I know but I want to spend every single minute I have with her before we go back on tour.

Tour!! What am I going to do. Do I take the kids and Rebecca with me or will that be too stressful? See these are the things I need to discuss with my wife. Wife? what about the divorce. A-Are we still getting the divorce? I need to talk to her about that as well. Come on Calum we're not getting a divorce we're together again. I say to myself but a part of me doesn't believe my own words.

I sent a quick text saying to Rebecca I'll cook us a meal and that she should be home at 8pm , within minutes she sent a text back saying okay. I got Michael and Sophia to babysit so I could make this night special for us.

Rebecca P.O.V

I received a text from Calum saying he wanted to cook for me. I thought it was a nice gesture because we haven't spent alot of time together this week because i've been visiting Ash. I send him a quick text back saying 'Okay :) ' . I turned my attention back to Ashton and my two other siblings Harry and Lauren. It was nice for them to visit since they've only come once the night it happened.

''How are you and Calum now?'' Lauren asked me while Harry and Ashton made small talk.

''Good. Really good. We're working it out.'' I smiled ,

Calum P.O.V

I opened the door letting in Michael and Sophia into the house.

''Hi.'' I said to Michael

''Hey'' Michael replied back

''IS IT HI OR HEYYY?'' Sophia squealed lunging forward and giving me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

''You married a fangirl alright.'' I laughed shaking my head , Sophia gave me a grin then hit me across the back of the head.

''Yep.'' Michael laughed.

''Thanks for looking after them tonight. I appriciate it , I know you have your two to deal with bu-''

''Calum its fine. Just remember you owe us when we want to go out.'' Sophia replied picking up one of the carriers with Rosalie in.

I leaned down to give Rosalie a kiss on the head then did the same for James as Michael picked him up and grabbed the overnight bags.

''The kids love the twins anyway'' Michael nodded , ''-Save me some food it smells great in here.'' he added causing a eye roll from Sophia.

''You never say that about my cooking!'' she said.

''LIES!''

''MICH-''

''Anyway we best not keep you , what time is she getting here?''Michael said cutting Sophia off , I let out a chuckle as she let out a deep breath then flipped him off not that he noticed.

''Any minute now so if you don't mind....''

''We're going. We're going.'' Sophia joked backing up and pulling Michaels arm.

''THANKS AGAIN GUYS.''I shouted down the driveway

''PUT A CLEAN T-SHIRT ON.'' Sophia yelled then got into the car.

I walked back inside and decided to listen to Sophs advice putting on a new t-shirt and sprayed on a bit of cologne. I made my way back to the kitchen setting up the table and then began serving the dinner. I picked up my phone to call Rebecca to tell her I was ready and to ask if she has left the hospital yet.

Rebeccas P.O.V

Ashton had come back from a confrontation with the doctor about if he wants to start taking medication or wants to try some counselling/therpay first. When he came back he looked a bit upset so I stayed an extra ten minutes , Calum rang me a few times. I sent him a quick text ' I'll be there a little late , sorry xx'.

''You can leave you know.'' Ashton said to me , I gave him a puzzled look and he nudged his head to my phone.

''Everythings fine . Just Calum checking up on me.'' I smile and place my phone back on the table , ''-So what have you decided to do?''

Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours. Ashton had fallen asleep and my mum was on her way , I decided I'd wait until she got here so Ashton wasn't on his own. I called up Calum to let him know but their was no answer. When he didn't answer after the 3rd call I just left him a voicemail , putting my phone back I was startled when Ashton was staring at me.

''Go.''

''Huh?'' I said

''Go home. I'll be fine.'' he said rubbing his eyes softly.

''Ashton its fin-''

''It didn't sound fine. Now go I'm fine I dont need babysitting Rebecca.''... ouch.

I drove home and pulled outside the apartment building , I groaned realizing I had just drove to the old address. Typical of me to do something like this , I see the familar brunette boy exciting the building. I freeze when he notices me and I've never drove faster out of a place so fast in my life.

When I arrive home finally home. I park the car and make my way to the front door , I open the door pushing the door open and am surprised by how dark the apartment is.

''Calum.'' I call out with a smile on my face, I squint letting out a soft laugh when he dont reply. I call his name again 'Calum', 'Calum this isn't funny , don't make me jump!' I say slipping my shoes off.

I see Calums silhouette sitting at the kitchen table , I turn on the kitchen light and jump back at the sight before me.

''L-Look who decided to show up.'' his words slurred as he raises the glass of what I presume is scotch to his lips.

''Calum are you drunk?''

''Maybe but If I am nice of you to notice.'' he smiles

''What the fuck. Where are the children?'' I say running a hand through my hair ,

''At Mikeys and Sophs. They offered to look after the kids , h-have a ro-romantic night they said-'' he lets out a low laugh placing the empty glass on the table. ''-Would of been if my wife bothered to show up.'' he mumbled

''Calum I called you , You know wh-''

''EXCUSES EXCUSES.'' he shouts grabbing the bottle and pouring himself anothr glass.

''Calum I-''

''No. You don't love me. You're just using me! I'LL LOOK AFTER THE KIDS WHILE YOURE OUT...''He says

''Of course not. Why would you think that , of course I lov-''

''I s-say you are a liar.'' he points to me taking another swig of the alcohol. I grab the glass from his hand pulling it back. He says something under his breath he reaches for the bottle but his coordination goes wrong and it ends up smashing on the floor.

''Calum for fuck sake!'' I curse jumping back slightly. I put my bag on the other seat and make him sit down on the other chair. I fill up a glass with water and order him to drink it. There is no point in me trying to lecture him when he wont remember this all in the morning.

''Reb talk to me.'' he whispers ''-I dont understand. I did all this and you didnt show up.''

''Cal-''

''I've been trying so so so hard for you. To make it u-up to you. But you dont seem to care.'' he sniffs. Now hes in his emotional drunk stage... fucking brilliant.

''Calum , We're working this out. I'm sorry I missed this dinner , you clearly made so much effort. I just dont understand why you have to get drunk.''

''You care about Ashton mo-more.'' ,

''Ashton is my brother Calum! You know he's been going throu-''

''SO HAVE I!'' He shouts , ''-I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH STUFF TO REBECCA.'' with every word that spills from his mouth it looks like he has been wounded. I don't know what he is going on about , I take one of his hands in mine and place the other on his cheek.

'-Calum what is going on. Whats wrong?'' I say softly , his eyes are glossy and he opens his mouth to say something but closes it again.

''- I want to go to sleep.'' he mumbles making his way up and towards the bedroom.

I choose to not push it any further and question him in the morning if he even remembers it, I look around the mess in the kitchen and let out a deep sigh. I pick up the cold plates of food and instantly feel full of regret that he put so much effort into this and I didn't turn up.

I empty the plates , wash them and put them away. I grab the brush and sweep up the glass scattered on the floor. When i'm finally done I skip making any food and just head to bed , Calum is curled up under the covers. I change into some shorts and a long 5sos merch t-shirt, I crawl into bed and instantly wrap my arms around Calums back nuzzling my face into his soft skin.

''I love you Calum Thomas Hood.'' I whisper into his hear , hoping he had heard.
