Camille
Looking for Josiah was much harder than I thought. I had checked online for locations that matched the places I had been with him, people he might be associated with, and I even asked my friends. I didn't actually asks the people in person, that'd probably just get me in even more trouble, I just looked up what he was involved with and got nothing. Another week had gone by and there was no sign of Josiah.
The only place I hadn't gone was his club, I was afraid of going back there but now it seemed like there was no other choice. I planned to go to the club this afternoon, I doubted he would be there but since he was the owner maybe I could leave a message.
I still hadn't heard too much from Tyler this week either, but I was giving him his space and I respected that he had a lot of work to do.
I showed up at the club around 5pm before opening hours and knocked on the door. A man came up and just pointed to the closed sign, "No um, I was wondering if Mr.Wells was here?" I ask.
He shakes his head and begins walking away. I groan, this is getting exhausting. I look inside the club again waiting for the man to come back so I can leave a message for Josiah.
The man frowns and walks over to me, "What?"
"Can you let him know I dropped by? And that I'm looking for him?" The man shakes his head, "Look honey, it was probably just a one night thing that's why he's not calling you back. You can't just come looking for him he doesn't want you."
I stare at the man strangely, "First of all, I never hooked up with him. This is business and I need to see him."
"So you should have his number then, he doesn't want to be disturbed right now." The man says before shutting the curtains. I scoff, "Rude!"
Since Josiah actually is in there, I have to find a way in. I walk around to the back of the club looking for a back entrance. I find one but it's locked of course. "Ma'am what are you doing here?" A voice asks behind me. I turn around to see Charlie, the man that guarded my door before that was nice to me.
"Charlie?"
He smiles but then frowns again, "Camille what are you doing here? It's not safe around here for you."
"Exactly that's why I need to find Josiah, he's the only one that can help me right now." Charlie shakes his head, "You have to get out of here now."
"Why?" I ask.
"I can't tell you but you've got to go."
"But I need to see Josiah."
"Camille." Charlie says firmly.
I sigh, "Okay I'm going gosh."
I walk away and Charlie waits for me to leave before he turns away again. Once I notice he's out of sight I turn right back around and continue looking for an entrance. I notice a catering company truck bringing food into the club through a lot. I quickly sneak under one of their carts and they roll me right into the clubs kitchen.
I waited for the coast to be clear before grabbing a caterers hat and apron and walking right out of the kitchen. I head upstairs to a room with Josiah's name on it. I groan when I notice the room is empty, all that work for an empty room.
Suddenly I hear someone approaching the door and quickly dive under the desk. "Doing business with you is always a pleasure." A voice says. "Now lets work out this deal." I recognize the second voice as Josiah's.
He takes a seat at his desk and a cower into a corner giving him space for his legs. The two men begin talking about something, I don't really know what but I know it was business related. And the other man soon leaves, once the door shuts Josiah stands up.
"Get out from there." He says angrily.
I crawl out from under his desk and stand up. "Heh hi."
He frowns, "Why are you here?"
"That mad man had someone attack me the other night in my bedroom, I need your help to get him off my back."
He snatched the catering hat off my head, "And why should I help you?"
I frown, "You got me into this!"
"Do you know how dangerous it is for you to be here right now? You're lucky I knew you were already here."
"You knew I was here? For how long?"
"Since you talked to the man in the window, I have security cameras."
"Then why didn't you just come see me?" I ask. "I have some of the worlds most dangerous men in the room next to this one. I was in a meeting, there was a reason you were being turned away. Jesus why don't you ever listen?"
I stay quiet and looking around the room. "Look I have to go back in there, you cannot leave this room. If those men see you you'll have much more than just Lancing to worry about, got it?"
I nod, "No I don't think you understand. Stay in this fucking room, I will let you out when they leave. I repeat do not leave the room."
"I get it sheesh." He groans before leaving the room. I take a seat on his office chair and decide to snoop while I wait. I just find information for the club, bills, employee checks, etc. I begin to get bored and pull out my phone to play with.
I wasn't going to leave the room, I wasn't stupid. I was getting bored and kind of sleepy, but I didn't feel comfortable falling asleep here. So I just continued waiting for Josiah's meeting to be over.
It wasn't until around 9:30 when Josiah came back into his office, locking the door behind him. "The meetings not over but I need to get you out of here." I frown, "I thought we were going to talk about this? I've been waiting 3 hours."
"I never said we'd talk about it now go while you have the chance." He tells me. "Josiah I'm not leaving until I know I won't be attacked in the middle of the night anymore, or even attacked on my way out of here!"
He groans, "Camille out now!" Suddenly there's a knock on the door, "What's taking so long Jo? We got business to discuss." A man says through the door. Josiah looks at me and puts a finger on his lips to shush me before turning toward the door. "I'll be ready in a moment." He says calmly.
He turns back to me, "Close your eyes."
I frown, "Um why?"
He rolls his eyes and grabs a tie from his drawer and ties it around my face covering my eyes. "What are you doing?" I ask. He doesn't answer and I feel myself being lifted off the ground and thrown over his shoulder. "Josiah what the hell?"
He puts me down after walking a little and I notice I'm on a couch, he takes off the blindfold and I'm in a nice looking room. He pulls out his phone to make a phone call, "Charlie come to the common room to watch this kid."
"I am not a kid." I tell him. "Stay here and wait for Charlie okay? We'll talk when my meeting is actually over alright?"
I nod and sit back into the chair, Charlie walks in and Josiah immediately walks out.
"Why didn't you go home kid? I warned you." Charlie asks. "I was attacked the other night! And I don't know who to go to about this Lancing guy. The police can't really help me and Josiah is the only one I know that knows him."
"Okay look, between you and I, he hired two bodyguards to watch out for you." I frown, "Wait what?"
"Yeah two big guys were hired to protect you."
"Wait so let me get this straight, Josiah hired two men to protect me? Then why does he keep refusing to help me?"
Charlie shrugs, "Probably so you don't think he cares about you or something. Don't tell him I told you about the body guards though okay? I only told you so you can stay away from here."
"Why are you so focused on me staying away from here?" I ask.
"You don't need to be sucked into this life more than you already have been." Suddenly Charlie's phone begins beeping and he pulls it out immediately. "Yes?"
I don't hear what the person on the other side is saying, but it brought fear in Charlie's eyes. He turned to me, "We've gotta get out of here, like now." He didn't waste time with grabbing my hand and leading me quickly to another door.
The door led to a long hallway that Charlie dragged me through, "What's going on?" I asked as we ran. He just told me to keep running and that he'll explain on the way.
We arrive at a parking garage suddenly and Charlie unlocks a black car, we get in quickly and speed off out of the garage.
It wasn't till we got out that I noticed we were being followed, "Charlie what the hell is going on?" I ask.
"Just put your head down." I put it down immediately and just wait for this high speed chase to be over. I begin to hear shooting behind us but they don't hit us. I knew we were going about 100 mph by now but I had no idea where we were going. All I knew is that I shouldn't have ever come back.
