Camille
I never really looked at Josiah's house the last time I was here. But his place was huge, not mansion huge or anything, but it was really big for only one person.
It was a two story house with a kind of cabin looking rustic bachelor pad look. A nurse rolled me into the living room with Josiah following behind. I was in a wheelchair because I couldn't be on crutches thanks to my arm. There were about 3 men outside guarding the gates and a bit of an extreme security system that required a fingerprint scan to enter the house.
"You should settle yourself in, Jane will show you to your room upstairs." I mumble a thanks to him as the nurse, aka Jane rolls me into what I believe is in elevator. "Is an elevator even necessary?" I mumble. Jane chuckles quietly and I smile at her. She was kind of young, maybe older. She sort of reminded me of Susan, age wise. They looked nothing alike though.
Jane was a black woman with shoulder length dark brown hair and brown eyes. "How old are you?" I ask her. "47."
I gasp, "No way." She nods with a smile. "You know it's not polite to just ask a woman her age." I blush, "I'm sorry, I thought you were younger."
She laughs, "Its okay darling, how old are you then?"
"I'm 23." I smile. "You must be quite important to Josiah for him to get me to watch over you." I shake my head, "Have you worked for him long?"
She nods, "Since he was a young boy. But when I wasn't working for him, I was his mothers friend." I nod, "So now you're his nurse?"
"Well I wasn't always his nurse, after his parents died he stayed with me. After college he came back and offered me a job that pays very well." I nod as we enter a bedroom.
It was pretty big, bigger than my bedroom in my apartment obviously but not too big. It was a comfortable looking room with a queen sized bed, tv, and a dresser. "Josiah's room is across the hall in case anything happens."
I nod again, "The bathroom is right next door and your things are already here in the dresser and closet."
"He got my things?" I ask. She nods, "Of course. Oh and I almost forgot." She pulls out a cellphone, "Since your last phone was destroyed he got you this. Your previous phone numbers are already programmed inside, along with his in case of emergency." She hands the phone to me.
I stare at it, this was nothing like my other phone. I was still stuck on the iPhone 5s, but this was an iPhone X, which didn't even exist yet. "Um thank you."
"Now that you've seen your room did you want to go down and eat? Or stay up here and relax?" She asks. "Is Josiah still here?"
She nods, "But he's working."
"I'll just eat in my room if that's okay." She nods, "Anything you want to eat in particular?"
I shake my head, "Anything you have is fine." She nods and heads downstairs to get my food. I hop out of the wheelchair and onto the bed and search for a tv remote. Having a cast was really no fun, the doctor said I'd have to wear it for about 6 weeks, and they said my ankle would be better whenever I felt I could walk on it again since it hadn't broken.
Jane came in with my lunch and explained to me when she'd be here. "I'll be here all day but I leave at 9:00. I usually show up at 8:00 am."
"So what would you do before I was here?" I ask. "I only come when Josiah needs me, he's hardly at this house. But he calls when he's hurt and needs someone to take care of him."
"Where does he stay if he's not always here?" She shrugs, "Not sure, but I know he has plenty of other places."
Jane and I talk most of the day before she leaves. But not before checking to make sure I'm alright by checking my head and ankle and changing the bandaging on my casts.
I say good bye to her as she leaves and decide to call in on my friends. "Camille! You're okay, thank God." Rosa exclaims through the phones. "That's Camille? Hey Cam!" Mitchie calls out in the background.
"You've been fucking Josiah Wells?!" Rosa exclaims before I get a chance to greet them back. I sigh, "I know I have a lot of explaining to do, but by the way I'm not being held captive."
"Oh we know, you sent us that text message remember?"
"What text message? That guy destroyed my phone. I just got this today."
Rosa pauses, "Well we know you're okay now then." I shake my head, "So how long has this been going on? Is he the mystery sugar daddy?" Mitchie asks.
"Nothing is going on, I'll explain everything when I see you guys in person alright? Don't tell anyone about where I am, just say I got into a car accident and I'm staying with an aunt or something."
"You so owe us when you get back."
"I know I know, I love you guys. See you soon!" I send them kisses before hanging up and hopping out of bed and toward my wheelchair. "This is so unnecessary." I groan as I try to wheel myself out of the room. I instead grab one of the crutches leaning against the wall and use it to walk toward the elevator.
When I get downstairs I head toward the kitchen to get a snack when I notice the lights are already on. Josiah is in the kitchen shirtless just eating a pudding cup. He sets it down on the table when he notices me. "I thought you were asleep already."
"It's only 10:30." I tell him. He shrugs, "It's pretty late, you should get some rest."
"I will I just came down for a snack." He looks me up and down and frowns, "Where's your wheelchair?"
"It's unnecessary, I can walk."
"But you're not supposed to put any pressure on your arm."
I point at my other arm, "This arm is perfectly fine." He shakes his head, "What if you lose your balance and fall? You could hit your head."
I groan as I open up the fridge and grab a pudding cup, "Why do you care so much all of a sudden?"
"I don't."
I roll my eyes, "Whatever, I'm heading back upstairs." I begin to waddle away with my one crutch toward the elevator. "Let me just help you." He says coming up behind me and carrying me off the ground. "I don't need to be carried." I frown.
He ignores me and carries me up the stairs into my bedroom. The nurse had already helped me get ready for bed so all I had to do now was go to sleep. "Good night." I call out as Josiah walks out of the room.
"Good night." He says before shutting my door behind him. I didn't eat my pudding, I just left it on the table next to me and decided to eat it tomorrow. I pick up my phone to scroll through Instagram when I notice I have 4 text messages from Tyler.
I had almost forgot about him, should I call him? I read the text that were sent to me about an hour ago.
Tyler: I heard about the accident are you okay? Call me as soon as you get this.
Tyler: What hospital are you at? No one is telling me anything
Tyler: Okay now I've been told you're staying with your aunt, but no one will give me an address.
Tyler: Please just call me back or something I'm worried.
I smile at my concerned boyfriends text messages and decide to call him back. He picks up on the first ring, "Camille are you okay?"
I chuckle, "Yeah I'm fine, just resting."
"What happened? Where are you? You've been gone for like a week." He asks. "I was in a car accident, apparently I was in a coma for 3 days and now I'm staying with my aunt across town."
"You could've come to stay with me, I could take care of you." I smile, "My aunt insisted."
"Am I able to come visit you? What's the address?" He asks. "Um actually my aunt doesn't want me having visitors just yet, soon though I'm sorry."
"Oh okay, can I FaceTime you or something then? I miss you." I blush, "Of course."
I hang up the call and switch it to FaceTime, but not before fixing my hair and sitting up. "Hey babe." Tyler smiles as his face shows up on my screen. He looks down toward my arm, "You broke your arm?"
I nod, "Yes but it is healing just fine, I also sprained an ankle."
"You poor baby, I wish I could come see you." I smile, "I know I wish you could too, I'll see you soon though okay?"
He nods, "Of course, let me let you get some rest. Good night babe."
"Good night." I say before blowing him a kiss and hanging up. I lay back and stare up at the ceiling. I wasn't tired, I had already had a nap today and I didn't feel like staying in my room. I hop off of my bed and onto the wheelchair deciding to explore the upstairs of the house.
I wheel my way around the 2nd floor and explore all of the different rooms. Most were just bedrooms and bathrooms and one library. There was another room with a keypad lock on it that made me curious as to what it was. Then there was the door to Josiah's bedroom. There wasn't much to do upstairs besides sleep and watch tv and I wanted to go downstairs.
I head over to the elevator and try to open it but apparently that needs a fingerprint scan as well. I put my finger on it and an alarm immediately goes off. Two men come out from nowhere with their guns pointed at me and Josiah runs out from his room with a gun. When they all realize it's just me they let out a sigh of relief and the men head back to where they came from.
"What are you doing out of bed?" Josiah asks grumpily. "I'm not tired and I wanted to go downstairs." I say quietly, still a bit dazed from having 3 guns pointed at me. "Well it's late so you should stay in your room."
"But I've been in there all day."
"Who's fault is that?" I frown at him, "Yours obviously." He ignores me and rubs his eye before walking back toward his bedroom. "Hey wait where are you going? Aren't you going to help me get down stairs?"
He shakes his head, "What do you wanna do downstairs that you can't do in your room?"
I shrug, "That's what I'm going to find out."
"Just go play with your phone in your room." He says pushing me back toward my room. I try to stop the chair from moving but he gets me there anyway. "You can hang out down there tomorrow okay? Good night." He yawns before shutting my door and heading to his room.
I groan and decide to get to bed anyway.
