It was indeed Gu Nantian!

What was he doing here?

He wouldn’t be spouting nonsense in front of her mother, would he?

Xu Zhiyin went into the house. Qiao stood at the entrance of the living hall and when he saw her, he greeted, “Hello, Dr. Xu.”

“What are you both doing here?” Xu Zhiyin frowned. She was so anxious, she almost broke into a cold sweat.

“You know I can’t stop Master from doing what he wishes to do,” Qiao replied innocently.

Xu Zhiyin went in and saw Gu Nantian sitting on the couch. Madam Xu came out with some fruits from the kitchen, “Come, have some fruits!”

When Xu Zhiyin appeared, Gu Nantian could sense her presence. He raised his head.

Usually, in the past, he would happily call her darling when he saw her but today, he was unusually quiet.

Xu Zhiyin looked at the harmonious atmosphere and felt strange. Her mother was attending to Gu Nantian politely.

Madam Xu raised her head and looked at Xu Zhiyin who had spaced out. “Why are you standing there? Xiao Gu says he’s your patient and he’s here to thank you.”

“Thank me?” After Xu Zhiyin become a doctor, some of her patients would come to her house to thank her after they had recovered.

It looked like Gu Nantian did not utter nonsense in front of her mother!

She let out a sigh of relief and walked over. “Mr. Gu, let’s talk outside.”

Her mother was here and there were many things Xu Zhiyin dared not say. At the same time, she was afraid Gu Nantian would say things that he shouldn’t say and her mother would hear them.

Gu Nantian looked at Xu Zhiyin and smiled. He didn’t want to move, “I wish to chat a little longer with Aunt Xu.”

“That’s right! You can discuss here. He’s our guest. How could you chase him away when you come home?” Madam Xu didn’t know Gu Nantian’s status. She had been totally kept in the dark.

Xu Zhiyin clenched her teeth and looked at Gu Nantian. She thought of using her glance to warn him but he didn’t look at her on purpose.

He accepted the fruits offered by Madam Xu and started eating the fruits.

Xu Zhiyin stared at him and sat down helplessly. She looked at Gu Nantian while her heart raced. She was afraid Gu Nantian would utter words which shouldn’t be said.

Madam Xu asked, “Xiao Gu, what does your family do?”

“We are doing business.” Gu Nantian smiled. He looked so much like an obedient child, unlike the impressive and powerful Master Gu who usually ignored people.

“Mother.” Xu Zhiyin interrupted her mother, “Why do you ask him all this?”

“I’m just asking.” Madam Xu darted Xu Zhiyin a look. “We adults are talking, don’t interrupt.”

“I’m no longer a child.” In her mother’s eyes, she was a little kid who didn’t know anything.

Gu Nantian said, “It’s okay, I don’t mind Aunt asking me this.”

“Xiao Gu is sensible, unlike you.” Madam Xu gave Xu Zhiyin a look of dislike.

Since Xu Zhiyin divorced, she had been disagreeable in her mother’s eyes.

Xu Zhiyin was used to this. She sat by one side and listened to Gu Nantian chat with her mother.

The questions Madam Xu asked were ordinary. When she knew Gu Nantian’s parents had passed away, she pitied him.

On the other hand, Gu Nantian was calm, “I’m fine, Aunt.”

When he talked, his eyes fell on Xu Zhiyin from time to time.

When Xu Zhiyin was looked at, she guiltily shifted her vision.

Luckily, just then, the servant came over and informed Madam Xu, “Madam, you have a call.”

“I’ll go and answer the call. Both of you may chat first.” Madam Xu stood up and walked out of the living hall.

That instant, Xu Zhiyin’s heart fell. She looked at Gu Nantian and finally asked him, “Gu Nantian, what are you doing in my house? Didn’t I tell you last time not to mess with my family?”

Gu Nantian sat on the couch. His arms were on the armrest of the couch. He looked at Xu Zhiyin and replied, “I came to look for you.”

“Why couldn’t you call me?” Xu Zhiyin felt gloomy, “If my mother were to know your identity…”

“So, what if she knows?” Gu Nantian asked as he raised his brows.

Xu Zhiyin was taken aback!

That’s right!

If her mother really knew Gu Nantian’s identity, what could she do?

She looked at Gu Nantian. “Are you still angry about what happened before?”

Gu Nantian pursed his lips and did not say anything.

Taking advantage of the absence of her mother, Xu Zhiyin stood up. “Follow me, I’ll see you off! It’s late, it’s time you go home.”

Gu Nantian kept quiet. Since Xu Zhiyin stood up, he stood up too. He stretched out his hand to grab Xu Zhiyin’s arm and pulled her into his embrace.

His sudden gesture scared Xu Zhiyin. She quickly pushed him but he couldn’t be pushed away. “Gu Nantian, what are you doing? Let go of me quickly.”

Goodness, if her mother were to walk out now, she would be doomed!

Although Gu Nantian had good looks, was wealthy and powerful, Madam Xu would not forget Ji Liunian because of this.

Just these few days, Madam Xu had not stopped planning how to let Xu Zhiyin remarry Ji Liunian.

Gu Nantian held her tightly. His hug was like a punishment. With a low and deep voice, he asked, “Why is there a doctor in my house?”

Xu Zhiyin was stunned, “What do you mean?”

Gu Nantian’s voice was cold, “The director said you didn’t want to work for me, so he got me another doctor. Xu Zhiyin, you don’t want me anymore?”

His words made Xu Zhiyin bafflingly guilty.

However, at this moment, she couldn’t think of anything else. All she wanted was to part Gu Nantian’s hand. “Let go of me, my mother is coming out soon. Are you trying to put me in trouble?”

“So what if your mother comes out? You’re an adult, do you need to hide these things?”

It was all Xu Zhiyin’s fault. She had rejected him from the bottom of her heart and didn’t allow him to have any contact with her family members.

Xu Zhiyin was so anxious she had ants in her pants. She pleaded when he didn’t let go of her, “Can you please go outside to talk?”

Gu Nantian whispered into her ears coldly, “I’m very angry and I don’t wish to listen to you.”

“I was wrong!” Xu Zhiyin understood when this man had his temper, she should not use the hard approach but rather the soft approach of coaxing him, “It’s all my fault. I’ll explain to you outside.”

“Explain now.” Gu Nantian said coldly while still holding her tightly, not allowing her to escape.

He was really annoyed!

She made him angry and he waited for her to explain. Not only did she not explain, she ran away. He could let that be. He thought Xu Zhiyin would leave for two days and would come back but out of his expectation, she quit her job and wanted to cut her ties with him forever!

This cruel woman!

He finally knew, he was not in her heart, not even a bit.

Xu Zhiyin braced herself to explain, “You were so angry that day. I thought you wouldn’t want me to work for you anymore. So, I thought I’ll stay far away from you so I won’t provoke you.”

“Hmph!” Gu Nantian was in disdain.

Xu Zhiyin said, “I’ve explained. Please let go of me now.”

He threatened, “I think we’d better discuss with Aunt Xu about our wedding.”
