Chapter 10

A glimpse of forever

oneshots (Jikook)

Jimin had always believed in love at first sight, but he never imagined it would happen to him. He was always the one giving advice to his friends, telling them to wait for the right person and that love would find them when they least expected it. Little did he know, his words would come back to him in the most unexpected way.

It was a crisp autumn afternoon when Jimin found himself wandering through a small park near his university. The trees were adorned with shades of orange and gold, their leaves dancing in the gentle breeze. Jimin had just finished a long day of classes, and he decided to take a moment to breathe, enjoy the scenery, and maybe snap a few pictures for his Instagram.

As he was adjusting the focus on his phone camera, he noticed someone sitting on a bench a few feet away. The figure was dressed in all black, from the oversized hoodie to the ripped jeans and combat boots. His jet-black hair fell over his eyes, shielding him from the world as he stared intently at a book in his hands.

Jimin’s breath hitched as he caught a glimpse of the boy’s side profile. There was something about him that drew Jimin in, something mysterious yet oddly comforting. His heart skipped a beat, and he felt a strange warmth spreading through his chest.

Before he knew it, Jimin found himself walking towards the boy, his feet moving on their own. He wasn’t sure what he was going to say, but he knew he had to say something—anything.

When he reached the bench, the boy looked up from his book, and Jimin’s world stopped. Deep brown eyes met his, and for a moment, it felt like time stood still. The boy’s gaze was intense, yet there was a softness in his expression that made Jimin’s heart race.

“Hi,” Jimin managed to say, his voice barely above a whisper.

The boy blinked, seemingly surprised that someone had approached him. “Hi,” he replied, his voice low and smooth, sending shivers down Jimin’s spine.

“I’m Jimin,” he introduced himself, a nervous smile playing on his lips.

“Jungkook,” the boy replied, his gaze never leaving Jimin’s.

Jimin felt his heart flutter at the sound of Jungkook’s name. It was simple, yet it carried a weight that made it unforgettable.

“What are you reading?” Jimin asked, trying to keep the conversation going.

Jungkook hesitated for a moment before showing Jimin the cover of the book. It was a classic—Pride and Prejudice.

Jimin’s eyes widened in surprise. “I wouldn’t have pegged you as someone who enjoys romance novels.”

Jungkook’s lips curled into a small smile. “There’s more to me than meets the eye.”

Jimin felt his cheeks flush at the way Jungkook looked at him, as if he could see right through him. “Do you mind if I sit with you?” Jimin asked, feeling a bit bolder now.

Jungkook shook his head. “Not at all.”

Jimin sat down beside Jungkook, their shoulders brushing lightly. There was a comfortable silence between them as they both took in the serene atmosphere of the park. Jimin stole a few glances at Jungkook, admiring the way the sunlight highlighted the sharp angles of his face.

“So, what brings you here?” Jungkook asked after a while, breaking the silence.

“I needed a break from studying,” Jimin replied. “And you?”

Jungkook shrugged. “I like the quiet. It helps me think.”

Jimin nodded, understanding what he meant. There was something peaceful about being in nature, away from the noise of the city.

As they continued to talk, Jimin found himself drawn to Jungkook’s quiet confidence. There was an air of mystery about him, but at the same time, he was warm and inviting in his own way. The more they talked, the more Jimin felt a connection growing between them.

When the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the park, Jimin realized that he didn’t want their time together to end.

“It’s getting late,” Jungkook said, his voice tinged with reluctance.

“Yeah,” Jimin agreed, though he didn’t want to leave.

Jungkook stood up, slipping his book into his backpack. “I’m glad we met today, Jimin.”

“Me too,” Jimin said, smiling up at him.

Jungkook hesitated for a moment before speaking again. “Would you… would you like to meet here again sometime?”

Jimin’s heart soared at the question. “I’d love that.”

A small smile tugged at Jungkook’s lips, and Jimin felt his chest tighten at the sight. They exchanged numbers, and as Jungkook walked away, Jimin couldn’t help but feel like he had just met someone who would change his life forever.

As he watched Jungkook’s figure disappear into the distance, Jimin knew one thing for sure—this was just the beginning of something beautiful. And for the first time in his life, he truly understood what it meant to fall in love at first sight.

Jimin couldn't stop thinking about Jungkook after their encounter in the park. Every time his phone buzzed, his heart would leap, hoping it was a message from Jungkook. And more often than not, it was.

Their conversations were easy, flowing from one topic to another, like they had known each other for years. They talked about everything—books, movies, music, their dreams, and fears. The more Jimin learned about Jungkook, the more he found himself falling for him.

One crisp evening, a few weeks after their first meeting, Jungkook asked Jimin if he wanted to go out for dinner. It wasn’t a formal invitation, but something about the way Jungkook worded it made Jimin’s heart skip a beat. Was this a date?

Jimin spent an embarrassing amount of time getting ready, agonizing over what to wear and how to style his hair. He finally settled on something casual but nice—a soft cream-colored sweater and black jeans. He wanted to look good, but not like he was trying too hard.

When he arrived at the small, cozy restaurant Jungkook had suggested, he found Jungkook waiting for him outside, looking effortlessly handsome in a simple black jacket and white t-shirt. Jimin’s heart fluttered at the sight of him.

“You look amazing,” Jungkook said as soon as he saw Jimin, his eyes sparkling.

“So do you,” Jimin replied, feeling his cheeks warm under Jungkook’s gaze.

The dinner was perfect. They talked and laughed, sharing stories and memories as they enjoyed their meal. Jungkook was attentive, his eyes never leaving Jimin, making him feel like he was the only person in the world. The atmosphere was intimate, the dim lighting and soft music creating a bubble around them, making Jimin forget about everything else.

As they walked out of the restaurant, the cool night air hit them, making Jimin shiver slightly. Jungkook noticed and immediately draped his jacket over Jimin’s shoulders.

“Thank you,” Jimin said, smiling up at Jungkook as they walked side by side, their hands brushing against each other.

Jungkook hesitated for a moment before gently taking Jimin’s hand in his. The gesture was simple, but it sent a wave of warmth through Jimin. He looked down at their intertwined fingers, his heart swelling with emotion.

“I really like you, Jimin,” Jungkook said quietly, his voice sincere.

Jimin’s breath caught in his throat. He looked up at Jungkook, seeing the vulnerability in his eyes. It was a rare glimpse into the emotions Jungkook often kept hidden behind his cool exterior.

“I really like you too, Jungkook,” Jimin confessed, his voice just as soft.

Jungkook’s face lit up with a smile, and before Jimin could react, Jungkook leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to his forehead. Jimin’s heart soared at the gentle affection, feeling like he was floating on air.

From that moment on, things changed between them. They spent more and more time together, exploring the city, watching movies, and even studying together. Jimin loved how Jungkook would get so focused on his work, his eyebrows furrowing in concentration, only to look up and smile at Jimin as if to say, *I’m glad you’re here*.

Their relationship grew stronger with each passing day. Jungkook was always there to support Jimin, whether he needed help with his studies or just someone to talk to after a long day. And Jimin was always there to cheer Jungkook on, encouraging him to pursue his dreams and reminding him of his worth.

One evening, as they were lying on Jimin’s bed, tangled up in each other’s arms, Jimin couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of happiness. He turned his head to look at Jungkook, who was staring up at the ceiling, lost in thought.

“What are you thinking about?” Jimin asked, his voice soft and filled with affection.

Jungkook turned to look at him, a small smile playing on his lips. “I’m thinking about how lucky I am to have met you.”

Jimin’s heart swelled with emotion. “I’m the lucky one,” he whispered, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to Jungkook’s lips.

Jungkook responded immediately, deepening the kiss as he pulled Jimin closer. It was slow and tender, filled with all the unspoken words and emotions they hadn’t yet shared. When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless, their foreheads resting against each other.

“I love you,” Jungkook murmured, his voice barely audible.

Jimin’s eyes widened in surprise, his heart pounding in his chest. He had been waiting to hear those words, but he hadn’t expected them to come out so soon.

But the truth was, he had known he loved Jungkook from the moment they met in that park. There was something about him that made Jimin feel like he had found his other half, someone who completed him in every way.

“I love you too, Jungkook,” Jimin replied, his voice trembling with emotion.

Jungkook’s eyes softened, and he pulled Jimin into a tight embrace, holding him like he never wanted to let go. And Jimin knew that he never wanted to let go either.

As they lay there, wrapped up in each other’s warmth, Jimin realized that this was what he had been searching for all along. It was more than just love at first sight—it was the beginning of forever. And with Jungkook by his side, Jimin knew that his forever was going to be beautiful.
