A promise unbroken
oneshots (Jikook)
The soft hum of the city filtered through the open window of their shared apartment. It was one of those rare quiet nights where neither of them had schedules, a perfect opportunity to relax together. But instead of enjoying each otherâs company, the air between Jungkook and Jimin was thick with unspoken tension.
Jungkook stood by the window, his gaze fixed on the city lights that blurred through his unshed tears. Jimin, on the other hand, sat on the edge of their bed, his fingers nervously twisting the fabric of his sweater. The room felt too small, too suffocating, for what they both knew was coming.
âWe canât keep doing this, Jimin,â Jungkook finally broke the silence, his voice barely above a whisper.
Jiminâs heart clenched at the words. He had known this conversation was inevitable, yet hearing it out loud felt like a dagger to the chest. âSo⦠this is it?â he asked, his voice trembling.
Jungkook turned to face him, his eyes glistening. âI donât want to hurt you anymore. We keep fighting, and itâs tearing us apart.â
Jiminâs vision blurred as tears welled up in his eyes. âI know⦠but I donât want to lose you.â
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The weight of their relationship, all the highs and lows, the laughter and tears, hung heavy in the air. They had been each otherâs everything for so long, but now it seemed like they were slipping away from each other.
âI think we need a break,â Jungkook said softly, his voice thick with emotion. âTo figure things out. To see if this is really what we both want.â
Jimin nodded, though it felt like his heart was shattering into pieces. âIf thatâs what you think is bestâ¦â
The decision was made. They packed a few of their things, and with heavy hearts, Jungkook left the apartment, leaving Jimin alone in the silence that followed.

Days turned into weeks, and the void left by Jungkookâs absence was like a gaping wound in Jiminâs heart. He went through the motions, attending practices, smiling for the cameras, but inside, he was aching. Everywhere he looked, he was reminded of Jungkookâthe shared coffee cups, the lingering scent of his cologne on the pillows, the half-empty closet that once held his clothes.
Jungkook wasnât faring much better. He tried to distract himself with work, spending more time at the gym or in the studio, but his thoughts always drifted back to Jimin. The nights were the hardest, when heâd lie in bed and stare at the empty space beside him, his heart aching for the warmth and comfort heâd taken for granted.
Despite the pain, the time apart gave them both clarity. They realized that no matter how much they fought, how much they hurt each other, their love was still stronger than anything else. The thought of a future without the other was unbearable.
It was a rainy evening when Jungkook finally found himself back at their apartment door, soaked to the bone. He hesitated for a moment, fear gnawing at him, but he knew he had to do this. He knocked softly, and when the door opened, Jimin stood there, his eyes wide with surprise.
âJungkookâ¦?â Jiminâs voice was barely a whisper.
Jungkook looked into Jiminâs eyes, the warmth and love he had missed so much flooding his heart. âIâm sorry, Jimin. I was wrong. I thought we needed to be apart to fix things, but all it did was make me realize how much I need you.â
Jiminâs eyes filled with tears again, but this time they were tears of relief. âI missed you so much,â he choked out, stepping forward to wrap his arms around Jungkook.
Jungkook hugged him tightly, burying his face in Jiminâs shoulder. âI promise Iâll do better, Jimin. Weâll figure this out together. I canât lose you.â
Jimin pulled back slightly to look at Jungkook, a small smile playing on his lips despite his tears. âWeâll be okay, Jungkook. Weâre stronger together.â
They sealed their promise with a kiss, a gentle meeting of lips that spoke of love, forgiveness, and a future they would face hand in hand. The rain continued to fall outside, but inside, their hearts were warm and full, knowing that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
