Chapter 13

In the spotlight, behind the scenes

oneshots (Jikook)

The roar of the crowd echoed through the stadium, each cheer amplifying the electric energy that filled the air. BTS had just wrapped up another sold-out concert, and as they took their final bow, the seven members felt the rush of adrenaline that always accompanied a successful performance. Jungkook’s gaze instinctively drifted to his right, where Jimin was beaming at the fans, his smile wide and eyes sparkling with joy.

Jungkook’s heart swelled with pride and something deeper, a feeling he’d long since stopped trying to define. There was just something about Jimin that always drew him in—a warmth that made the cold, relentless world of stardom a little easier to navigate.

Backstage was a flurry of activity, with staff congratulating them, and members exchanging quick words of encouragement before heading to their dressing rooms. Jungkook lingered behind, watching as Jimin chatted animatedly with Taehyung, his laughter like music to Jungkook’s ears.

Once the crowd dispersed and the members started winding down, Jungkook slipped away to the quiet corner of the dressing room where he knew Jimin would be. Sure enough, Jimin was there, sitting on the plush couch with a content sigh, his fingers playing with the hem of his stage outfit.

“You were amazing tonight,” Jungkook said softly, his voice cutting through the silence.

Jimin looked up, surprised but pleased by the compliment. “You too, Kookie. You always are.”

Jungkook felt a shy smile tug at his lips as he sat down beside Jimin. The energy that had been buzzing around them all night seemed to settle into a comfortable hum, leaving just the two of them in their own little world. They didn’t need words to fill the space between them; the understanding and connection they shared was enough.

As they sat there, the weight of their responsibilities and the unspoken pressures of being idols started to fade. In moments like this, they weren’t BTS’s Jungkook and Jimin—they were just Jungkook and Jimin, two boys who had grown up together, learned together, and found comfort in each other amidst the chaos of their lives.

Jungkook hesitated for a moment before reaching out, his hand finding Jimin’s. Jimin looked at him, his eyes softening as he intertwined their fingers, squeezing gently. It was a simple gesture, but one that spoke volumes—about the trust they had in each other, about the unspoken bond that had only grown stronger over the years.

“Sometimes,” Jungkook began, his voice barely above a whisper, “I wish we could just stay like this, away from everything. Just you and me.”

Jimin’s gaze softened even more, and he leaned in, resting his head on Jungkook’s shoulder. “Me too, Kookie. But I’m glad we have these moments, even if they’re brief. They mean everything to me.”

Jungkook’s heart fluttered at Jimin’s words, and he turned his head slightly to press a gentle kiss to the top of Jimin’s head. The gesture was full of tenderness, a silent promise that no matter what the world threw at them, they would always have each other.

The world outside their little bubble was demanding and often overwhelming, but in these quiet moments, away from the cameras and the lights, Jungkook knew they could find peace in each other. And that was enough.

As the night wore on and the stadium lights dimmed, Jungkook and Jimin remained in their quiet corner, their fingers still intertwined, their hearts beating in sync. In the spotlight, they were idols, but behind the scenes, they were something even more precious—each other’s safe haven.
