Chapter 15

A new beginning

oneshots (Jikook)

Jeon Jungkook sighed as he parked his car in front of the small, brightly colored building. He glanced at the rearview mirror where his son, Jungwoo, was sleeping soundly in his car seat. Today was the first day of kindergarten, and Jungkook was feeling more nervous than his son would ever be.

It had been a rough couple of years for Jungkook. Being a single parent wasn't something he had planned, but life had a way of throwing curveballs. He loved his son more than anything, but the loneliness often gnawed at him. Raising a child on his own while managing his job had left him with little time for himself.

He reached back to gently shake Jungwoo awake. The little boy blinked up at him with sleepy eyes, his hair a tousled mess.

“Come on, buddy. It’s time for your first day of school,” Jungkook said softly.

Jungwoo rubbed his eyes and nodded, a small smile forming on his lips. "Okay, Daddy."

Jungkook got out of the car and carefully unbuckled Jungwoo from his seat. He held his son’s tiny hand as they walked toward the school’s entrance. As they stepped inside, the sight of colorful walls adorned with children’s drawings and the sound of laughter made Jungkook feel a little less anxious.

“Hi there!” a cheerful voice called out.

Jungkook looked up to see a man approaching them with a warm smile. He was petite, with soft blond hair that curled at the ends, and his eyes sparkled with kindness. He wore a pastel sweater and jeans that seemed to fit him perfectly, exuding warmth and comfort.

“Welcome to Maplewood Kindergarten! You must be Jungwoo,” the man said, crouching down to Jungwoo’s level. “I’m Mr. Park, but you can call me Jimin.”

Jungwoo nodded shyly, hiding slightly behind Jungkook’s leg. Jimin smiled gently and offered his hand to the boy.

“It’s okay, I know it’s a little scary at first, but I promise we’re going to have a lot of fun today,” Jimin said encouragingly.

Jungkook couldn’t help but notice how Jimin’s voice was soft and soothing, immediately putting his son at ease. Jungwoo hesitated for a moment before taking Jimin’s hand, his small fingers curling around Jimin’s.

“That’s the spirit!” Jimin cheered softly. He looked up at Jungkook, his smile never fading. “And you must be Jungkook-ssi. It’s nice to meet you.”

Jungkook nodded, feeling a little flustered by the teacher’s warmth. “Yes, that’s me. Thank you for taking care of Jungwoo.”

“It’s my pleasure,” Jimin replied. “We’re like a big family here, so I’ll make sure Jungwoo feels right at home.”

Jungkook watched as Jimin led Jungwoo into the classroom, where other children were playing with toys and drawing pictures. He felt a pang of worry but forced himself to let go. This was a good thing for his son.

“Don’t worry, Jungkook-ssi,” Jimin said, turning back to him with a reassuring smile. “He’ll be just fine. You can pick him up at 3 PM.”

Jungkook nodded again, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. “Thank you, Jimin-ssi. I appreciate it.”

As he turned to leave, Jungkook couldn’t help but glance back at Jimin, who was already engaging Jungwoo in a game with the other children. There was something about the teacher that put him at ease, something comforting.

Maybe this new chapter wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Over the next few weeks, Jungkook found himself looking forward to dropping Jungwoo off at kindergarten. It wasn’t just because his son seemed to be thriving under Jimin’s care, but because he had grown to enjoy his brief interactions with the kindergarten teacher.

Jimin had a way of making everyone feel special. He greeted every child by name, knew what they liked, and was always ready with a comforting word or a smile. Jungkook found himself lingering at the door just to watch Jimin in action.

One afternoon, as Jungkook arrived to pick up Jungwoo, he noticed the boy was still playing with some toys in the corner of the room. Jimin was sitting nearby, watching over the children as they finished their activities.

“Hey, Jungwoo,” Jungkook called softly as he approached. Jungwoo looked up and smiled widely, running to his father with open arms.

“Daddy! Look what I made!” Jungwoo said excitedly, holding up a colorful drawing of a house with a big sun shining above it.

“That’s amazing, buddy,” Jungkook praised, ruffling his son’s hair. He looked up to see Jimin walking over, a soft smile on his face.

“Jungwoo is very creative,” Jimin commented, his eyes filled with pride for the boy. “He’s been talking about you a lot too, Jungkook-ssi.”

“Good things, I hope?” Jungkook chuckled, though his heart swelled at the thought.

“Only the best,” Jimin said with a wink. “He really loves you a lot. It’s clear you’re doing a great job.”

Jungkook felt his cheeks heat up slightly at the compliment. “Thank you, Jimin-ssi. That means a lot coming from you.”

Jimin smiled, a soft blush on his cheeks as well. “You don’t have to be so formal. You can just call me Jimin.”

“Only if you drop the ‘ssi’,” Jungkook teased lightly.

“Deal,” Jimin laughed, his eyes crinkling adorably at the corners.

They stood there for a moment, an easy silence settling between them. Jungwoo had already run off to grab his backpack, leaving the two adults alone.

“Jungkook,” Jimin started, his tone a bit more serious, “I know it’s not easy being a single parent. But I want you to know that you’re not alone. If you ever need someone to talk to, or even just a friend, I’m here.”

Jungkook was taken aback by the sincerity in Jimin’s voice. He hadn’t realized how much he needed to hear those words until now. His throat tightened slightly, but he managed a small smile.

“Thank you, Jimin. I might take you up on that offer.”

Jimin’s smile widened, and for a moment, Jungkook felt something warm and unfamiliar blossom in his chest.

Maybe, just maybe, this new beginning was exactly what he needed.

As the months passed, Jungkook and Jimin’s bond deepened. What started as friendly conversations at drop-off and pick-up times slowly grew into something more. They began texting each other after school hours, sharing funny stories about Jungwoo and their daily lives.

Jungkook found himself looking forward to their exchanges. It was the first time in a long while that he had someone outside of his son to talk to. And it didn’t hurt that Jimin was kind, understanding, and had a sense of humor that matched his own.

One evening, after a particularly long day at work, Jungkook received a message from Jimin.

*Jimin*: Hey, how was your day?

Jungkook smiled as he replied.

*Jungkook*: Exhausting. But seeing Jungwoo’s smile makes it all worth it.

*Jimin*: I bet. He talks about you all the time, you know. You’re his hero.

Jungkook’s heart swelled at the thought. He always tried his best to be there for his son, but knowing that Jungwoo saw him as a hero made all the struggles worth it.

*Jungkook*: That means a lot. Thank you for being so great with him, Jimin.

*Jimin*: It’s my pleasure, really. He’s a wonderful kid, and you’re an amazing dad.

*Jungkook*: You’re too kind. I really appreciate everything you do.

There was a pause in the conversation before Jimin’s next message came through.

*Jimin*: You know, if you’re not too busy this weekend… maybe we could hang out? I’d love to spend some time with you and Jungwoo outside of school.

Jungkook’s breath hitched at the suggestion. It was unexpected, but the idea of spending more time with Jimin, getting to know him better, was incredibly appealing.

*Jungkook*: That sounds like a great idea. We’d love to hang out with you, Jimin.

Jimin’s reply was instant.

*Jimin*: Great! How about we go to the park? We can have a picnic and let Jungwoo play.

*Jungkook*: Perfect. Let’s do it.

As Jungkook set his phone down, he couldn’t help the smile that spread across his face. For the first time in years, he felt excited about the possibility of something new. Maybe this was more than just a new beginning—it was the start of something truly special.

The weekend came, and Jungkook found himself more nervous than he had been in a long time. He and Jungwoo arrived at the park a little early, setting up a small blanket under a tree. Jungwoo was already eager to run off to the playground, but Jungkook managed to keep him close for now.

“Is Mr. Jimin coming, Daddy?” Jungwoo asked, his eyes wide with anticipation.

“Yes, he’ll be here soon,” Jungkook said

“daddy?"

“hmm?"

“Can we make Mr. Jimin my appa?" Jungwoo asked making jungkook shocked

“what?"

“i love him daddy he takes care of me so much and he always remind me to be kind and to be understanding with you he loves me daddy I want him to take care of you too" jungwoo said with beautiful expression

"Hi guys" jimin came with beautiful smile on his face

"Mr.jimin will you be my appa?" Jungwoo asked jimin's eyes widen he looks at jungkook who's eyes filled with hope

“do you want me to be your appa? what if your father don't want me as your appa?"

Jimin said and jungwoo look at his daddy

"Thousand times yess" jimin shout and jungwoo hug his Mr jimin and jungkook hugs both of them
