Chapter 34

Breaking legs and Tying knots

oneshots (Jikook)

The soft glow of the evening sun bathed Jimin's room as he lay sprawled on his bed, scrolling through Instagram. A new notification popped up: a follow request from "JK_97." He tapped on the profile, eyebrows furrowing at the simple bio: "Jeon Jungkook | Artist | Dreamer."

"Wait, this is the guy?" Jimin muttered, recalling his mother's casual announcement that someone was coming over the next day to discuss a marriage proposal.

His fingers hovered over his screen. Why was this Jungkook following him now? With a sly grin, he decided to skip the formalities. Instead of accepting the request, he went straight to the message icon and typed:

"Are you coming tomorrow regarding asking my hand for marriage?"

A reply came almost instantly.

"Yes, why?"

Jimin smirked. His fingers danced across the keyboard as he replied:

"If you bring a proposal home, then I will break your legs."

Jungkook stared at the message on his screen, his lips curling into a smirk. He didn’t know what he was expecting, but this fiery response was definitely not it. Intrigued, he chuckled softly and leaned back in his chair.

"I guess I’ll take my chances," he typed back.

The next day, Jimin sat cross-legged on the couch in his family’s living room, wearing a loose sweater and joggers, purposely casual. His family bustled around in excitement, preparing for Jungkook’s visit.

When the doorbell rang, Jimin’s heart skipped a beat. He feigned indifference, though, staying glued to his phone as his father opened the door.

Jungkook stepped in, dressed in a sharp black suit that contrasted with his tattoos peeking out from under his cufflinks. His confident gaze scanned the room until it landed on Jimin, who was busy pretending not to care.

“Ah, you must be Jungkook,” Jimin’s mother greeted warmly.

Jungkook bowed politely. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for having me.”

Jimin finally looked up, their eyes meeting. He expected Jungkook to be shy or nervous, but instead, the man smirked, his confidence radiating through the room.

“So,” Jimin drawled, standing up and crossing his arms. “You still brought a proposal, huh?”

Jungkook tilted his head, his smirk deepening. “And you still haven’t broken my legs. Should I be worried?”

Jimin’s family gasped at the bold exchange, but Jungkook’s calm demeanor diffused the tension. Jimin, on the other hand, felt a strange mixture of annoyance and admiration.

“Maybe later,” Jimin muttered, walking past Jungkook to grab a drink.

---

Over the next hour, Jungkook charmed everyone with his politeness and humor. Jimin watched silently, his sharp eyes catching every little detail—how Jungkook laughed easily, how he adjusted his tie nervously when someone brought up his art, and how he occasionally glanced at Jimin with a playful glint in his eyes.

Finally, Jungkook addressed Jimin directly. “Can we talk? Alone?”

Jimin raised an eyebrow but nodded, leading him to the backyard.

Once outside, Jungkook leaned casually against the railing. “So, what’s the real reason you don’t want this proposal? You barely know me.”

Jimin hesitated. “Exactly. I don’t know you. Marriage isn’t some joke. I don’t want to wake up one day next to a stranger and regret my life choices.”

Jungkook’s smirk softened into a genuine smile. “Fair enough. But don’t you think it’s worth giving someone a chance? I’m not saying we have to rush into anything. We can get to know each other first.”

Jimin bit his lip, caught off guard by Jungkook’s sincerity. “You’re… different from what I expected.”

“Is that a good thing or a bad thing?” Jungkook teased.

“Undecided,” Jimin replied, though a small smile tugged at his lips.

---

Over the following weeks, Jungkook and Jimin spent more time together, often bickering playfully but gradually growing closer. Jungkook admired Jimin’s wit and fiery personality, while Jimin found himself drawn to Jungkook’s mix of confidence and warmth.

One evening, as they walked through a park, Jungkook suddenly stopped.

“Jimin,” he began, his tone unusually serious. “I know we started this on rocky ground, but… I really like you. And I want to make this work—not because of our families, but because I see something special in you.”

Jimin’s cheeks flushed, and he looked away, trying to hide his smile. “You’re such a sap.”

“Is that a yes?” Jungkook pressed, stepping closer.

Jimin rolled his eyes but nodded. “Fine. But if you mess this up, I will break your legs.”

Jungkook laughed, pulling Jimin into a tight hug. “Deal.”

---

Months later, the two stood side by side at the altar, surrounded by their friends and family. As Jungkook slid the ring onto Jimin’s finger, he leaned in and whispered, “So, do I still have to worry about my legs?”

Jimin grinned, his eyes sparkling. “Only if you stop making me this happy.”

With laughter and cheers filling the room, their story came full circle—a tale of broken threats and unbreakable love.
