Tempted by her Daddies: Chapter 46
Tempted by her Daddies (Harem of Daddies Book 6)
Alexei stared at his girl from across the table. Heâd deliberately sat across from her rather than next to her like Salem and Roman.
Because this way he could study her more closely.
There was something going on with her.
Sure, maybe sheâd been joking when she told Erica she would fight her to the death.
But there was the way sheâd knocked away Salemâs hand.
She had some sort of training; he was certain of it.
He was also pretty sure that she was hiding things from them. It was in the way she sometimes spoke, sheâd hesitate or backtrack. And he was certain that heâd caught a glimpse of guilt on her face sometimes.
He could be wrong.
But he didnât think he was.
Which meant she sometimes lied to them.
And that was something he should be mad about.
So why wasnât he?
He wasnât completely sure. This wasnât like him. He hated lies and subterfuge. If heâd figured out that she was lying when he first met her, then he would have thrown her to the curb.
So what had changed?
Why did he now not care?
He still hated lies. But he also knew that no matter what she was hiding . . . she would still be his.
Whether she liked it or not.
Salem and Roman wouldnât agree. They would tell him that a person had a choice. They had to consent.
Alexei was different.
Heâd always been different. Heâd never claimed anyone as his before because he knew this about himself. Growing up, heâd never had anything of his own.
In the orphanage, heâd had to share everything. Which is why it was surprising that he could share Tamsyn.
But he shared her with two men that also belonged to him.
And once you belonged to him, he didnât let you go.
The people he claimed were his.
So it didnât really matter whether she lied about who she was or what she could do . . . sheâd still be his.
However he would need to figure out why she was keeping something about her past from them.
Salem and Roman filled her plate up with food.
Hmm. It didnât seem enough to him.
âGive her more protein,â he said to Roman. âShe gets hungry in the night if she doesnât eat any protein.â
Roman nodded and grabbed a plate of chicken.
âI donât need anymore,â she said, placing a hand over her plate. âIâve already got more than I can possibly eat.â
âYou donât have enough green vegetables,â Roman countered. âSalem? Can you grab the bowl of greens?â
âYes, certainly.â Salem grasped hold of the bowl and spooned some vegetables onto her plate.
She sighed and stared at Alexei, her face clearly pleading for help.
He just grinned at her.
Then she shocked him by flipping him the bird.
Sara gasped. Salemâs mouth dropped open in pure shock while Roman just appeared confused.
Alexei threw back his head and laughed uproariously.
âUh, Tamsyn, thatâs not . . . I mean . . .â
Alexei could tell Salem wanted to scold her. But she wasnât in Little headspace. And he couldnât scold her like he wanted to in front of his parents.
He leaned in and whispered something to her that made her face grow red then pale.
âOh, but he did it so I thought it was what families did.â She pointed to Con.
âYes, and he shouldnât have done that.â Salem glared at Con.
âSomeoneâs getting a spanking,â David sang.
âI am?â Tamsyn replied.
More shock.
Alexei couldnât help but laugh again as Salem ran his hand down his face. Roman shot him a look and he attempted another cough instead.
âUm, I was talking about Con getting a spanking from Salem,â David said. âIt was a joke.â
âOh. I donât think I get it. Sorry.â
âNo need to be sorry, baby,â Salem said, glaring at David. âIâm not sure that anyone found it that funny.â
âRight.â Tamsyn looked a bit miserable as she pushed the food around on her plate.
âTamsyn, how did you meet these three?â Salemâs dad asked.
She glanced up with a small smile and Alexei felt a punch of relief as she started talking about how she met Roman. He tuned her out as he watched her until he noticed Salem jumping to his feet.
âI donât think we need to talk about this,â he said hastily.
âOh, but I was just going to say how we met at aâ ââ
âWould anyone like another drink?â Salem said.
Alexei grinned. âDonât you want your family to know where you met Tamsyn?â
Salem shot him an evil look.
âOh. Are you ashamed?â she asked. âWhy would you be?â
Salem sighed. âIt just isnât something you tell your parents.â
âAhh, it was at one of those clubs you like to go to,â Salemâs mum said.
Salem sat with a shocked look on his face. âYou know?â
âOf course we do, son,â his father said. âYou might be pretty good at keeping secrets, but your brothers arenât.â
Salem gave his brothers a dirty look. âYou assholes.â
âSalem, language!â his mother said. âSo thatâs where you met?â
âUh.â Tamsyn gave Salem a wary look.
âYes,â he said. âThatâs where we met.â
âWow. Itâs like it was meant to be,â Charlene said. âSo romantic. You fell over and Roman helped you. Then you met Salem at a club soon after. And what about Alexei?â
âI didnât meet him until the agency I work for sent me to work for them.â
Erica shook her head. âDefinitely meant to be. Are you coming to the wedding with these guys?â
Tamsyn gave her a strange look. âWedding? Oh, Alinaâs wedding?â
âYes,â Erica said. âShit. Sorry if I got ahead of myself. I forgot that youâve only been together a short while.â
âItâs fine,â Salem told her. âI was going to ask Tamsyn, but I hadnât had a chance to, yet.â
Erica winced again.
Theyâd talked about inviting her to the wedding but hadnât wanted to ask her too early in case she freaked out like she had over coming to Sunday dinner.
âItâs in eight weeksâ time,â Salem told her. âAnd we would really love if you would come. But I understand if you need time to think about it as itâs in Escana.â
âCanât believe sheâs getting married there,â Salemâs mother said sourly.
âThat is where she lives, Mum,â Salem said quietly.
âShe should get married here so we can all go. This was her home first.â
âYou can go, Mum,â Salem told her. âYou still have time to update your passport.â
His mum looked slightly ill.
âWeâre definitely going!â Charlene said. âThe princes even offered to send their private plane for us.â
âPrivate plane? Wow,â Tamsyn said.
âMum, you need to go,â Salem urged. âWhat is the problem?â
âIt will cost a lot of money,â his mother said.
âThe flights and accommodation are free,â Salem pointed out.
âI just do not want to go.â His mum got up and left the table and his father sighed.
âSorry, Dad,â Salem said.
The older man shook his head. âIt is not your fault. She just feels nervous about leaving the country. But we will be there. My only daughter is not getting married without me.â
