(Athena's POV)
It has been 48hours since Lucius left. Sometime during yesterday morning we heard from our men, that Lucius found and saved his mate. Our spies who keep an eye on Lucius' mansion ensured us that he came to the mansion with a woman. My anxious nerves calmed only after hearing that. But Victor is no where near to being relaxed. He hasn't slept for more than a few minutes at a time. He didn't leave me out of his sight, for the last two days. Even if I had to use the bathroom, he stood outside the door and kept speaking with me to ensure I was safe. Honestly it is kind of annoying.
I understand he is worried about my safety. But we are in a highly protected pack house. In the Alpha floor. Plus, there is this shield we specially made against Lucius. We can't live like this forever.
It is six in the morning, and Victor is wide awake and I am lying beside him drawing circles on his hands.
"You should get some sleep Victor" I tell him.
"I slept... You go back to sleep love"
"Victor, we can't live in fear our entire lives. Lucius found his mate. He won't try anything stupid. You already almost killed him once, remember? I am sure he will remember. You can protect me no matter what. We have excellent warriors, special shields on the borders that we tested against him. We are in the Alpha floor, with added security. You are beside me all the time. Don't worry Victor. It hurts to see you like this."
He sighs, "Athena I am well aware about all of this. But I cannot seem to stop worrying. What if he doesn't become a sane person? That is the one thing that keeps bugging me."
"That, only time will tell Victor, but trust me when I tell you that he will not be crazy anymore. His eyes weren't red when he married his mate in my premonition. So far, everything in my premonitions have proven to be true, except for a few additions here and there. But nothing has missed. They even reported the avalanche on the news, the afternoon that Lucius left. Thankfully there were no casualties. It is only a matter of time, before he gets married. I don't think he will bother us again."
"Okay" he sighs again
I hug Victor tightly, and place my head on his chest, "I am not feeling sleepy, but you will sleep now at least for an hour. I will stay in your arms and stay awake. That way, if something goes wrong, I will wake you up immediately and you can be my knight in shining armor and save me."
"Athena, you don't have to do that..." he drags
"No Victor. Sleep or you will get the silent treatment. I really mean it."
"Okay love! No need to get angry." Victor chuckles
"What's so funny?" I ask
"You are adorable when you get angry." He tells me.
"Victor!" I warn him.
"Okay okay sleepy time." He hugs me tighter and closes his eyes. He falls asleep instantly. Meanwhile I think about how everything has finally turned out to be good. I definitely wouldn't have believed anyone if they told me my life would go on a rollercoaster ride such as this, with in such a short time. There is so much that could have happened in a different way, like Betty being alive. I guess I will carry that pain in my heart, my entire life. But we can't live in the past and I really hope that Betty and Max are reborn somewhere else and get a second chance like Lucius and his mate.
It has been 3 hours and Victor is still sleeping â like a baby â may I add. His grip on me never wavers.
I hear the bell on our floor ringing and Victor immediately sits up, alert and swings me behind his back making me squeal.
"Victor! It's the door-bell"
Victor opens the door after checking the camera, it was Z.
"Alpha, Lucius is waiting outside our pack border with a woman, we think its his mate. He insists on seeing you â BOTH" Z tells.
"Okay let's go" I tell and Victor growls.
"You aren't going anywhere." He tells me.
"You are going... aren't you? I am tagging with you whether you like it or not." I tell him.
"Athena" Victor groans
"No Victor, you can keep me safe. You need to trust yourself more... Come on let's go" I start pulling him
"Wait! we need to change, Z you go... We will join shortly" he tells Z.
We change our night dresses and put on something presentable and start walking towards the pack border, where all our warriors are lined up, along with Z, and both our dads.
I see Lucius and his mate on the other side of the shield. Once we reach near the border, Z tells us that Lucius' mate is a human, so she too won't be able to get through the shield. A former vampire reborn as a human. Wow!
"Victor and Athena" Lucius greets us with a warm smile. There was nothing evil about it. And his eyes were no longer red. He has indeed found both his mate and his sanity.
"Lucius" Victor greets grimly.
"This is my mate Carpathia, she is a human." Lucius introduces and I wave a hi to her. She smiles back shyly.
"I thought of coming here straight, after finding her, to thank you both for giving me a chance and to prove that I am not a crazy man anymore. But since she was human, I had a lot of explaining to do to her. Which is why I didn't come yesterday." Lucius says awkwardly scratching the back of his head. His mannerisms have entirely changed. He is lethal â sure. But not crazy anymore.
"We are glad you found her" I tell him.
"Thank you! Athena. I owe you so much. You really gave me my life back to me. A chance to live again. I know I have caused you both a lot of trouble. I am sorry. I don't expect you to forgive me, but I want you to know that I will be grateful to you and your pack forever. I know you guys are powerful and rich, but if you need anything at all, please do give me a call, I am an influential man and am willing to show my gratitude in any way I can. I won't bother you anymore. I will send you both, mine and Carpathia's wedding invitation soon. Thank you again!" Lucius tells us and leaves with his mate immediately.
Victor's dad tells my dad "Lucius really did get back his sanity." And my dad nods and they walk back to the packhouse.
"See! I told you everything will be alright. Now you don't have to worry anymore." I tell cheerfully as we get to the porch of the packhouse.
"Yes love... I was worried, yes. But I am glad I trusted your judgement." Victor tells me.
He leans in for a kiss and I close the distance and get lost in him for a good minute, when we hear someone clearing their throat, and Victor growls as we break the kiss to see who it was.
And behold, it was our entire family. Both our parents and Z. I blush hard, embarrassed that I kissed him in front of them.
Victor's mom breaks the silence "From what we see you are more than ready to be Luna. So, when shall we conduct the Luna ceremony?"
Both me and Victor groan after hearing this,
"Mom give us a break. We just finished with one BIG situation." he tells exhausted and they all chuckle and look at me.
"I want to be Luna Yes! But we also need some relaxing time before having a ceremony. I definitely need a vacation and have some movie marathons with popcorn, tubs of ice-cream and just chill. So maybe we can decide when to conduct the Luna ceremony, after a week or two... That way I can relax, have fun and then start planning for the ceremony in peace... please..." I pout.
"Anything you want Athena... By the way welcome to our family" Victor's mom pulls me for a hug.
After sometime, Victor steals me from them and we go upstairs for some quality time.
"I love you Victor" I tell him once we get inside our place.
He rests his forehead over mine and whispers "I love you more Athena. More than my life, more than anything, more than I ever thought was possible..."
