CHAPTER 8- MEHENDI~ Ayesha💕
Met by Destiny
A Y E S H A :-
MEHENDI DAY
Time really passes quickly, it's been weeks, and days has passed me sleeping through it, and only coming down to eat, then back at my room crying in prostration, pouring my heart to my creator, and not sleeping all night.
Today was finally my mehendi day and today finally I would be able to see my mehendi dress, which for some excited reason my sweet mother in law was really excited about, guess she is really happy about her son's wedding. I tried my best these days not to sound broken, I have to deal with this. For myself and my sanity. I tried telling myself everyday that, this is happening, my life. It was meant to be.
It was meant to be.
My all friends were here for my wedding sakina, safa and sania they all are going to stay here till my wedding, they really are a ray- no whole sunshine of my dull world. They are the only reason why I am smiling from these past days. Forgetting everything they all made their sole mission to cheer me up.
Apart from having no clue on how to feel on wedding, I dont know but I am feeling very nervous right now.
My bedroom door slammed open, and I knew Sakina has arrived. Turning from my dresser chair, I greeted them. The lights and decorations from the lawn for today's function, glimmering in my room, as my bedroom window faces the lawn, Seeing the blue red and golden lights reflecting in my room, safa twirled dreamily before beaming her bright smile.
"Hey, my beautiful bride to be!" Safa cheered.
"Hey my sunshine. Wait where is sania?"
I ask as safa settle her dress bag on my bed, and Sakina does the same.
"She will be coming with affan."
Sakina replied and eyed me suspiciously.
"Huh I just remembered! Sakina I was supposed to call Dorok and tell him I reached and I totally forgot that. You take Ayesha's clothes out while I just make a call real quick kay?" Safa gasps and Sakina nods analysing me, I knew she wanted to ask me something I could see her in her eyes.
"Okay? I will be right back!" Safa says waving her phone and leaving my room.
Sakina sat on my bed infront of me and patted the spot beside her. Getting up I sat beside her and she threw her arms around me engulfing me in a big hug, winding my arms around her, I hugged her back. I knew what she was doing she knew what was happening with me, she was comforting me, we had this thing Although everyone knew something was in me, sakina is the only one who knew that 'something', without my knowledge two tears left my eyes, I sniffled and she immediately broked the hug and looked at me,
"I know you are not happy by this marriage, I know you are not happy as you are showing everyone I can see that in your pinnochio eyes." She wiped my tears.
I chuckle despite my tears, "Pinnochio is known for his nose, not eyes."
She shrug, "Meh. I compare his eyes."
Chuckling I looked down and felt tears gather in my eyes,"Nothing is in my hands, sakina." I whispered.
"Listen. Ayesha You made this decision. And I know you don't make a decision, unless you are so sure of it. So if not anyone, believe in yourself maybe?"
"Don't think that you are betraying danish. A relationship is balanced on both sides. And that stupid ass didn't did treat you like the queen you are. He neglected you, ignored you for months. He doesn't deserves an answer from you. Don't push yourself. You deserve all that happiness. And I hope you will get from this marriage." She says again wiping my tears.
Danish was one of my worries. And Sakina's words really helped me. All of those worries, baba, this marriage, me, me, me, and all me.
"Okay now show me your dress, Lets doll you up. well you don't need to doll up cause you're already a doll!" She said pinching my cheeks.
I chuckled at her expression, wiping my tears, the door to my room opens as safa happily skips inside.
"My bridie, I brought this amazing face pack for you, it said specifically for bridal glow-" she stops looking at me and Sakina.
"Did we just had a crying session? Thank god you both finished without me. Cause one of us had to be happy fool."
We both laughed at her and she just shrugged jumping on my bed and bringing both of us down with her. Sunshine. Literal sunshine.
"Okay after making a call to my brother, sania called too and says she's running a little late, so she will arrive here all dressed and ready with Affan, so we have to get ready without her. So now girls let's get to work, Chop Chop." Safa clapped her hands sitting up.
"Okay, so where is your dress?" Sakina asks.
"It's hanging in my closet. Didn't opened till now. Safa can we roll my hair? And minimal makeup please?" I ask safa.
Safa rolls her mini suitcase and places it on my bed and give me a sweet smile,
"I am the makeup artist. And you are my art. So believe the artist."
Sakina whistles from my closet, and brings the dress bag with her. She hold the bag to her chest, and gives me an impressive look.
"Are you ready to see your dress?" She asks.
"Hell yes!" Safa replied instead of me, Sakina looks at her and say,
"Safa, baby. Ayesha is the bride."
"Oh. I know I am just so excited. Show me the dress. Now. Now." She bounces like squirrel after drinking red bull.
Sakina unzips the dress bag and tosses it aside, revealing the gorgeous shalwar suit, it had shades of green, yellow and a tint of pink, with beautiful gold embroidery on it. Wow. Mina really has a nice taste.
"Lets get started!" Sakina screamed this time.
Safa started doing my makeup, while sakina was doing my hair in loose curls, as instructed by safa, my mom asked if I wanted to have a professional do my makeup, but I denied because, one. It would be really awkward for me if a stranger touches my hair or face, and second, Safa is an amazing makeup pro, I trust her, after tugging pulling and braiding and applying various things on my face which made my skin tickle, and hour or more, I got ready.
I really liked what Safa did on my face, a makeup so catchy yet so subtle, and after Sakina had curled my hair, safa parted my hair and braided at the crown area, and added a few flower accessories, which my mother in law brought me in a box, for my mehendi. safa made me wear my shirt and bottom already, and now after wearing her own outfit, and doing her and Sakina's makeup and hair, she helped me pin my duppatta to my shoulders, symmetrically aesthetic, her words not mine.
I looked myself in the mirror after getting ready, there was a unknown glow to my face, Safa's special foundation I guess, my eyes popping out courtesy of the subtle eyeshadow etched on my eyelids, along with the eyeliner which by some amazing technique, Safa did it with a smokey effect. My skin looked flawless with that subtle blush and my lips were painted in a dark blush pink glossy lipstick. Wow. The makeup Safa did an fabulous job of hiding the feeling of me dying inside.
First time in a month, I felt good. A little happy too.
Soon sania joined us and started gushing how pretty I look, she was looking pretty too she was wearing a long yellow and green frock, while safa opted for a purple gharara with yellow shirt, and sakina was wearing a simple yellow tunic, which had shiny golden border on it's puff sleeves, matching with her white narrow pants.
My friends are so pretty mashallah!
Well now they look like bride's friend, Safa's words not mine. After I got ready mina, My to be sister-in- law, entered my room she's almost three years younger than me, I remember having a great bond with her while we were kids, but as eventually we grew, the distance in our cities, created between us too.
"Assalamualaikum, my to be Bhabhi!" She greets happily, and gasps giving me a twirl, "You look so pretty bhabhi!" She gush's happily.
I blushed a little, unknowingly, at her comment and what she called me.
Unknowingly. Totally. I hate my inner voice.
"Walaikumaslam, Mina. and Thank you. You look pretty too!"
"Aww thank you bhabhi! I must say farhan bhai will be doomed after seeing you!" She claps excitedly.
Seriously? Will he?
I didn't said anything and just smiled, looking down.
After introducing and chatting a little with my friends with mina, mom called us from down informing that they should bring me down, suddenly there was a funny feeling in the pit of my story, am I feeling nervous?
Noticing my expressions sania raises her eyebrows, "Anything wrong, my pretty bride?"
"I feel funny. My stomach feels funny. Am I hungry?" I ask patting my stomach.
She laughs, "Oh my god, Ayesha. It's called butterflies. They happen to appear when you are nervous."
"What are butterflies doing in my stomach? Don't they have any other work?" I ask anxiously watching Mina taking the yellow duppata and explaining something holding it to Safa and Sakina.
"Relax. It's your day, enjoy to the fullest." Sania pats my shoulder and gives a kiss to my cheek.
Safa, sakina, sania and mina took the yellow duppata which was in Mina's hand, and each one of them hold each corners of it and hold it above my head.
I was coming downstairs with these four people around me, holding this damn thing above my head, grabbing the decorated banister, nervously IÂ kept my gaze down as I can feel everyone's eyes on me, and to not any awkward eye contact, I kept my head down only. Reaching at the end of stairs, The camera flashes icked my eyes.
As soon as I came down my mom came forward and hugged me with her glassy eyes, which had so much love in them, then my aunt, aka my mother in law to be, came and hugged me and kissed my forehead and muttered something like,
"Masha'Allah, my Farhan's bride!"
They made me sat on a wooden swing and Aunt Ayeeza, made me wore all floral jewellery and garlands on my wrist, and floral earrings, my baba came and placed his hand on my head and blessed me, that's it no hug no smile no verbally blessing, then murat came and hugged me I felt peace and I swear I saw his eyes glistening, was about to tell him not to cry but he gave me a smile and went in the lawn, where all the men's were seated.
After that, everyone came and applied a little haldi on my face, My friends and mina left no mercy while applying haldi on me.
after everyone was done two girls came started applying mehendi designs on my hands and legs.
While I was busy applying mehendi I saw my friends are out of my sight.
Where they would be?
THIRD PERSON POV :-
As ayesha was busy in her mehendi, sakina went out to get rid of the smell of Henna, she didn't liked Henna's smell, so she went in the lawn to get some fresh air, little alone time would've been great, but she was not alone.
"Hello miss pretty!" Someone whispered right in sakinas ear and she let out a startled yelp.
"You? What the hell." Sakina said as she placed her hand on her rapidly beating heart, below her chest, and glared at the person who scared her.
The person chucked, "Aww you look so cute when you get scared!" Dorok said and was about to pinch sakina cheek but she swatted his hand.
"Ohh so my little fox is angry?" Dorok said as he recoiled his hand, blowing on the burning spot.
"Yes I am and how did you- wait did you just called me a little fox? How dare you!" Sakina pinned him with a glare, while Dorok seemed amused by her expression.
"Yes I called you cause your hair, and your personality reminds me of one." Dorok says grabbing a ginger lock of her.
"No, I am not!" Sakina said crossing her arms, after swatting his hand yet again.
"Oh yes, you are my little fox." Dorok pestered laughing at her.
"Ohh just shut up already!" Sakina stomped her foot.
"No, Can't do my little fox!" Sakina groaned.
Duruk started laughing, and sakina was now way too irritated and angry, an idea came in her mind as she saw bowl of haldi near the stool which was kept there.
Dorok stopped laughing as he felt something cold rubbed against his cheek,
And sakina started laughing now, he was amused by her heart melting laughter, her mocha eyes squinting as she kept laughing at him, but it didn't took time to him to understand that sakina has applied haldi on his handsome face.
My beard. he thought, and thought of a devilish plan.
Sakina doubled laughing noticing his angered expression.
But soon the scowl on dorok's face changed into a smirk as he grabbed Sakina's wrist and tugged her closer, which caused her laugh to seize, and she felt something funny dancing in the pit of her stomach, seeing his handsome face from so close, she could count the little specks of gold in his blue irises, which were simmering with mischief, under the bright LED lamp lit in the lawn.
Her heart started to do a little somersault, as he inched closer to her, the smell of his woodsy cologne filled her, making her dizzy and her mouth water. She clutched the shirt on his shoulder, as she felt his breath on her cheek, hitting her shoulder,
Dorok was clearly lost, in her delicious flowery scent, which wanted to make him hide her from the world, and keep in his arms forever. Remembering his plan, he inches close to her cheek, and grazes his cheek to her, the way she clutched his shoulders, made him think some thoughts, some of them being inappropriate.
Feeling her heart hammering in her chest, Sakina thought she was going to stop completely breathing as his rough subtle cheek grazed hers, a million butterflies dancing in her stomach, almost making her dizzy.
Dorok's fingers danced on the tips of her hair, which were teasing her milky skin near her collar bone, he was about to wrap his arm around her waist, but his and her's eyes snapped open as the faint sound of people's laughter was heard, as if coming down from their own little world, they heard the faint music coming inside from the house clearly.
Sakina's eyes widened, realising their position, and her thoughts, she pushed Dorok away, his face coated with disappointment as he staggered back and cursed under his breath, looking at the group of people, who just entered the lawn, Sakina's cheeks blushed crimson, thinking what if they saw them together.
Seeing her beautiful face all red, his heart did some weird things, her wild fiery hair complimenting her equally fiery face, the yellow top making her skin glow, but as his gaze landed on her cheek, Dorok couldn't stop the laugh tumbling out of him.
Sakina felt a little embarrassed and confused watching him laugh, pointing at his cheek, where they was haldi, but now it was all smeared unevenly, instinctively she reached for her cheek, and her eyes widened feeling the sticky haldi on her cheeks.
Feeling, flustered, embarrassed, and disappointed and a little hurt, she understood his motive, and shoved him aside and stomped inside the house not before sticking her tongue out to Dorok.
"Cute." Dorok muttered, watching the fiery redhead stomping her way inside the house.
My little fox.
********************************
Safa was going to wash her haldi hands, when she suddenly bumped into something or someone and before she could fall two arms hold her by her arms and her hands went to that person chest to balance.
She looked up to see who it was and was shocked to see it was murat, her first crush, her bestie's brother, who was holding her, a set of worried olive green eyes were looking at her,
"Are you okay?" Murat asked.
Dang! His jawline. Full on 45 degree.
"Huh? What who? Oh yeah obviously me yeah, um thank you I am good!" Safa spurts out.
"Sure?" He confirms, And she nods a little too eagerly.
And realisation dawned her at thier position, he was holding her by her arms and her hands were on his chest, in a house full of desi aunties, who loves gossiping, but luckily here only few children were playing minding their own business.
She quickly freed herself from his warm embrace and regained her position, Murat awkwardly cleared his throat.
"I am sorry." Both said at the same time.
"No I am sorry." Again both said together.
They both chuckled as the previous awarkedness was getting cleared.
"Sorry." this time safa said first.
"Its okay, actually it wad my fault too, so.." Murat trails off.
"But your shirt." Safa gasps , pointing towards his kurta which now has imprint of safa haldi hands on it near his chest.
"Ah, no worries, it's absolutely fine." He said in cool tone, trying to maintain his composure.
"Huh you are not mad at me for spoiling your shirt?" Safa asks innocently.
"No no its okay it was not your fault!" He said and waved his hand dismissing.
"Oh? It wasn't? Okay and sorry again." Safa was about to cross him and go when suddenly mrat grabbed her hand and took the remaining haldi on his finger and applied on her cheek and whispered,
"I can never be mad at you." He said and left her hand and went from there leaving behind a flushed safa,
"What did just happen." Safa whispers to herself. Shrieking excitedly from inside.
A small boy tugged at her dress and safa looked at him tilting her head,
"Was dat your husband and you his wife?" The kid asks looking at safa.
Flustered safa looks around and let out and yelp laugh and whisper to him,
"Maybe."
She hide her face in her hand due to shyness, and the kid lookes at her confused and rans away, resuming his play.
Biting her lips, she goes to washroom to clean her hands and when she glanced at herself in the mirror she smiled and blushed but didn't washed her face the spot where he touched.
Muraaattt she thinks excitedly, planning their own happy love story in her mind.
She thought and went to the living room to ayesha.
**********************************
Sania was busy watching her hand where the girls where appling mehendi design on her hands.
Her phone pinged indicating a message she opened her phone with other hand and saw a text from Affan,
Write my name on your hand - Affan
No I will not- Sania
You have to cause if you don't then i will come there and hold your hand infront of everyone and write my name with my own hands- Affan
Okay okay I am doing it - Sania
Sania chuckled and told the girl to write the initial A the girl gave her a knowing look but nonetheless wrote it.
Meanwhile sakina and safa came near ayesha whose mehendi was done in her hands but the girls were now applying it to her legs now safa and sakina sat beside her, and safa asked one of the girls who were applying mehendi, and started applying in her hands, while sakina asked to apply a small design on her palm just for Ayesha.
Ayesha noticed that both of her friends were in deep thoughts, and she didn't fail to notice the faint haldi spot, on both of thier faces she gave both a knowing look, and laughed she could ask them later, but right she enjoyed how her friends and family made her evening special.
A ghost smile crossed Ayesha's face noticing the happiness and love buzzing around.
*************************************
Leaning back on his leather chair, Farhan sighed tiredly seeing the new arrangement of home office in his new house, which his parent's made him buy it for his marriage.
His business in Ankara City, has been spreading tremendously sparking every firm, agency and companies interest to invest, Ankara was never his permanent home, nowhere is his home, he used to think, Istanbul was, but that didn't last, hell, people doesn't last, and so does home dreams and ambitions doesn't last too.
Shaking his head from his dark thoughts, He stood up from his chair, and entered the living where the new furniture was delivered just a few hours ago, his mom is really excited about him getting married, and settling down, within the last month his mom and his sister had planned the interior, the colour, the furniture of his house, from the piece of cutlery to the colour of curtains of all of bedrooms has been planned by the ladies of his house along with his father's opinions here and there.
Having nothing to do he arranged the furniture properly and plopped down on the sofa which still had the plastic around it, he has the whole house to himself, his parents and his sister went to his own mehendi function, but without him. He didn't understood what kind of wisdom is from not going to his own function of his own wedding.
Whatever. It's not like he wanted to be there or something, In fact, it's good he isn't there among hundreds of unknown people who asks if we remember them, or the aunties who always pinched the hell out of his cheeks, what he needs is food, and he had it.
Picking up his chow mein bowl, which he ordered fifteen minutes ago, he started gobbling them down, watching football match on his phone, because the TV hadn't been installed yet.
His phone pinged, indicating a message from his sister, Mina. Sighing he placed plate of dumplings back on the table, and opened his sister's message.
She send him a photo, with an emoji of wink and the closed eye monkey. When the picture loaded fully, his phone almost slipped from his hand, the beautiful woman's face which was full of glow, radiated with hues of green, yellow, and pink, the flowers on her head and designs on her hand making her appear no less like an angel.
He closed his mouth shut at mina's new message,
Say Hello to, soon- to- be- Mrs. Siddque. - Mina.
Mrs. Siddque. He tossed his phone on the sofa, his bride, his to be wife, his to be restrictions of everything. His life, his lifestyle, his coping way of life, which he isn't ready to share.
His mom's blackmailing lead him to an yes to this alliance, he didn't wanted to get married, settling down with someone was and will never be his plan. Nor that he had someone special in his life. Getting married was like getting chained to someone for entire life. His life couldn't be shared, he is a lone wolf.
But most of all he was scared of the things which combined the marriage, most importantly- Love. One thing he wasn't capable of.
Taking his phone, he opened Mina's contact to message her, not to send anyone's pictures like that, he isn't interested to see.
But when he opened her contact his thumb stopped over the keyboard, Mina's last message of mrs. Siddque still there, he opened the image again, and zoomed at the girl's face, her face wearing an hope of life and love which could never give, and doesn't plan on anything with her, before he could think anything else irrelevant, he closed the image, and being shortened on words he just typed out a response to mina, and resumed watching football match on his phone.
Shut up- Farhan.
