CHAPTER 12- FIRST DAY~ Ayesha 💕
Met by Destiny
A Y E S H A :-
The sound of a door closing shut made me wake up from my sleep, my eyes feel carrying the weight of an entire ocean.
Rubbing my eyes I squinted one eye open, that must've been Murat, taking my charger in the middle of night.
My back protested in pain as I sat up on my bed...wait I am on a couch..?
I looked around the room and realisation dawned on me, I got married, this is my...husband's room, and I cried myself to sleep.
Getting on my knees on the couch I peeked outside the window, which is settled beside the couch, it was still dark outside and a car drove away from the gate, was it him?
Turning around I saw the time on the wall clock, it was three in morning, I think it's a little too early for morning jog. Then where did he go?
Hm? Flopping down on the couch I thought of the places where a man can go at this hour. Gym? Nah still too early.
Trekking? Eh I don't think so? Did he went to receive someone from airport? But the wedding was yesterday and every foreign guest from both the families are already here. Then did he-
My eyes widened, no what if he went to- He can't go know he is married, but he also said he had nothing to do with me, and with that thinking what if he went to-
My frantic eyes caught the sight of a photo frame on the nightstand, It was him and mina, mina being a sunshine she is smiling brightly, whereas he is just standing beside her like a slab of rock. My previous doubt vanished away, Nah he is good.
I shouldn't care where he is or what he does at three in morning, I removed my
comforter aside- wait did I brought this with me last night? I don't even remember, maybe I did.
Staring at the empty room, my eyes darted to the lone bed which was calling my name, summoning me. Getting up from the couch I tip toed around the room and settled on the bed, the left side was undid, so I laid down on the right side, and as soon as my back met the mattress, I melted like a butter in pan, right into it. Letting out a content sigh I drifted off to sleep.
I was having quite literally the best sleep of my life when my eyes snapped open at the sound of Azaan, rubbing my eyes I squinted to see the time which said it was being nearly five in morning,
I got up from the bed as the sound of azaan melted out of the room, getting my abulation done, I grabbed a prayer mat from the dresser's drawer and started praying my salah.
Finishing my salah, I raised my hands and prayed for everything and everyone that matters to me, asked my creator to give me will and power to face any obstacles, cried my heart out to him, said those words which I don't say to anyone, some unsaid words were said through my tears, my tears saying my struggle, asking for forgiveness for my mistakes, asking for the safety of my loved ones and everyone who is struggling in their own battle.
I raised my palms over my face and wiped my tears, getting up from my place I picked up the prayer mat and folded it placing it on the coffee table, removing my scarf from my head I shook my head so that my hair could fall out of the bun, Feeling the weight of a stare on me, my skin prickled and on instinct I snapped my head to the bedroom door and my stomach dropped noticing Farhan standing there....just staring at me.
As my eyes clashed with his hazel eyes, a weird pricking sensation washed over me, the green in his hazel eyes were telling a story, a story in which I was involved, like a film my brain reels in a image all those years ago when I did the same thing with hair just to be dramatic, a boy, my cousin caught me being dramatic and I got so flustered because I sort of kind of had a crush on him, and then I ran away hoping he didn't caught me tripping on my way.
A cough itched my throat as I remembered he was the boy, with whom I am married now, my cough broke whatever bubble of deja vu we were in and he blinks and closes the door behind him, to calm my coughing fit I reached for the glass of water on the nightstand and drank it all to calm my throat and to also to seem distracted.
Wiping my mouth with my palm, I turned around to find him changed and all, laying down on the bed, the same in which I was sleeping a few hours ago, when he was not here.
Which reminds me and my nosy self couldn't help but ask, "Did you went to the mosque?"
He hesitates but say after solid two seconds, "Yes."
Okay. But again things don't add up.....
"Why did you went to pray at three in morning?"
After another two seconds he answers curtly, "None of your business."
I flinch back, guess I really outdid some boundaries, my mouth can't take a break. ignoring the hurt bouncing I say,
"Right. Sorry."
Glancing at my couch, I didn't wanted to sleep there, So I took my shawl and draped it across my shoulders and slide open the balcony doors and closed it behind me, my bare foot met with the softness of the faux grass mat spread all over the floor of the balcony.
The early morning breeze swifts through the air making the hanging flower pots of the balcony flutter, those are the only flower pots and the rest of the balcony is empty except a rattan swing situated at the corner, taking a seat at the swing I tuck my legs under me, taking a mental note of bringing more plants here, but I am quite impressed that Mr. robot inside could do all this, I mean the dark tones of his room says otherwise from this balcony, maybe he doesn't use this and that's the reason why this place hasn't been daunted by his taste.
Wrapping my shawl tighter around me, I relaxed back in the swing and watched the sun rising dissolving the night and spreading new light over the city, a new day a new hope.
As the city of Ankara was being bathed by a new day's light, my eyes fluttered closed and in no time I drifted off to sleep.
My head fell back and I was abruptly awaken from my sleep, I looked at the sky from the balcony to see that the sun was out and shining brightly, there was hustling sounds coming from the road, the sounds of people walking around, doing chores and opening their shops starting their day.
And here I am, starting my day on a swing.
I slept on a swing? Seriously?
I kept my legs down which became sore as it was folded for a long time, how much time has passed, one hour, two maybe?
I stood up fully and stretched my neck only to hiss as the pain from my left shoulder.
I couldn't feel my shoulder for a minute but after massaging for some time the pain subsides.
Why am I sleeping at different at locations every hour?
I went inside the room and saw the devil sleeping soundly in his bed. Damn him.
I glared at him for a second and saw the time which shows it is five minutes to eight now.
I was about 2 hours in the balcony?
Woah!
I decided to take a shower and start getting ready as it is first day as a new bride and I couldn't sleep now so I went to washroom to shower after folding comforter which was still laying on the couch and placed it neatly on his bed.
I took my clothes for today and went to washroom, Changing my clothes I came after taking a warm shower which helped in relaxing my tired nerves.
I blow dried my hair and kept the setting on the highest speed so the sound of my dryer irritate him in his sleep, Call me sadist but whatever.
Even though my hair was partially dried I still kept my dryer on and saw him stirring in his sleep and keeping the pillow next to him on his ears to avoid the sound.
Why awake now? Mind your business no?
He slowly opened his eyes to look at the source of the sound so I continued to dry my hair.
From the mirror I saw him glaring at me
So I smirked internally and continued to dry my hair.
"Abh har subah kya meri neend aise hi disturb karogi tum?" [ Every morning are going to disturb me like this now?] He asks groggily.
"Hm? Aap disturb hogaye? Sorry mera andaza nahi tha ki aapki aankh khol jayege." [Hm, you got disturbed? Sorry didn't knew you would wake up.] I said turning off my dryer and placing it on the dressing table all while suppressing my smile.
"You did that on purpose didn't you?" He asked me still laying there and glaring at me.
"Why would I do that?" I shrugged trying to act nonchalant.
He was about to say something but was cut off by the knock on the door.
I opened the door to see a smiling aunt ayeeza,
"Assalamualaikum phupho." I said with a smile.
"Walaikumaslam meri jaan! You woke up so early ha? I thought you two would be sleeping till now." She said hugging me.
"Yes actually...I don't have a habit to wake up late so thats why." I said fidgeting my fingers.
My mind drifted off to how I slept last night on couch and morning on the swing, definitely I used to wake up early.
I think I spaced out when Aunt Ayeeza was saying something because I didn't heard anything she said and she was looking at me expectantly.
"Ji?" [Yes?] I asked snapping from my thoughts.
"I asked how did you slept last night? Were you comfortable?" She repeats.
"Ah yes I was."
"Of course you were." A voice behind me said and a second later I felt a presence behind standing near my back.
"Farhan you were sleeping till now?" Aunt ayeeza asked in shock, "Abhi tak neend aarahi hai tumhe?" [ You are still sleepy?]
"Toh raat bhar soya hi kaha ho mai?"
[As if I slept all night.]
Aunt ayeeza was taken aback, "Kiya matlab?" [what do you mean?] Her eyes were wide open as if she didn't expected Farhan to say that.
"I mean your daughter in law didn't let me sleep all night." I suppressed a choke in my throat. WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUT. "Sari raat toh kharate leti rahi ye, neend hi nahi aayi. Aur aapko toh pata hai mera, mujhe shor sharabe mai neend kaha aati hai bhala?" [ She kept snoring all night, and I didn't slept one bit and you of me, I can't sleep with voices] I turned around and gaped at him, he looked down at me, his hairs were all messed up, few strands falling near his eyebrows as he gave me a tired smirk.
"Mai kharate nahi lete." [I don't snore.] I snapped at him.
Aunt ayeeza laughed. "Don't tease her Farhan."
She grabbed my hand, "Don't mind him beta, Anyway I was here to call you both for breakfast. Come down exactly at nine? Okay?" She patted my hand and left.
Closing the door I turned around only to meet thin air and hearing the sound of shower. That sneaky-
Closing my fist in anger I made my way to the dressing table and did my makeup and hair all the while waiting for him to come out and give him a piece of mind.
Twenty five minutes later, while I was seated at the couch all ready, Farhan steps out of the the walk in wardrobe wearing black slacks and a fitted dark maron button up which had first two buttons open. I averted my eyes away and smooth down my pink embroidered shirt.
Walking to the dressing table he frowns at the new items placed over there and glares at me. Haa kya karo mai? Kaha rakho aapni cheeze mai? Aapke sar per?
[yeah where should I keep my stuff at? On your head.] I averted my eyes from him and looked at my shimmery heels.
"Yaha rehna hai toh aapni cheeze samet ke rakho. Mujhe aapni cheeze idhar udhar hoo bardasht nahi. Ainda khayal karna." [ If you are living here, then you have to keep your things accordingly. I don't like my stuff moved here and there. Keep that in mind.]
What is this? an Army mess? I thought dryly nodding my head. "Ji Ainda khayal karogi." [ I would keep that in mind.]
"Where did you went last night?" The question left my mouth before I could think about it. I know for a fact that he didn't really went to a mosque at three in morning.
He stopped his fingers which were working on his cuffs and slowly turned towards me, making me regret my question.
"Let's go Amma must be waiting." He said moving towards the door, completely ignoring me.
I moved towards the door and was expecting him to open it for me but he just opened it and went outside with me left behind.
"Oh sorry, my bad. Ladies first." I said to no one in particular opening the door myself and heading out with him.
Descending down the stairs behind him, I caught the sight of Aunt ayeeza and Uncle Junaid who were arranging the breakfast table.
I went towards uncle junaid who was helping aunt ayeeza in arranging the plates on the table and greeted him,
"Assalamualaikum uncle junaid!" I said with smile.
"Walaikumaslam beta!" He greeted me with keeping his hand on top of my head as a blessing.
"Masha'Allah Masha'Allah look at the new couple ayeeza! Finally someone to give us competition huh?" He said nudging aunt ayeeza who just shook her head smiling at us.
"No way. who could be a competition to you both?"Â Farhan said with a chuckle giving his father a hug, who patted his back lovingly.
"Honestly there is no competition to you both." I said and aunt ayeeza face palmed making me laugh.
"Okay you both sit down, have breakfast and where is mina-"
On cue an exciting sequel was heard, all of us turned to look at an energetic mina climbing down the stairs.
"Oh am geee, Look at you both. So adorable. Masha'Allah, Masha'Allah." She said taking balai of us, "Mama, Baba yours competition is here." She gestured to us clapping her hands.
Everyone laughed at her, while she just shrugged, Aunt Ayeeza ushered everyone to the table and made me and Farhan sit together, Uncle Junaid picked up a plate of fruits and started plating them on my plate.
"Uncle Junaid please sit, why are you doing this, I will do it myself, please." I insisted trying to take the plate away from him.
"Nah-uh, absolutely no. I have waited for this day for years. To have a daughter in law in this house." His voice tuned down a little, I didn't failed to notice the hint of sadness passing through Aunt ayeeza's face.
Mina cleared her throat loudly, "Okay baba jaani we get you got a new daughter and all but don't forget your old peeps please." She said making grabby hands towards the plate of french toast, which Farhan passed her and she served herself happily.
"I don't care, I am serving the new member in our family to the whole." He said filling up my plate with everything on the table, after he was content piling up my plate to the brim, with toast, eggs add fruits he smiled in satisfaction and took his place at the head of the table.
"Thank you Uncle Junaid, Aunt ayeeza." I said as Aunt ayeeza passed me a glass of fresh orange juice.
"Hm? Who?" Aunt ayeeza said taking her seat beside mina.
"Yeah exactly who?" Uncle junaid asks making me frown, "In this house there is no uncle and Junaid and aunt ayeeza."
"Yes, there are only two persons Mama and Baba jaani." Aunt ayeeza says chuckling while I just grinned at them.
"Okay, Thank you Mama and baba jaani." I said again.
"Ah now I hear my name. Your welcome." Baba jaani grinned sipping his tea.
"Eat now." Mama smiled.
Feels weird calling someone else mama and baba other than my own.
"Bhabhi, french toast?" Mina ask lifting up the plate and I shook my head in a 'no'
"No no I am so full already." I smiled at her showing her my still full plate with a toast in my hand, and she just laughed.
"By the way bhabhi how did you liked your gift?" Mina asks wiggling her eyebrows.
"Gift?" I whispered confused.
"I was about to ask, how did you liked your Ayesha, It was Farhan's choice." Aunt ayeeza says glancing at Farhan.
Then it clicked me, the ring. Which I didn't wear it.
"Oh gift, yes I loved it, it was beautiful."
"You didn't wear it?" Farhan asks beside me.
"Um I forgot." I mumble guilty.
"No problem wear it later, you liked it right?" Mama asks.
"Yes absolutely phupho I loved it, it is really pretty."
"So begum, what is today's plan?" Baba jaani asks mama,
"After breakfast, Farhan is going to take Ayesha to her house and then after that the bride has an appointment at parlour at four and we will get ready here and the groom will pick up the bride from the salon and Inshallah by six we all should be present at the reception venue."
"Roger that captain." Mina nodded.
"Is it necessary for me to drop her?" Farhan asks.
Mama, Baba and mina slowly looked up from their plates to give Farhan a glare.
"It is." Mama says smiling nervously looking at me.
"She is your wife, your responsibility." Baba says firmly.
Mina just shook her head grumbling angrily while eating her food and I just sat their awkwardly. I thought he didn't want to tell his family his cryptic behaviour but he is the same everywhere.
"I have already informed the boutique to send your reception dress and jewellery to your house, and be ready by four Farhan will pick you up from your house and he will also pick you from the parlour." Aunt ayeeza says as we stood by front porch waiting for Farhan to bring his car from the garage.
"Phupho um I mean Mama, it's alright if Farhan doesn't want to drop me at parlour he is going to pick me later anyway, I will ask Murat, Farhan has to go completely other way two times-" she cut me off
"No beta don't mind him, thoda mustaqil misaj ka hai woh magar dil ka bura nahi hai mera beta. Aur woh aab biwi ko nahi pick and drop nahi karega toh phir kiska karega? Hm? Zimidari ho aab tum uski, Fikar math karo chod aayega woh tumhe parlour aur raat ke function ke liye aur pick bhi karlega." [ He is a bit resilient in nature but my son has a good heart. And if doesn't pick and drops his wife then who he will? You are his responsibility now. Don't worry he will drop you at the parlour and also pick you up from there for tonight's function.] she gives my cheek a loving pat as Farhan drives his car in front of us.
"Okay then we will meet tonight." She gives me a hug before I climb inside the passenger seat of Farhan's Range Rover.
After ten excruciating silence since we hit the road he asks,
"Do you listen to radio?"
"No."
"Good because I hate it."
"Good for you."
I gave a side eye, "Aap raat ko kaha gaye the?" [Where did you go last night.]
He turns to look at me and then averts his on the road again, "You don't need to interfere in my matters. I was out for an emergency office work."
Bas yahi batane inhe maut padh rahi thi.
[ He was dying saying this before.]
"I was worried, but alright I won't ask the next time." He could dance on the roads at night for all I care.
"Good."
Day one of married life.
