CHAPTER 22- UNEXPECTED VISIT~Ayesha💕
Met by Destiny
A Y E S H A : -
"No, you don't need to..yeah, she is fine." I heard a voice speaking next to me, making me stir my sleep,
"God, how many times should I tell you, you both don't need to come here,"
Let me sleep, I've slept few minutes ago only.
An exhale, "why is it so difficult to convince you people." I was getting irritated now by listening his voice.
After some time I heard nothing and was dozing off again when I heard his voice,
"Fine. Do whatever you both want. It's not like you both are going to get convinced anyways." I heard him again and till this time I can make out this was Farhan, frustrated might I add.
I tried to close my eyes and sleep again, but there was no traces of sleep left, I hate when this happens,
Sighing I decided to lay down a bit more when yesterday's events came clashing down my mind,
The attack in mall. Farhan coming to rescue me. I remember faintly how he carried me in his arms. I can't believe he really carried me and I hugged him for the first time.
That was our first hug. It felt so right, like a correct piece of puzzle fitting together.
I fiddled with the corner of my blanket as I remembered how he promised, he will always come to me. Did he really meant that? There was something in his promise that made me feel secure and assured.
This all are the thoughts I don't want to think in the morning but I can't help.
Sighing I placed my hand on my forehead as I felt a mild headache forming, feeling a bandage beneath my knuckles, I see the bandage from the IV tube. Luckily I got no injuries, except few body aches.
I close my eyes as yesterday's events rush in my mind, that man holding me, knowing Farhan's name-
I snap open my eyes, How can I forget about that man, He was constantly repeating Farhan's name as if he has known him for years. his tone, the way he was looking at me made sure he was not someone who Farhan would be On good terms with.
A shiver ran down my spine as I remembered how he eyed me. Is he is someone who is not to be messed up with. he is probably the person who attacked the mall. I should've told Farhan, I think I should tell him before it's late.
I removed the blanket from me and sat up on my bed and smoothen my hairs with my hands and turned towards Farhan who was standing near the window beside my study table.
"You up already? Great, Actually I-"
I cut him off,
"I want to tell you something-" he cut me off instead,
"You can tell me later but now we have leave, Amma and baba are coming to Ankara." he said typing on his phone
"No you- wait what? Why are they coming is everything alright?" I questioned turning towards him completely,
"They heard about the attack last night, and want to come and check on us personally. I tried a lot to convince them that you are fine, but who am I kidding to?" He sat on the bed and ran a hand in his hair,
"But they don't need to, I will call them and try to convince." I reached for my phone, but stop short when I realise I don't have one, "Pass me your phone please."
He looks down at his phone and exhales, "No need now, they are already on their way to airport."
"What! Already?" My voice stunned.
Damn they are too stubborn.
"You were talking to them?" I ask him shifting back to rest my head on the bed rest, feeling my body wince with every move.
"Yes, which was however a waste of time. Now we have to leave, it's obvious we cannot send them to an empty house."
I nod drifting in my thoughts when I caught the sight of the pillows on the floor, I know I have a lot of pillows, but they suspiciously looked like the ones I made the pillow wall with.
Glancing between us, I noticed the lack of pillows between,
Biting the inside of my cheek, I casually asked Farhan, "How did those pillows reach there?"
He merely glances at the heap of pillows before scoffing, "The one's you threw last night?"
I grin looking at him, "I threw the small ones, not those which were our wall."
He plops his elbow on the pillow turning to me,
"In sleep."
"Huh?"
"In sleep," he chuckles, "When you were asleep, you got so restless in the middle of the night and threw everything off the bed."
I look at him baffled before scoffing, "I did not." I didn't threw them didn't I? "How are you so sure about it? Weren't you asleep too?"
"You know I am a light sleeper." He reasons, "I got awake the moment you grabbed my t-shirt, for a second I thought I was going to join those pillows."
I-I did not did that. True I am heavy sleeper, but I don't do those things.
Right?
"You aren't by any chance, embarrass are you?" Farhan raises an eyebrow, "I mean you shouldn't be, it happens." He says biting the inside of his cheek.
Is he mocking me?
I clear my throat, "No why would I be?" I chuckle nervously getting up from the bed, "Embarrassed for the things I never did? Right?"
"Indeed." He nodded, I bend down and picked up the pillows and dump them on the bed.
I folded my blanket and started arranging my pillows, while I felt his gaze on me all the time,
I catch his eye and looked away immediately picking up the bedspread from the ground, in which he tried to sleep previously, "We are getting late aren't we?" I remind him.
"We are," he nods getting up and picks up the mattress before I could and places it back under the bed.
He dusts his hand after folding his comforter,
"Now if you excuse me," he says picking up his clothes from last night and goes to change as he was wearing one Murat's track pants.
I lay down on my bed and scream on my pillow,
"Damn you pillow," I mumble.
He came out fifteen minutes later and I was still in the bed he raises an eyebrow at me and says,
"Why are you still in bed? We have to leave in like an hour," he told looking at the clock on my desk.
"But I still wanted to stay here." I mumbled fumbling with the ends of my pillow,
I heard him sighing irritatedly
"Listen I know, you want to stay here but I really can't help in this situation, so please try and co-operate with me." He chafed.
"It's not my fault that-" he cuts me off,
"I know, it's not your fault but now that they are coming you have to go with me. I really can't do anything here Ayesha," he rolls his eyes and I suppress the urge to hit him with something.
I sighed in annoyance and walk to my wardrobe and picked out my clothes and went in the washroom to shower, making a mental note for asking my mom to send my remaining things later.
I removed the bandage from my hand and cringed at the spots of blood on it. I threw the bandage and took a good twenty minutes of hot shower, my tired muscles screaming in relief, getting out of the shower I changed into a purple simple embroided kurti set with matching trousers and dried my hair completely.
The wound on my cheekbone was now more prominent, leaving a blue gash right under my eye. I placed the duppata around my shoulders and went downstairs and saw everyone present on the table except baba.
"Morning mama," I kissed her cheek,
She greeted me back and I took a seat beside Farhan and mom served me some breakfast,
"Where is baba?" I ask pouring myself some tea.
"He had a case meeting so he left early," she replied and took a seat beside murat after setting down the fruits platter.
We fell in an easy conversation after talking about yesterday's events and all other conspiracies, drinking my second cup of tea, I decided to tell mom about us leaving.
"Mama actually we had to leave-" she cuts me off waving her hand,
"I know beta Farhan told me." She assures passing me a smile.
"I would have stayed a bit more mama, but it's important." I reason grabbing her hand.
"It's okay Ayesha, I understand, infact I was thinking that I will send the lunch there by Murat, he is free today." mom shrugged and murat stopped eating his toast and looked at mom,
"Me?" He questions, mouth full of toast,
"Yes you." mom confirmed and by the look on murat's face it looked like he wanted to whine and stomp like a child but one glare from mama and he is all silent.
I chuckled at his misery. Mocking him by sticking my tongue out, he did the same.
After having breakfast we both bid our goodbyes, and I told mom I will pick up my remaining stuff later when I visit, and finally made our way to Farhan's car.
"My friends Safa and Sania were appreciating you for saving them and they also conveyed their thanks to you." I told him after a while as he was driving through the main road.
He glanced towards me and looked back at the road nodding his head.
I studied his side profile for a while before asking the question burning in my mind,
"What are you Farhan?" I asked curiously,
If he weren't so trained emotionless, I would've almost missed the slight startle in his posture, if I weren't so observant.
"What does that supposed to mean?" He questions, his tone slightly alarmed.
"The way you saved me, the way you guided me out, it almost looked like you are a FBI agent," I spoke my thoughts looking ahead at the road.
He clears his throat "As I told you before, I tracked your phone location and reached there, in today's technology there is nothing impossible." he explains changing the lanes.
I nodded my head in understanding, fair enough. But why do I feel like I am missing something? I had to ask something, but at the moment I couldn't remember anything.
We stayed in a comfortable silence after that, I would occasionally glance at Farhan or look outside the window until we reached our house.
As we were nearing our house a question popped in my mind,
"Was police not informed about the attack first?" I asked him,
"Clearly not. Why?"
"Were they present when you arrived?" I questioned again,
"No, they came just for media interviews, as if I don't know how they work." He muttered the last part.
"Oh, so there was no mall security too? They allowed you to go inside, just like that?" I baffled,
"They didn't." He says glancing at me.
"What?" I asked confused,
"They didn't allow me , I entered from the back door," he says tapping his fingers on the steering wheel,
I registered his words, leaving me confused and shocked why he did that,
"But why did you do that, Won't you be in trouble for doing that?"
"No." He replies turning into our familiar neighbourhood.
After a few excruciating minutes, we reached our house and I walked inside while Farhan parked his car in the garage.
Walking upstairs to my room, I was quite relieved to find my room the same as I left, nothing is is kept out of order.
Removing my hijab, I started combing my hair, as I didn't after showering and before it could be a tangle mess I had untangle it.
My eyes caught the bluish bruise on my cheekbone which was now starting to sting,
The door to the room opened and Farhan walked in, he caught my eye in the mirror and took a look on my face before asking,
"Anything wrong?"
I look down settling my hairbrush back and shook my head, "Nothing."
I heard footsteps nearing me before I was turned around to face him, Farhan's eyes scanned my face before settling on the bruise,
His hazel eyes harden for a fraction before he brought his fingers to caress it, I wince back on instinct and he steps away, the warmth of his body leaving room for the cold air.
"Is it paining a lot?" He asks,
"No, it's fine. But it looks hideous." I say stepping back, my back hitting the edge of the dresser.
"The doctor said it will fade away, I asked her." He says removing his watch and keeping it in the side drawer of the dresser.
I raise an eyebrow at him, sidestepping I leaned against the dressing table as he moved around the room, "You asked it would fade away why? Didn't liked damaged faced wife?"
He pauses unbuttoning his shirt and turns back to look at me from the wardrobe, "I didn't meant that, I was asking for you."
I walked to the wardrobe door and leaned against it, "Does it bother you?"
"What?" He goes back to unbuttoning his shirt.
"This bruise on my face," I had no idea why on earth did I decided to tease him.
He stopped and turned around taking a look of my face before walking towards me, the lower buttons of his shirt were the only ones buttoned, his chest was peeking through the unbuttoned path of his shirt,
I straightened up as he stopped merely two steps away from me, "Let me answer your question, yes it does." He says taking a step forward, my feet stayed glued to the ground.
"It does because, every time I see it, it reminds me that you were used as a catalyst for something you don't deserve." His says in a low tone.
"What I don't deserve?" I ask, staring in his eyes.
"Some feud in which you were dragged in." He sighs looking away,
"What kind of feud?" I ask, his eyes scan my face for a last time before he looks away, clicking his tongue,
"Don't bother." He replies moving back, I grabbed his arm before he could walk away,
"Why did you came to save me?" I asked the question bothering me, "You could've easily gotten rid of me. Naturally."
He chuckles before turning to me, "Your mind amazes me."
"Amuse me then, why did you?" I prompt holding on his arm,
He shrugs, "Anyone would've done that,"
I scoff, "No, not everyone risks their live for the person they hate."
"Well I did." He says nonchalantly, my grip on his arm loosen,
"Yeah," I laugh airily, "You would've done that for anyone right?"
He nodded, "Yes, I would've done it for anyone, regardless of any relationship." I remove my hand from his arm and step back.
Would you come for anyone? Regardless of anything? Or did I just got it out of the moment?
I nod biting the inside of my lip, "Definitely, right."
"All good?" He raises an eyebrow,
Ignoring the pit forming in my gut, I gave him a curt nod, "Yeah, let me just go down and check on meryem aunty-"
"All the house helps are on leave, they will join tomorrow." He says going inside the wardrobe,
Giving him an okay, I went downstairs away from him to have a peace of my mind.
It did hurt a lot when he said he would've done that for others too. I know I am not special but, way to rub it in.
Distracting myself from intrusive thoughts, I decided to take my stress off in my favourite way, cooking. Seeing that my mom will be bringing in the lunch, my hands moved to the flour,
And the next thing I know, forty minutes later, I am taking out the tray of my freshly baked choco-chip cookies out of the oven.
As I kept the tray to cool down on the counter, the door bell rang and I heard Farhan opening it, before I heard the voices of in-laws,
With a big smile on my face, I walk out of the kitchen excitedly to meet them, who were talking to Farhan, well baba jaan was, and mama had him in an hug,
"Salam, mama and baba." I smile reaching to them,
Mama's immediate attention went on me and the next thing I know, She pushed Farhan aside and I was engulfed in a hug.
"Thank god you are safe! Do you know how worried I was for you?" She wails engulfing me in a hug.
"I am fine mama." My chuckle muffled by her shoulder,
"Thank god, you are okay! Do you know how worried I was, when I called your mom asking for you, only to know that you went missing? " She exclaimed overwhelmed, Tightening her hold on me.
"Uhm, ayeeza, we know you were worried, but let the girl breath." I heard baba jaan's voice,
"Not now junaid- oh sorry," she says breaking from the hug and wiped her tears, her eyes scanning my face, when she looked at my bruise, I immediately caught her wrist and and assured her,
"It's nothing, doesn't pains, and I fell."
She opens her mouth but I beat it to her, "Yes we saw a doctor, I am fine mama."
She chuckles wiping her tears and kisses my forehead.
"Farhan you didn't got hurt, or did you?" She turns to Farhan, who was leaning against the sofa with baba jaan,
Farhan stood straight prepared to lie when I cut him off, "He did, he got a gash on his arm," mama gasps turning to Farhan, "With a large glass,"
I stood beside baba as now we saw Farhan getting scolded by mama,
"My favourite thing to watch," baba whispers,
"I think I am enjoying it too," I snicker giving him a high-five.
"Acts all high and mighty for the world, but becomes a little rat in front of his mother." Baba jaan whispers and I chuckle, Farhan caught my gaze and raises an eyebrow.
Mama shoves his arm and he winces, and now mama gets worried and demands to show his injury.
"Mama relax. People come from airport, they rest, eat, they don't beat their children," Farhan says catching his mom's arm and making her sit on the couch, "Especially when they are adults."
"Especially when they are adults, we are more worried, knowing what kind of menace you could be to society." Baba says taking a seat on the couch,
I go to the kitchen and bring two glasses of water for them when I hear mama saying,
"Junaid, it's better you stop talking, how did you let this happen?" Mama demands,
I make my way back to them and handle baba and mama their glasses,
"Ayeeza darling, you are speaking as if I did that to them, why would I? Spare me please." Baba groaned, taking the glass from me.
"You didn't, but why is there no security for themâ thank you beta, stay blessedâ answer me junaid," mama demands to baba who just groans in his misery.
"Security? Your children aren't any hidden protected jewels mama," Farhan scoffs sitting beside her.
"But you are my jewel," mama says with tears in her eyes, "my precious and only." She hugs Farhan.
I blink back my tears placing the tray on the table, "And now even you are." She says to me and I give her a smile, "You both don't understand what it's being a parent."
"Amma," Farhan sighs softly wrapping his arm around her shoulder,
I sit beside her and rub her arm, she takes ahold of my hand and squeeze it softly and pats Farhan's cheek with her another hand,
"When you will become parents then you will know, what it's like seeing your parts of heart outside you." She says looking at Farhan, her hazel eyes, similar to Farhan, glistening with fear.
It doesn't looks like a new fear, a fear she experienced before.
"Mama, don't cry, please?" I plead rubbing her arm.
"Yes Amma please, you look good only while your scolding me." Farhan says and a chuckle escaped my mouth,
Mama turned to him and glared through her tears,
"You mean I should only scream, and increase my blood pressure? You would like that won't you?" She asks him shoving his arm, non-injured this time.
"No no, I didn't mean that, I.. I just can't look you in pain and tears." Farhan replies wiping his mother's tears away.
Farhan can be everything. Ruthless, cold , demanding, but he is the best son any mother could ask for, and I respect him for that.
"After that incident, whenever I get to know my children got hurt, I can't handle that, I want to see you all safe and infront of my eyes. That's why I always ask you to shift to Istanbul." she says and I frown. she got so scared, and what incident is she talking about?
I was about to ask when baba jaan stood up from his seat and walk towards us,
"Ayeeza, What had to happen, it did. We can't do anything about it, don't hurt yourself by thinking of the past, instead thank Allah that both of them are here, safe. And about shifting, let's not interfere in their lives, it would be their decision to make, not ours." Baba explains and I give him a smile.
"You are right, sorry I just got a bit into the moment." Mama apologises.
"No, mama don't apologise, please." Farhan says kissing the top of her head, mama caress his arm, smiling softly at him.
Mama nodded wiping her tears and kissed Farhan's forehead and patted my cheek lovingly.
"As much as I like you people coming here, I remember you saying that you will be here four hours later, while you just called me at eight in the morning." Farhan raises an eyebrow looking at baba jaan.
I glance at baba jaan and he looked up, thinking of an excuse, which reminded me how Farhan's does the same.
"Um when you called us, we may or may not have boarded the plane at time." he shrugs.
"Incredible," Farhan mutters chuckling.
I couldn't help but get amused. Mina and baba are same. Speaking of which I haven't heard her energetic high pitched voice.
"Where is Mina?" I asked them,
"Her exams are going on so she couldn't make it , so she stayed back in Istanbul." Baba explains removing his glasses and relaxing back on his recliner couch.
"Alone?" I asked concerned.
"No, no she is with her phupho, you think your overprotective mama can leave her all alone?" he whispered the last part to me and I chuckled, mama turned her head towards him, giving him a glare.
"I heard it," she mutters rolling her eyes.
"Oops, my bad." baba gasps mockingly.
I chuckled looking at them, literal goals right here.
Mama turns towards me looking around the house, "Where are all house helps? Julia?" She calls out.
"Um Mama that, actually um...no one is at the house at the moment." I told hesitantly, scared she would be upset that I couldn't handle my house.
"What do you mean by no one is there? Is everyone arriving late? You are too soft with them Ayesha, let them arrive, I will take a nice class of them." she mutters.
"No mama, no one has been coming over." I tried to explain.
"What? Why aren't anyone coming?" She inquired furrowing her eyebrows
I had no clue what to tell her, my brain was literally showing me question marks, how should I tell my mother in law, that her son who made me wait for three hours, left me at my parents house, and I don't even know what was happening here, I didn't had anything to say, I told the first thing which came in my mind.
"Farhan send them away." I blurted out, and felt Farhan's eyes on me.
"What? Farhan why did you that?" Mama now divulged her attention to Farhan and I sighed in relief. Farhan sat there staring at me like we had a complaining competition going on, he retains his composure, but covers his expression nonchalantly.
"It's no big deal, Amma. I just felt a rush in the house all the time, and I had few back to back meetings in the last few days, I wasn't home all the time. And I felt everything was out of order, felt a bit disoriented. I needed some space alone." He shrugs.
I looked down, sighing quietly, mama looked at me, "That's it? Ayesha why were you so hesitant to tell me, I won't judge you. it's your house, you know better how to handle it." she places her hand on my arm encouraging me.
"Um, I just I thought you would mind." I chuckle nervously.
"Nonsense. Why would I? This is your house beta, you can handle as you want, why would I say anything?" She chuckles and I nod,
"Yes, Amma, your daughter in law likes to take the blame on her for everything. Had to say one of the reasons why I made everyone go and stayed alone." Farhan shakes his head.
"Tell clearly you just missed your wife." Baba snickers.
Heat rose to my cheeks as I looked away, mama chuckles patting my shoulder.
"Okay, junaid. Now, that it is sort out, what are we going to do about lunch?" Mama asks,
"Everything is planned mama, mom told me she will bring in today's lunch, don't worry." I say.
"Hira, I tell you, why does she needs to stress herself about it?" Mama shakes her head.
"She won't listen, mama." I chuckle.
"Okay, now that lunch is settled. What about our breakfast? We old people didn't had an ounce of food, travelling from miles." Baba sighs looking down.
I immediately stood up, "I am so sorry, I forgot to ask, I will make something for you guys immediately." I turned around to walk but mama caught my wrist,
"He is joking, my child. We had the meal on the plane."
"That's equivalent to nothing," I reason out.
"No no really, I was kidding Ayesha, stay blessed my child, but if someone has to make breakfast, it should be the one who wanted his space alone," baba turns to Farhan, "Go my child, the kitchen is all yours."
Farhan scoffs before going back to scrolling on his phone, when he heard no one laughing, he slowly peeked up and stared at all of us long and hard.
"Seriously?" He scoffs,
"Baba is right Farhan, the kitchen is yours," mama leans back, making me sit with her,
"Wait a second-" baba cuts Farhan off,
"Make a good breakfast and then meet me in the study." Baba pats his shoulder and walks to his room.
Farhan looks at us helplessly before nodding, "Breakfast it is then,"
"Nothing to do too much, just make some tea and dice few fruits." Mama says getting up and walking away to her room,
"Don't worry, I will make something." I say getting up,
"No need, sit back down." Farhan warns before sauntering over to the Kitchen.
I follow him and stand at the kitchen door, watching him taking out few fruits and milk from the refrigerator,
"Sure?" I ask moving to my cookie tray which I left to cool,
"Absolutely, it's a basic need, I know as much." He says settling a kettle on the stove. "What's that?"
I turn around after placing the cookie in the Tupperware box, "I baked some cookies while I was bored," I take one in my hand and bite it, "You want?" I offer,
He exhales washing the fruits before moving them to the cutting board, "No, I don't like it."
"Your loss," I mutter closing the lid of the box, before keeping it on the kitchen table.
"Call me if you need any help." I say before going out of the kitchen.
"I won't." I heard him scoff.
***
Later that day, when I get into the kitchen I found the box of my baked cookies almost empty.
