CHAPTER 40.2- BEFORE PT. 2

Met by Destiny

22 JUNE, 2011.

POLICE STATION, ISTANBUL, TURKEY*

"I wish I could have even quarter of your brain," babar sighed feign grief as he slumped on the seat across the table,

Fahad chuckled, "Don't think too much."

"Exactly what I do." Babar reply,

"No what I meant was," Fahad closed the case file after signing on it and lean back on his leather chair, "Don't think too much, that your even left over brain fuses out."

Babar gives a dry look at his remark and mock his actions,

"Anyway, about today's mission." Babar let out a whistle, "had to give it to them, they are doing a pretty great job of playing clean."

"Not to clean." Fahad say fixing his gaze on a paper weight, "Even after washing your hands, you leave the foam."

Babar gives him a blank stare, "So what do you want say is watch the foam dissolve completely after washing your hands."

Fahad clicked his fingers, "Yes, you do, if you don't want to leave any clue behind." Noticing babar's left out expression he adds, "Hypothetically, babar."

Realisation dawns on his face, "Oh, you meant a metaphor. I got it, I got it." His smile drops as he looks up at Fahad,

"But what foam did you got?"

Fahad chuckles getting up from his chair,

"A big one, babar a big one."

"Knowing you, you wouldn't stop saying in normal language, so it's waste to ask. So let's discuss about our mission which we are going in five days." Babar mutters opening up a file, he looks behind his shoulder to see Fahad looking out of the glass window of his office, which shows the other employees working in station. His hazel eyes glinting with a faraway look in them.

"Fahad?" He calls out.

Swiftly turning his head he says in a gentle yet determined tone,

"Hmm yes, about that." He walks back to his seat, "We need to make a team babar."

Babar nods thoughtfully, "Okay, let's discuss about this to Chief officer karim, I am sure he will recruit a team for you, and I will be handling the legal procedures obviously-"

Babar stoped talking as he noticed Fahad shaking his head almost thoughtful,

"What? What are you thinking Fahad?" Babar asks curiously,

Fahad looks at him for a moment but then drops what he was about to say, babar eyed him for a few moments and says,

"You-you are not thinking about recruiting your own team, are you?"

Fahad sighs looking at the people working on computers or writing complaints of the cetizens, "It wouldn't be that bad."

"You and me, we both know, we aren't allowed for that, especially for high profile case like this."

Fahad stands up from his chair and grabs the case file along with him, tapping on table with the file he says, "You are right. It was wrong of me to think like that. Now let's go to Chief officer's cabin." He whistles along and exits his cabin,

Babar followed him, with a confusion in his mind that weather he heard double meaning in his comment.

Knocking on the door of officer karim, Fahad entered inside giving him a polite nod, babar followed suit.

"Officer Fahad, Prosecutor Babar please have a seat, I was waiting for you both."

Gesturing to the visitors chairs, officer karim gestured them to sit down, taking his seat, after exchanging pleasantries, Fahad opened the file he prepared and slides it across the table for officer karim to check it,

"From last month, the crimes has relatively increased in Istanbul, but the most common crime, abducting, kidnapping, trafficking and other sickening crimes involving women and children has taken a large toll and if we do not look into it, this city won't be safe anymore," officer karim nodded listening concentrated on Fahad's words.

"And from the reports the victims are those who has no family background, meaning those widowed woman working in factories, and children from orphanage or streets." Fahad continues,

"Which means the person behind it, wants to do his business with people who have zero support, no financial background and completely dependent on government facilities, which means that if he even kills them, no one would report to the police, no complaints, no case, no involvement of laws, no interventions and easy business. So sick." Babar joined the clue and spoke up thoughtfully, Bloody Bastard. He thought angrily.

"And from the complainant of Mrs. Guliz, the owner of a Sewing woman's foundation, located in downtown istanbul, she says that two girls one aged nineteen and other aged twenty three went missing exactly two weeks apart, she had complained about it to a local police station, but no action was taken, and by the time and her effort when she reached us, the other girl got kidnapped." Fahad explained tapping on the report written by the foundation owner.

"All of them are happening exactly two weeks apart. The kidnapper, from what you have collected officer Fahad, named Emir gerdezi, former worker at an oil company is responsible for this." Officer karim stated looking at Fahad,

Fahad opened his mouth to answer, but decided against it and nodded silently.

"Yes, the oil company worker." Who is not truly a worker after all, at least not what Fahad found out.

"Hm, we will see more in this matter, I have to attend an official dinner with the mayor's family this evening, after that we will discuss this case in detail." Officer karim stood up from his chair, babar and Fahad stood up before him, with straight spine, hands behind their backs.

"Of course sir." Babar nodded.

"And," officer karim stopped near the door to his cabin, "I trust your skills officer siddque."

Fahad nodded stiffly, after officer karim left, Babar slumped his shoulders and turned to him, with a confused frown on his face,

"Why did you not-" Fahad cut him off with a cool look, which babar was well accustomed by years.

Nodding they left his cabin, silently packed their belongings from Fahad's cabin and left the station, sitting beside Fahad in his car, Babar turned to him, who in question was driving to some location unknown to Babar.

"I can hear your questions itching in your brain, Babar." Fahad said, focusing his sharp, cool determined gaze on the road ahead, his hazel eyes were twinkling with a gleam, which could be underlined as curiosity, scheming.

"Then answer it, but I also know you will only answer those, which you want too."

"True." Fahad agree, nodding his head.

"Do you need slate to write? Or.." babar raised an eyebrow,

Fahad let out a hearty laugh, "No, no, I don't. I just didn't felt like telling him."

Babar raised his another eyebrow, "You didn't felt like saying officer karim that you went to Emir's base undercover last night, Alone."

"Well, not alone. You were waiting for me outside, weren't you?" Fahad asks cooly whistling and simultaneously tapping his fingers on the steering wheel,

"Oh yes completely, outside of a completely wrong location send by you, purposely may I add."

"Oh?" Fahad nodded mockingly, "By mistake maybe? And you are a prosecutor, your job description doesn't require you to go undercover with police."

"Yes it doesn't, but I think I am a bit silly keeping a gun being a criminal lawyer after all, no issues or whatever me being new to all this you know," Babar shakes his head thoughtfully, "As if that doesn't comes with my job."

Taking a right turn, thoughtfully Fahad ran his fingers across his angular jaw, sparing a shrug to babar "Could be." He nodded.

"Real blow, man."

Fahad chuckled driving his car at the area where the luxurious cars is a rare sight to see, only few wagons and cheap cars were running on those roads. Babar eyed the area and looked back at Fahad,

"And we are going at another secret rendezvous I presume?"

Turning his car at a narrow street, Fahad stopped near an alley, which was a slope, where no less than a wagon could enter.

"You my friend," Fahad took his sunglasses from the dashboard and said, "Are correct."

Climbing out of the car, Babar noticed the houses and how people didn't even gave them a second glance and kept doing their work, keeping in mind their occupation.

Fahad tapped at Babar's flannel shirt with his glasses, and walked ahead wearing them, glancing down at his clothes and then at Fahad's choice of his vehicle, realisation dawned at him.

"You freaking genius of a cunning man." Babar ran behind him, "Telling me to wear a casual attire to work, taking your own car instead of police, not bad."

"This wasn't what I would call cunning." Fahad said walking up at the slope, his long legs walking up determinedly.

"Of course you won't, so what's the call?" Babar asks eyeing the poorly build brick houses, where a woman was drying a blanket on a balcony railing, wearing an apron on a motherly button up dress, a scarf around her forehead and an angry frown that could make any criminal confess his crime, and jail himself, or any police officer to feel guilty of the crime of existing.

She should've been in police we would've been a good team fighting bad guys here and there with frown power. He thought.

The woman looked up at that time and took out a bat started patting the blanket rather.....aggressively, all the while shouting at her husband in turkish, and glaring at babar.

Rather not. Babar thought and ran after Fahad.

"We enquire."

Babar stopped in his tracks, "that's it?"

Fahad looked behind his shoulder, "Yeah, that's...it."

Babar's face dawned at realisation, as a melted chocolate on a hot brownie, "We gonna enquire the foundations, aren't we?" A grin formed on his face, eyes squinting making his brown eyes shimmer from thrill.

"For someone as a prosecutor, you are quite slow." Fahad said walking ahead on the slope.

******************************************

"Officer Siddque, you have violated the rules appointed by your senior, So I, officer Karim Tarun, exile you from your position." Officer Karim stepped forward removing the two stars from Fahad's epaulettes.

He said nothing and just gave a curt nod leaving his office.

Collecting his things from his office, correction, old office, he took his coat and left the station.

6 AUGUST, 2011.

ANKARA, TURKEY.*

"So this is it?" Babar asks looking ahead at the large house in front of him,

Fahad unlocks the door and walks in with Babar behind him, there was no furniture inside, there was still an evident smell of paint and wrappers around the house,

"It still looks new," Babar says looking around in awe,

"Cause it is new. I brought it six months back," Fahad says pushing a table in the middle of the empty hall,

"Wait— you brought it, meaning you actually own this house?" Babar's mouth hung open in shock,

"Yes, Babar I do." Fahad sighs, "I brought it for me and Fanaa to live here after getting married."

"Man, you shouldn't use it then, you brought it for your future family—" he cuts off Babar,

"It's a safe hideout for us, we need it to complete our mission, clearly my boss have demoted me, we have no power, and we need a place to plan, no one could ever think that we are making this our base, for people this is my future home." Fahad says leaning against the table,

Babar shakes his head, "It's a waste to argue with you, but why did you wanted a house here, in Ankara?"

"I am going to shift here after resigning." Fahad replies looking around the house,

"Say what?" Babar chuckles, "How did you read my mind? I was thinking about resigning my job and shift somewhere else?"

"You do?" Fahad raises an eyebrow,

"Absolutely, I do." Babar chuckles patting his shoulder, "Come on now, let's plan and finish this case so we could vacant your future home."

Fahad nodded with a smile, taking out few files from a cardboard box, few of them he stole from his senior's office, and laid them open across the table,

"Alright," Fahad begins rubbing his palms together, "As we are aware, I currently do not have the position to fight a high profile case, we are going to execute our own little team, with of our trusted people and submit the evidence in court through you."

Babar nods, listening to him, "Done. Who all are going to be our people?"

"I will bring a few with me."

"Officer Rizwi seems a good option." Babar points out,

"No, not him. I have a feeling he might try betray us."

Babar's eyes widen, "But he-he is nice, right?

"Too nice for his own good." Fahad replies,

Babar remained silent, listening him,

"I am going to continue working in my station, on the position I am assigned on."

Babar whistles impressively, "So you can make them believe that you kind of are on there side, cool man."

"Exactly, and bring information of course." Fahad says tapping on the cardboard box filled with files,

"So is there going to be a code for our hideout?" Babar asks looking around,

"I was thinking the same, I don't know you tell," Fahad says distractedly, arranging all the files,

"Main house," Babar snaps his fingers, with a large grin on his face, Fahad looked up at him and thought for a while before nodding with a grin,

"Main house it is." Fahad grins.

15 OCTOBER, 2011.

NEW HOPE HOSPITAL, ISTANBUL, TURKEY*

"Hello mama? What was the room number you said Mina was in?" Fahad asks frantically jogging through the rushed hallway of hospital,

"Twenty four, Fahad," his mom replies, and he quickly hung up the call, finding the room, he opens the door and barges in, still in his uniform he walks in the hospital room, where his little sister laid with a plaster around her leg.

"Someone got a fracture." His dad says, who was seated beside Mina, and taps her cheek who had tear streaks on her face and was looking at her plaster in distaste.

"Other than that nothing else, right?" Fahad asks walking beside her bed,

"No, she's fine Alhumdulliah, the doctor will be here to explain in a while." His mom replies who was seated on the couch by the wall,

"How did this happen?" He asks Mina, tapping on her cheeks, "Did little Mina slipped?"

"Yes," Mina replies, new tears forming in her eyes, "I am never going to any picnics."

"Now don't say that, it's alright, soldiers gets hurt once in a while, but they don't cry," Fahad says wiping away the tears from his sister's face, "Remember what I told you?"

Mina thinks for while, her little eyes looking around, "Don't talk to strangers?"

Fahad chuckles, "Other than that?"

Mina's eyes widen as she nods, "Never stop walking after you fall?" Fahad nods, "But that's what I did after falling down and now here I am." She sulks, looking at her plaster covered leg,

"You will understand this once you grow up." Fahad mutters ruffling her hair,

The door opens and Farhan walks in, carrying a bag full of snacks and tosses it at mina, who happily picks it up, taking out an orange juice bottle,

Fahad grabs the bottle from her and breaks the seal, "How did you got this in a hospital?" He passes the bottle to Mina, who sips it happily,

Farhan grins sitting beside his mother on the couch, "Bribed a doctor."

"Like anyone would take a bribe from you," their baba scoffs, making Fahad chuckle,

"Right baba, but she took." Farhan laughs,

"She, huh?" His mom swats his knee,

Fahad turned around when the door opened again, this time when the person walked in, his heart started beating weirdly,

"Fanaa?" Their mom stood up from her seat happily,

"Doctor Fanaa on duty, mother." Farhan shakes his head, "The one I bribed."

Fanaa greeted both the elders and checked on Mina's report before moving towards Mina,

"Hello little Mina." She laughs tapping her nose, "does your leg hurt a lot?"

"No, but I can't feel it." Mina replies, munching her favourite hello panda biscuits.

"It's alright, you will be fine in no time, but for a while you need to rest,"

"So no school?" Mina asks excitedly,

Fanaa chuckles ruffling her hair, "Yes no school, but only for a while."

Fanaa looked up at the person standing on the other side of the bed, her smile falter a bit, she maintained her professional face before saying,

"I've looked at her x-rays, it's an hairline fracture, nothing too major, but she needs to rest for atleast an month." She says looking at Fahad, who nodded listening to her, folding his arms across his chest, which made his broad shoulders more prominent.

Clearing her throat Fanaa turn around to Mina's parents instead of her brother, who made her nervous, "Mina will need another x-ray in another fifteen days, if the progress is well, the plaster would be removed."

"Thank you doctor, I swear you look so familiar." Farhan says, pointing at her face,

"Farhan." Fanaa chuckles softly shaking her head, "I have already prescribed a few medications, in case mina develops a fever because of the pain, other than that, she is good to go, I will ask reception for the discharge papers and send over here,"

"Thank you so much beta, god bless." Baba replies giving her a warm smile.

"Fanaa, when are you free? Have lunch with us? You've been in Istanbul since two months but haven't visited us." Her aunt ayeeza asks grabbing her hand,

"Khala, I promise I will visit you on my off day, but today I have a night shift, so I can't." Fanaa declines, her kind voice full of guilt.

After bidding everyone a goodbye, with an one last glance at the handsome officer, Fanaa left the room,

"What a wonderful day," Farhan sighs standing beside Mina's bed, stealing a few candies from her hand, unnoticed. "From Mina's picnic trip to wonder arena to a beautiful hospital trip with doctor Fanaa. Right bhai?"

Fahad was about to reply, when a word struck in his mind, "Wait, did you said wonder arena?"

"Uhm, the place where Mina went for her school picnic." Farhan replies,

"One of emir's main man was spotted near wonder arena, an amusement park, there is a group of eleven year old girls from a school, a picnic most likely. I will be here to report any suspicious activity...."

The conversation from Babar's phone call from the morning filtered his mind, "And um when did Mina fell?"

"The moment I entered the park, I was standing on the steps to a ride, when someone pushed me down." Mina says, and her mom gave her a kiss on her head.

Fahad did not said anything, his mind reeling in distress, "Who pushed you mina?" He asks carefully,

"I don't know bhai," Mina shrugs, "I think it was one of my classmates, before I could catch that funny man's hand, she made me fall down."

"What man?" Her mom asks,

"There was a joker at the carousel ride, who said he would teach magic tricks to the first person who reaches him, my classmate beat me to it." Mina replies, looking down,

"How many times have your father, brother and I told you to not go near any stranger, why don't you listen mina?" Her mother scolded,

"Ayeeza calm down, she is still a kid. I am sure that man meant no harm, and look at Mina now, let's not talk about it, alright?" Her father says, "Farhan why don't you take out the car, we will bring Mina with us."

Farhan nodded heading towards the door, "Bhai you are coming with us?" When he didn't responded, Farhan looked at his brother, who had a hard look on his face, and his fist clenched. "Bhai?"

Fahad snapped out of his thoughts and shook his head, "No I am going to work."

Farhan nodded leaving the room, after some time Fahad left too, after bidding his parents and sister.

"Hey, Babar? Look for a clown in the footage of that amusement park." Fahad left a voice message for Babar,

While walking towards the hospital reception, he heard someone calling his name, turning around he raised an eyebrow, noticing Fanaa walking towards him,

"Salam." She greets timidly, her hands fumbling in the pockets of her white coat,

"Walaikum as salam." Fahad greets back,

"How are you? Saw you after a long time?" Fanaa asks moving her long bangs towards her left side, a hairstyle she keeps to hide her birthmark.

"Good, how are you? Seeing you after a long time too," he grins, "How's work going?" He asks,

"Hectic." She replies looking away from his mesmerising eyes, they got engaged two years back, and after their engagement they met only handful of times, mostly on eids or unintentional glances through video calls, they both were talking face to face like this for the first time.

"How's yours?" Fanaa asks,

"Also hectic," Fahad nods tiredly, "Um when are you free?"

"Coming Sunday, I will tell khala I will visit her that day." She replies,

"No um I meant, not with family...with me?" Fahad added, raising his hands,

"With you? Fanaa's eyes widen,

"Yeah, a lunch maybe?" Fahad says scratching the back of his neck, "If it's okay with you." He added quickly.

Fanaa chuckles shaking her head, "It's alright... we can go sometime out."

"We can?" Fahad grins and she nods looking down, her cheeks tinted red, "Okay, that's great."

Fanaa nodded biting her lip, "I should get going...Allahafiz."

As she turn around to walk, he called her name, turning around she faced him again,

"I will kind of need your number to contact you." Fahad says showing his phone to her, smacking her forehead, she walks towards him,

"My phone is in locker room," she says, Fahad nods passing her his phone, Fanaa quickly added her number before giving him back his phone,

"I gave a missed call," Fahad says, "So it will be in yours too." Fanaa nodded.

"I should get going," Fahad nodded towards exit,

"Me too." Fanaa nodded,

They both stood there for a while, before chuckling and walking away to their own paths, not before giving each other one last glances.

28 OCTOBER, 2011.

MAIN HOUSE, ANKARA CITY, TURKEY*

"There," Babar says laying out the pictures of a clown on the table, "The clown aka emir's men."

"Emir never gets out of his cave." Fahad mutters distractedly, taking out another file from a cardboard box,

"He is a kind of don of his team, he knows coming out will be a risk." The peon of his office, Alp, who Fahad has brought with on his mission to the main house, speaks. Alp used to write film scripts on serial killers and had a sharp mind of combined ten detectives together.

"We need to do something to take him out of there," The officer working under chief superintendent, Demir, who Fahad knew hated the chief because of how during their training one day, pushed him so bad, that he couldn't walk properly after that, explaining him everything he brought him too. "Sir should I tell this to Rizwi?"

"No." Fahad replies, "He's not really with us."

"Sir is right, I saw him the other day in chief's office at night after everyone left, he got money from him, might as well as be working as a messenger." Alp replies, showing him a picture of Rizwi sneaking out.

"Could we maybe try tracking him?" Babar suggests,

"Too risky, sir." Demir says. "The chief could be two steps forward than us."

"He's right." Fahad agrees, "Better than to track Rizwi why don't we track the big fish itself?"

Alp raises his brows, "You are saying we should lay a trap for Emir to reach us?"

"Me not us." Fahad replies,

"And to put this thing to play if you are going risk yourself?" Babar scoffs.

"I did not meant that, I somehow want Emir to know that he have me as an enemy, this main house is a secret." Fahad explains.

"We can protect you from outside," Demir adds agreeing.

"See that's what I am talking about." Fahad clicks his fingers.

Babar shrugs undefeated, "What the boss says."

"Also Demir," he passes him a small blue colour usb, "Whatever evidence you are getting save in this. I already gave each to Babar and Alp, the final evidence to show in court, we will combine it to one usb."

"Alright, sir."

16 NOVEMBER, 2011.

POLICE STATION, ISTANBUL, TURKEY*

Fahad was clearing up the files late at night from the chief's office, slowly sliding them inside his jacket, after getting the necessary files and dropping the previous ones, he got out of the chief's room, knowing Alp disabled all the cameras for one hour,

He was about to step out, when he heard footsteps approaching near the door, looking around to hide, he hid behind the trophy case, the room was dark which gave him more benefit.

He watched through the crack of the shelf, the chief walked hurriedly, he walked around his table and opened a draw, and to his utter delight deposited a ton of cash inside.

Lovely. Fahad thought.

Locking his drawer, he hurriedly left his office.

Mentally making a note to thank Babar for giving him a small camera on the cap he wore, he jumped off the first floor, and landed on the roof, getting down through the water pipe, he walked silently towards his car, which he parked in an empty alley,

As he started the ignition, that's when he felt it, a cold gun barrier against his neck.

"What do you want?" He asks calmly,

"A little message for you." The voice spoke, "Our boss saw you deeming interest in you. So here's a fair warning. Step away before he does something,"

"Like what?" Fahad looking at the rear view mirror, making sure the camera in his cap recorded the face.

"Like doing something to your fiancée." His fist tightened on the steering wheel unintentionally.

"Your sister got off the hook pretty good, couldn't say much about her, so.." he pressed the barrier harder against his neck, "Back off."

18 NOVEMBER, 2011.

SIDDQUE HOUSE, ISTANBUL, TURKEY*

A very tired Fahad entered his house, removing his coat, he entered the living room to find his parents and brother waiting for him, the television was on with today's news playing on it,

"Oh there he is," Farhan says pointing at him.

"Fahad!" His mom rushed towards him, enveloping him in a hug.

"Where were you the whole day?" His father asks worriedly.

"I am fine." He sighs tiredly. "I was at the police station."

"Care to explain about this?" Farhan moved aside showing him the news playing about him,

"We open the news channel, and find the news of Fahad Siddque breaking in his chief's office and robbing his money, when we were trying to contact you for the whole day."

"Fahad," his father grabs his arm, turning him around, "beta, what happened?"

"Nothing baba," he sat down on the sofa, his head hung low, "That video was edited and fake,"

"Why didn't you gave us a call?" His mom asks worriedly sitting beside him.

"I didn't want you to worry, and Babar was there with me." He replies,

"Of course mom, there are no cell phone allowed inside the jail." Farhan taunts,

"Farhan that's enough." His father warns.

"No baba that's not enough, he needs to understand that there are many other police officers to fight this case, he doesn't needs to do it alone. He is not a hero! He doesn't needs to everything." Farhan snaps.

"Watch your tone Farhan, it's your big brother you are talking about!" His mother scolds him.

"It's alright mama." Fahad says softly getting up, "You're right Farhan, I am not a hero, never wanted to be one. But the job I've chosen for myself demands all the risks and determination, which I am willing to give."

Farhan looks away, his baba places a hand on his shoulder, "We are really proud of what you do my child, trust me, we are. But we also care about you."

"I know baba, and I also know there are few people who are waiting on their justice, if my little move makes a difference, it would be an achievement for me. I am not doing for fame, for money, I want to do it because that's what I took my oath for," Fahad sighs pointing at the tv, "I took it deflect the crimes, not like them who sell themselves to the wrong for money. If with my help, the root crimes decreases even for a one percent, I won't mind it."

"We understand beta, but you also have a life." His mom says, grabbing his arm,

"I know mama, that's why after this case, I am going to resign. I would work as an carpenter rather than to work in a corrupt system. I promise you mama, after the last hearing, I will come to you directly and ask you start preparing for my wedding. I am tired of this life too, trust me. I cannot wait to be not a hero."

Farhan looked away, guilt showing on his face,

"And Farhan," he says walking past him, "Think before you speak, your this habit might be frightful in the future."

***

In the upcoming months of Fahad and his team working non stop on their main house in Ankara and travelling back and forth to

Istanbul, it lead them no way. They couldn't trace Emir at all, but the good thing was they had all the proofs of Emir, the beloved politician, to get exposed. His crimes, his bribery record, everything.

On the first hearing of the orphanage kidnapping case, the proves provided by them, was enough for the court to file a report against Emir Gerdezi. But not enough to proof that he bribed the police.

Their little team was getting stronger day by day, until on one mission, where they were tipped wrongly about emir's location, a deadly crossfire took place and in that incident, Demir lost his life, by taking a bullet for his sir Fahad.

Babar was no good. He got shot on his spinal cord, which made him paralysis from the waist down, he couldn't walk now. His life was set on a wheelchair. His family was devastated after that.

Now all who left was Alp, who came out uninjured from that crossfire, and Fahad, who got a bullet on his left shoulder.

"They started blaming you for something you did not do, we stayed quiet, because you said you had it in control, you got hurt now, please leave all of this."

"I know what is your goal and you won't rest until, but my son, you saw what happened with your two friends, we wouldn't want that for you. Please stop it, it will not be your failure, you would be protecting your family."

"Bhai please, I really care about you, I am sorry for what I said that day, but please stop this, we want you in our life, more than anything."

"I don't want to see you in pain, you are my best brother."

His family obviously didn't took that well, and now demanded him to withdraw from his case, to which he declined again, determined to win this case.

25 DECEMBER, 2011.

MAIN HOUSE, ANKARA, TURKEY*

"What are we going to do now, sir?" Alp asks, sitting down on the stool next to Fahad, who was looking around the empty main house,

"Babar said he would be there for the second hearing, said he would defend our case from wheelchair, I declined." Fahad replies.

"Then what are we going to do? We cannot hire a lawyer at this point and the court won't except our case without one." Alp sighs looking down, "I did my research, the statement from the orphanage owner and the stiching centre lady also the altered footages are enough for keep Emir in jail, but just for few years. Not what we planned for."

"You know what I learned from my whole career Alp?" Fahad says suddenly, "Money can buy everything, your job, your career, your soul but just for a time being, after a certain time you would want to run away from it."

"Because what's one was your solution will be a problem." Alp completes, "But system doesn't understand that, do they?"

Fahad scoffs, "If they would, we wouldn't be here, Demir would be alive, Babar would be on his two feet, living a normal life."

"Your intuitive was so inspiring sir, you went against all odds to fight against this system, to do what your job asks for, if no one has said that, I will," Alp gets up from the stool, "I am really proud of you sir. And I am glad our city have an officer like you. Any respect shown to you would be less." He salutes, making Fahad shake his head, with a silent laugh,

"Thank you Alp, it wouldn't be possible without my team. We did all we could, but time wasn't in our favour." Fahad says, shaking hands with Alp.

"I have written many stories of serial killers, when the police used to confuse about the clues, it was my inspiration to write further, I used to enjoy writing it, but seeing you in real life, fighting for it, made me respect you even more, I will forever be grateful to have worked with you."

One hour later, Alp left the main house, making Fahad alone in the whole house, silently staring around, his mind ringing with the words thrown on him,

"I am telling you Ayeeza, if Fahad doesn't stop associating himself from this case, we will not let our daughter Fanaa get married to him."

He flinched when his phone rang in his hand, glancing at the caller, a smile reached his face,

"Hello?" The voice asks timidly, when he picks up,

"Fanaa." He says quietly, "How are you?"

"Good," she hesitates, "How are you?"

Fahad shrugs, "Not really good."

"You are okay right?" She asks, "Your wound?"

He glances at the bandage wrapped around his bicep, "A lot better." He replies, "My doctor did an amazing job, she's wonderful at her work."

She laughs silently, "I am sure she is."

"Where are you right now?" She asks,

"Ankara, I will be back in two days." He replies,

"Alright." She replies, they both fall in silence,

Fahad sighs tiredly after a while, "I am really

tired, Fanaa."

"I understand you, your dedication to your work is astounding but-"

"But you want me to give it up because it's not safe, and I am more valuable to my family than to a city?" Fahad repeats what he has been hearing from everyone,

"No," Fanaa denies, "I was going to say, but you never give up and that's what I am proud of you for, you are dedicated, you are determined to find a criminal for the sake of this city and not for personal reasons. Not a lot of people do that, you did and I am really really proud of you. I don't want you stop until you reach your goal, I won't let you."

He was stunned, there was a funny feeling in his chest which he couldn't despair, he felt like he couldn't breath, the pressure around his eyes kept increasing,

"I.." he clears his throat, unable to say anything,

"It's alright, you don't need to say anything, being in a profession, where others safety and health is my priority, I can understand your despair and I really respect you and your decision, do not listen to what people says, whatever you do, how much time it might take, I will be here, waiting for you."

"You will?" His voice scratch from the lump in his throat,

"Even when it takes a lifetime, whenever you will be ready." She replies, her voice equally emotional.

"I don't know what to say Fanaa," he says wiping the corner of his eye, "I feel like I don't deserve you."

"Don't talk about that, even I could say I don't deserve you, but I want you in my life Fahad," her voice breaks, "You don't what position you hold in my life, in the time we've known each other, I haven't gotten so much attention and respect from someone all my life. So you don't get to say that."

Fanaa wipes her tears and says clearly, "Now I want you to concentrate on your case and win it, you know I am with you and I am really proud of you."

"Thank you Fanaa," he think for a while, "I cannot wait to marry you and start a new life." He says looking around the empty house, where he would plan his future family, he will bring Fanaa here as his wife, she will add love to this house which will make it a home.

Their home.

"Inshallah you will Fahad." Fanaa says,

"Inshallah I will, because now I know, someone is waiting for me."

They both stay quiet for a while, just hearing each other's breathing, enough for their frantic heart to feel serene, content and belonged.

"When are we going to talk next time?" Fanaa asks quietly,

"When you will be seated in front of me," he smiles slightly, "As my wife."

She blushes but mutters a quiet, "Soon."

29 DECEMBER, 2011.

POLICE STATION, ISTANBUL, TURKEY*

Fahad sat there in his car, the rain pounding heavily on the windshield of his car, on his road in front of the station, on the road of Istanbul.

His heart was pounding dangerously in his hand, he kept his phone back in his pocket and stared ahead at the empty road, watching the rain pouring on it heavily.

It was like every time, he would go to his old cabin and store his evidence over there, but now, there was a fear in him, an unknown fear. He hasn't expressed a fear like this ever, in his training as a police officer, he forgot every feeling of fear but here he was experiencing it.

It was now or never, he knew his family was waiting for him, his Fanaa was waiting for him, and that's what gave him the determination to walk in that rain and enter the quiet police station at three in night.

He entered his old office quietly, knowing no will guess that he is keeping his evidence here, placing the brown paper bag of the usb on his table, he stared at his family photo next to it,

For them, he thought, all for them, his strength, his will to live. His heart.

It was a quiet creak of the floor, and his ear got alert, his heart pounding dangerously in his heart, placing the photo frame back on it's place, he stared ahead blankly, masking his blank face and forgetting everything as the cool barrel of the gun pressed against his neck,

"I was told you were looking for me?" An unknown voice speaks behind him, "So here I am, gracing you with my presence."

Slowly Fahad turned around, making the gun point at his head now, "Here is your last wish, officer."

"How coward of you, showing when no one is around." Fahad chuckles, "Of course, classic Emir Gerdezi." He states, staring blankly at the man, the criminal who he has been looking for ten months.

"I am not going to waste my time chatting with you here," Emir grits.

"What are you here for?" Fahad grins,

Emir's lips curve into a smirk, "For this." He says pushing the barrel of his gun on his chest, right above his heart and pulled the trigger,

It was numb at first, Fahad could feel the zing of the bullet piercing him, the pain came later, it was agonising, he felt like the side of his rib cage was ripped apart, he felt the blood oozing out in the tenth second, he felt his breath reutilising in the twentieth second.

It was quick but painful enough for Fahad to let out a panic breath, his eyes tearing up from the instant pain.

"The thing was officer," Emir says, pushing him back on his leather chair, "You were coming in between my works, you were coming in between my servants works. You already won the first hearing, making me go to jail, but I won't let you win the second one."

When he stood straighter, Fahad noticed him wearing gloves.

"You were too nosy for your own good." Emir tsks looking down at him, he signalled his men to come in, Fahad glanced at them painfully, His batchmate Rizwi being one of them, there he was standing, staring at the man, slumped on the chair, counting his last breaths, with whom he won many cases, with whom he shared the pain of his father's death, with whom he shared his financial struggles, and now he's going to help him kill him, all for money.

"You.." Fahad coughed painfully, his eyes on the family photo, "You....will...see the-th-" his breathing ragged, "Sa-same fire in m-my e-eyes. I...I pro-mis-e."

The pain was too much to bear, he wanted a relief from it, and he was slowly getting it as he saw Emir signalling his men to clear the office.

He knew what was happening, he was going away and people were ready to take everything from him, he could feel his body losing it's control, his legs were loosing it's strength, with an unconscious power in him he started mumbling clearly,

"Ash hadu ala ilaaha illahu.."

I bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah

"Take his revolver and put his handprints on it."

"Wahdu hu la sharika la hu wa ..."

The one alone, without an partner,

"Take every piece of evidence from here, leave no traces. Rizwi place the letter and take his handprints on it too.."

"Wa ash hadu anna Mohammedan abdu hoo wa rasoolu."

I also bear witness that Mohammed is his servant and messenger.

"Make sure every media should display the news of the brave officer, who committed suicide."

***

"On today's news nation breaking news, we have the news of the brave officer who was fighting for the case of the well known politician, has committed suicide in his office, at the police station near sea side, Istanbul.

Earlier this morning, his family was informed about his demise, we have our reporters outside the police station, showing us the live footage of Fahad Siddque's body being taken away in an ambulance, his father is seen clearly disturbed by his son's body, when our reporters tried to ask him few questions, his other son, very angrily pushed our reporters away along with few violent choice of words, it is seen as he took his emotionally disturbed father to his car, the behaviour portrayed by the dead officer's brother was found very offensive by the netizens

Upon investigation, the police has concluded that the officer has shot himself on his heart with his revolver, a suicide letter along with with fingerprints on it was found on it, concluding the suicide of the officer, the suicide letter was in the deceased's handwriting, as you can see the letter written was him constantly apologising to his family, with the last words being, I quit. The letter clearly shows the depressed state of the officer, which led him to take his own life.

When asked by a post mortem by the medical team, The dead officer's brother declined it very violently, and with his disturbing behaviour he threatened every single police officer to not come near his brother's body.

Currently our reporters are standing near the gates of siddque family's house, upon the arrival of the body, it was seen the deceased mother lost her consciousness, The deceased's brother was seen handling his distressed father before they entered inside their house along with the dead body, few minutes before the deceased fiancée was seen rushing through the gate along with her brother, she seemed to have no conscious thoughts, it was reportedly seen she was crying, her brother by her side was seen rushing towards the gate.

The deceased's younger sister was rushed from her school by her uncle, advocate Hamza Abbasi, according to our reporters, the little girl was seen quite confused seeing the rush of people outside her house and the crying inside her house, before our reporters could ask her anything, her uncle had pushed the media inside and rushed through the gates.

Through an inside source, it was told that the burial of Officer Fahad Siddque will be take place in two days, as the family has decided to bury the body at the central cemetery garden, of Ankara city, why is this city chosen, there is no information about it.

A little insight on the Fahad Siddque's suicide, almost a year ago, the officer took a case of investigating the kidnapping cases from various orphanages and shelters and according to him the suspect was one of the famous politician of Istanbul, Emir Gerdezi, upon given evidences in the court, Emir Gerdezi was sentenced jail for six years, after a cross fire incident in the warehouse of Gerdezi's shipment, Siddque's friend was left paralysed, and a week later, siddque committed suicide.

What was his reason to take his own life, was he afraid of the hate? Was he afraid of the wrath of Gerdezi? If he was, then why did he picked up this case? Or was officer siddque in a state of depression? Did he wanted to take his own life for a long time? Was he on some anti-depressants or anti-psychotics? The questions remain.

Keep following news nation, for more discussion on the officer siddque's suicide case along with the update on his funerals in Ankara city.

Have a good evening ladies and gentlemen, this is your host, Heer Durrani signing off for today."
