CHAPTER 3- ON A MISSION ~ Farhan💀
Met by Destiny
F A R H A N :-
Somewhere near Istanbul, Turkey*
It was happening again, the feeling like I might lose, my heart was hammering in my chest, my brain thinking of all the ways of I would lose, all the ways which made me a convening, pathetic loser, But I don't lose, I fight and I win.
Pushing the safety of the gun, I came out from my hiding position and shot the man who was standing with the three security persons near the staircase.
Let the chaos beginning.
Taking this as my signal, Hasnain shot the man beside him, and before the third person could turn around, He was shot on both of his elbows, the weakest point, so smooth. So Bilal.
"Done," Hasnain's voice reach in the earpiece and I nodded looking at him from his position near the reception of the hotel.
Three guards down, at the span of three seconds was enough for the people in the hotel to panic, scream and run out to save their dear life, one of the bell boys tried to discreetly push the emergency button, which in case of robbery or Ransack alerts the police.
He pushed the button and ran away but no sound came, I had to give that Yousuf did a pretty great job deactivating those Emergency buttons and all the security cameras.
"Great! Now we are covering upstairs, Inform bilal we are heading upstairs and tell him to cover here." I ordered him through the ear piece while aiming my next target.
"Roger that." Shooting my target I ran towards the direction of the stairs,
As we both head upstairs all the way dodging scared panicked people, till the time we reached the first floor the whole hotel was nearly empty, I signalled Bilal to stay put at his place, looking up at the banister of the second floor, I signalled my other companion to stay put over there.
Hasnain nodded his head, already in a defensive form, I was about heading the other direction when we both were rounded by a group of four armed men, the cat is slowly coming out of the bag, bring it on.
"Two and against four." Hasnain counted his back grazing mine, both of our guns pointed at them.
"My favourite." I said eyeing the third men who was stumbling slightly with his riffle, Newbie that one, always raw easy to target.
"Mine too." Hasnain mumbled,
"Then what are you waiting for?" I said dropping my gun silently telling Hasnain, that it's a hand game now, and punching the man next to the newbie, startling him, I could hear hasnain beating the shit out of the rest two,
I lifted my fist to smack the newbie as he picked up his two way radio transmitter to inform his pathetic team, but he flinched and dropped the transmitter down.
"Choose the wrong team, boy." I said before stepping on his transmitter and punching him square in the face, knocking him down directly.
After what seemed like few minutes, those men were now sprawled on the floor, bloody, bruised or knocked out.
Hearing a rustling sound from the door next to me, I hold my gun securely and kicked open the door, as soon as I opened the door, I was shocked to see a group of kids huddled in a corner, hasnain stood beside me mirroring my expression, I looked at him and he confirmed nodding his head,
This fucking gang were involved in trafficking.
I ushered all the scared kids downstairs to Bilal, where he would most likely send them with Officer Khan who was standing near the kitchen exit.
"Hasnain check the second door and free all the people or whoever from there!" I ordered him making a quick call officer khan about it.
Hasnain followed my orders and broke the doors and made girls escape from there.
"I've checked the other doors there are no more hostages here!" Hasnain came panting pointing at the other doors.
"Everything is clear here, No one is here or in grond floor D checked it, I will be waiting here you all check out remaining floors." Hasnain suggested.
"Great, Hasnain. You be here and I will check out second floor," I said making a dash to the stairs,
"Farhan take a backup." Hasnain calls up behind me.
Turning around I say "Don't worry that, I will be fine," and then ran towards the staircase, skipping two stairs at a time.
Reaching the floor I opened the first door which was what looked like a staff room, the second door was a janitor's closet also empty, after checking every door which was nearly empty and no clue evident, I was about to descend down the stairs, when something at the corner of the dark corridor caught my eye,
Staying alert I went towards that door to check if any hostages where present but to my relief no one was there infact it looked like a weapons storage room.
Interesting. Might as well as be illegal too. Charming.
Keeping my gun in a defensive stance I entered the room and left the door open, finding a light switch, I turned the lights on, and I was quite surprised to see what looked like, A meeting room.
Checking out from the door one last time, I looked over the large table to see some papers scattered on it,
This room also had few guns, so I picked two and strapped to my waistband, for backup of course.
Looking around the room for anything essential, I took a look at the papers, there were blue prints of some public places, one of them a mall at Ankara city. Fishing out my phone from my pocket I took a pictures of those blue prints, opening the drawers I took noticed of the stack of papers in them, they all looked identical, but they were Codes? For what exactly? Rummaging through the last of the papers, I noticed they were almost the same codes with different logarithms in it, I think I should take this so that Yousuf can decode it.
As I was folding the papers, something at the corner of eye caught my attention, it was rough handwriting of the idea behind the codes,
2011 original Usb Off-
Before I could read any further I felt the shift in atmosphere and before I could be alert, I felt a burning pain at the side of my arm, the papers sliding down from my hands,
Looking at my arm, I sighed in relief noticing the bullet only grazed my arm, but it still hurt like a bitch.
Looking over my shoulder, I grabbed my gun and turned back to shoot the person, but he was too fast he lunged at me and throw his fist, I dodged all of them, and hooked my foot along his ankle and brought him down with a painful thud, before I could leave the man grabbed my leg and brought me down too, my arm throbbed in pain as I smack my elbow on his face, using my arm as a distraction he pushed me and my head banged against the wooden foot of the chair, my vision felt hazy but still I tried to get up, I could make out the faint outline of the man picking up my gun and pointing at me,
Suddenly a gun shot was sounded and the guy infront of me stumbled and fall down at the floor beside me, getting up on elbows my eyes connected with Yousuf who had his gun which had faint white fumes still arising, pointed at the man.
Perfect.
"FB? You okay?" Yousuf came and squatted beside me, my vision wasn't getting any clear, it was getting worse.
Before I could tell him to take those papers, my tongue felt heavy and my surroundings started to fade evidently.
********************************
My eyes flickered open by the bright sunlight coming through the window, blinking the crust around my eye, slowly my vision started to clear as I observed my surroundings, plain white walls, rusty smell of water on the walls, on the side of the room there was a small rack and a closet, the sterile smell making my nose itch. Definitely a sabotaged property where Yousuf made his makeshift clinic.
My head felt a little heavy as I sat up straight, slowly shaking my head, I couldn't feel my left arm, looking at it I noticed the left sleeve of my shirt torn completely and my arm was bandaged, the rest of my shirt was still awkwardly hanging around my frame. Definitely Yousuf.
The door creaked open and my brain ached from that sound, Yousuf came in my sight with an obnoxious wide smile on his face.
"Rise and shine Cap." He says keeping his cup of whatever he was drinking on the steel racks of medicines, I winced at his voice.
"Where are we? How did we escape?"
"First, we are at an abandoned house, well it is not right now, which I made our secret spot the last time I came here for research and made a clinic, cool right?" He smiled admiring the room.
"And second, Officer khan helped us escape after you fainted like a Diva you are," He chuckles.
"And Other police officers reached there so they had to take Bilal and Hasnain with them, because according to them we were ransacking a innocent hotel," he scoffs, "Only if they knew, and D left behind to trace any evidence like a dog he is." He continues, his each words hit like a hammer in my head.
"Stop being so loud." I told him fisting my hair. Fucking headaches.
"Oops, I am sorry for that." He whispers and I glare at him.
"Don't you look a little too energetic this morning..." he whispered looking at his watch, "Or better Afternoon?"
"Where are the others right now?" I ask
"They are at S.I Cabin right now, being Bailed by officer khan." He whispers again.
I ran a hand through my face,
"You can talk normally, you know."
"Really?" He whispers again and then cleared his throat, "Really? Well okay now that you are accustomed to my voice, here have this." He speaks normally and passes me two advils from the rack where he stood.
Looking at the pills at my palm I said,
"Couldn't you have given me this earlier."
Yousuf hides his sly smile as he passes me a glass of water, Drinking water first I relieved my parch throat and also because I hate tablets.
"And what the hell is this?" I said pointing at my tattered shirt, eventually trying to distract him.
"I wanted to tear that obnoxious shirt, it was really bad, that's why. Sorry to say but you have zero taste." He quirks.
Rolling my eyes, I took a look at Yousuf, who was watching me curiously, gulping discreetly I filled my glass again and put the first pill on my tongue and gulped quickly, okay that was quick, now second, I could still feel Yousuf's stare at me,
"Did you called D?" I asked to distract him.
"No, but I will." He says.
"Then do now."
"After you have your meds." He narrows his eyes and stares keenly.
"Okay medico student, But this is an order, Now."
He made a whiny face but eventually stomped out. Sighing I gulped down the other tablet quickly before it could get struck at my throat, just because I hate headaches, I had to compensate my hatred on one thing.
Getting up from the stiff white bed, I grabbed my shoes which were kept near the foot of bed, Atleast he had the decency of not throwing it out.
Opening the closet beside the rack I found a plain black button up, which was maybe kept for emergency situations like this.
After changing I threw away my tattered shirt at the bin, collected my phone and wallet which was on the nightstand and wore my shoes with much difficulty, as I could only with one hand. My left hand was still numb and I thank yousuf mentally for whatever drug he gave me to numb this shitty pain.
Yousuf was at the living area, hanging up his phone after talking to who I assume D. When he looked at me approaching he frowned in confusion.
"You leaving?" He asks.
"I had to eventually."
"D said that after we left he tried to collect as much information he could, but got only a few, like the car number, which after finding out turns out to be a rental, D said he is going to investigate the details of the person who rented, and yeah that's that." Yousuf sighs.
I nodded my head, "Great, Atleast we are going somewhere, not lost like the last few cases. And...Did D got any types of papers which had some....codes in it?" I ask vaguely remembering them.
Yousuf frowns, "Not that he mentioned, Should I ask again?" He pointed to his phone.
I shook my head, "No, it's alright. I will ask him myself."
"So home?" Yousuf asks.
I nod "Yeah, Amma has been pestering me from few days to come back home, and if I don't go know, I am sure she would find me and drag my ass all the way to Istanbul herself."
Yousuf chuckles. "Sounds like her, anyway feel like a celebrity after watching this," He says opening the small TV, which had a news channel on.
-in today's news, A hotel at Sarköy, was Ransacked by a group of armed men who entered the hotel discreetly and caused a havoc, Sources say the men were some potential thugs who were there for steal by also turning all the cameras and emergency calls, but not finding anything valuable the thugs left the place after one hour of hijacking, zero deaths and seven casualties were reported from the scene. Three of them being security at the hotel and rest being un identified. Officials are still investigating on this case, further investigation will be reported.
"Wow. Celebrity moment." I mumbled.
"I know, My mom would be proud." Yousuf says smiling sarcastically.
"Anyway I would be leaving, inform me when Bilal and Hasnain and others are back."
"Alright and," Yousuf stood up from the sofa, "Do not move your injured arm, Do not drive for a while, Call a cab and If the pain continues, See a doctor I could do as much as I could, but maybe a professional could treat you more effectively."
"Okay, Since when did you become so mature?" I smirked punching his shoulder.
"Oh nah, it's just the professional talks I am an dork on off-work." He shrugs
"Sounds like you, Bye. And leave from here at midnight, you know the rest." I say and he gives me an two finger salute.
Coming out of the rusty building I Booked a cab to Istanbul which was nearly two hours drive, on my other phone, which had my fake information for safety purposes.
Sitting down in the cab, I saw Yousuf waving me from the second floor, like a hyper child, shaking my head I suppressed my smile and ignored him as the cab took off the road.
********************************
Istanbul, Turkey*
Rolling down the cab window, I let the early September winds flow through my hair, the familiar salty smell of sea hung in the air along with the dark sky, almost making me feel home again.
My eyes darted at the east harbour of downtown, As the cab passed through it, where a lot of memories had been made, good and bad, both of them which I don't want to relieve, anything about four years ago makes me want to flip the world. This part of this city is the evidence of my life here.
I pry my eyes away from the harbour and looked at the road ahead, the winds of Istanbul is same, the same winds which tells a story of my childhood.
After few minutes the cab stopped in front of familiar tall gates, paying the driver his money, I stretched my stiff limb and realised that my luggage is at the main house, I will tell Yousuf to drop it later on.
Reaching the main door, I opened it slowly and entered inside the house, Walking further in the living room I found it surprisingly empty, It's nearly eight in evening, Baba is usually home till this time, and I assume not hearing the screeching voice of my sister, she's either asleep or not home.
Reaching the veranda I slid open the door finding my mother sitting on the lounge sofa wrapped in a shawl, listening to radio which was on the table next to her.
Sensing my presence she turned towards me with a huge smile on her face.
"Farhan!" She exclaimed happily as I made my way to her, enveloping her in a hug.
"Feels like I am seeing you after such a long time." She says holding my face in her hands.
"You visited me last month, amma." I chuckle.
"A month is still very long for a mother." She sighs patting my cheek.
"Why don't you shift here, Farhan?" She asked with hopeful eyes.
"You know I can't amma, I have work in Ankara." I sighed.
The small flicker of hope vanished from her eyes, I hate doing this, makes me feel worst than I am actually.
"Okay leave that, I am here now right? And I am very much hungry right now, So would you do the honour of feeding me your delicious food." I said diverting the topic.
She nods happily and ushers me to the dining room,
"Where is your luggage beta?" [Son.] Amma asks and mind circulates making an excuse.
"I kept it in my room already." I replied smoothly, my luggage was left in Ankara, I didn't brought anything with me, before coming here I was to be at the mission and while shooting and fighting I couldn't really carry a luggage. But my mother doesn't needs to know that, for her I am coming back from a meeting from a nearby city.
"Alright, Change your clothes till then I will warm the food for you, I made your favourite kebabs today." She says patting my cheeks.
"Coming in a minute then." I say climbing up the stairs to my room.
After showering and changing my clothes which were always here, I changed into a t-shirt which covers my bandage effectively, still with much difficulty.
After two days I am going to rip those bandages off my arm.
As I was about to descend the stairs, freshly showered and relaxed, my eyes caught a room at the corner of the hallway, still locked. Till now no one has the heart to enter that room.
Prying my eyes away from it I made my way downstairs where the swift aroma of Amma's food filled the air making my stomach grumble.
Amma served me as I sat down at the dining table chair, and I started to eat quickly, god I missed this.
"Slow down." Amma chuckled "The food is going nowhere."
"Can't help it." I said while devouring the delicious meal.
"Were you really that hungry?" Amma ask softly combing my hair with her fingers, "You don't eat anything staying there alone don't you?"
Pausing my hand I looked at her,
"Of course I eat Amma, but your food has a whole different room in my stomach."
"That's why I say, get married atleast I would be relieved knowing there is someone to take care of you." She say
Not the marriage talk again-
I winced as amma placed her hand on my shoulder, the numbness was fading away and a dull pain was present now.
"What's wrong, did something came in the food?" She asked worriedly.
Making sure my expression is neutral I turn to her grabbing her hand,
"No Amma, it's nothing it's just I um fell..yeah fell down yesterday in office so.." I excused lamely.
"Can't you see and walk, you are a twenty six year old man now Masha'Allah and still can't see and walk properly." She scolds me smacking my good arm.
"Is it paining too much? show me your arm." She directed and I tried to conceal my panic.
"Absolutely not Amma it doesn't, don't worry I am perfectly fine, really. It's just that you touched there and on reflex I winced, I promise it is nothing." I assured her making her sit on the chair to my right.
"You sure you don't need to see a doctor, I would talk to one-"
"Amma, amma relax, it's nothing I promise okay?" I assured her, she looked still unsure so I tried to distract her,
"Where is Mina?" I asked diverting her attention to my injury.
"She went for a study session to her friend, Abbie's house." She say still looking perplexed.
"Okay tell her to be back before her curfew." I reminded munching on a slice of cucumber.
"And what about baba? Where is he?" My phone pinged and I discreetly checked the message,
Found a little on the person who rented that car, going after that, will keep you updated.
- D.
"He went to one of his colleague's daughter's wedding." I resumed eating after closing my phone.
"And you didn't? You always go with him to any functions," I question.
"I didn't because I knew my Farhan was coming home tonight, so I had to stay to see my son's face."
"How did you know I was coming tonight? I could've come tomorrow too, you know." I ask her smiling at her.
"My heart said, and a mother's heart is never incorrect." She say serving me some more kebabs and fried rice, she seemed a little distracted now, but I didn't ask her, not to make her worry more.
After few moments mom cleared her throat,
"Farhan, I need to talk to you about something important." mom said in a hesitant yet clear voice.
Wiping my mouth with the kerchief I settled it down and nodded my head,
"I am listening."
"You remember your mamu humza?" She asks carefully,
"Yes, Mamu hamza who lives in Ankara right? Is everything alright?" I asked eyeing her.
"Yes everything is alright you remember his kids?" She said gauging my reaction.
"I guess? He have two children right Murat and the girl um I don't remember her name what was her name um? Alisha?"
"No her name is Ayesha come on farhan how can you not remember her?"
She said waving her hands dramatically,
A vague distant picture of her formed in my mind, Last I've seen her years ago, I don't remember her clearly.
"I don't even know half of the relatives of your side amma, How can I remember her? And why all of a sudden you are talking me about mamu humza and And her daughter Ali- I mean Ayesha?" I exclaimed not getting the point of this conversation.
Amma sighed rubbing her hand over her face. "Alright, I won't beat around the bush here, I want you to get married." She declared and I stared at her blankly.
"You always do Amma, but to whom this time?" I folded my arms.
She smiled at me, the smile which looked sheepish and borderline excited, "To Ayesha."
I chocked on the air,
"Ayesha?" The name sounding foreign to my lips, leaving a weird spark in me, my pumping organ gave an unknown thump.
