CHAPTER 51- THE MEET ~ Farhan 💀
Met by Destiny
F A R H A N :-
"Are you sure this is the place?" I ask pointing at the large farmhouse in front of me.
"I am," Fanaa baji nods, "I even have the address saved with me,"
"Alright." I nod walking along the driveway, "So do you know who called you?"
"It was boy not much younger than you. Said he wanted a doctor to treat his cousins." She says. "I was suspicious, so I kept my live location on which gets recorded. When I got there I was shocked to see Ayesha."
I frown, "I still don't understand how Ayesha ended up here."
"That," Fanaa baji says as we reach the main door, "You need to ask the owner of this house."
She rings the bell, and I wait anxiously for the door to open.
Footsteps fall near the door and I step back away from the peep hole.
"Who is there?" A man asks.
That voice sounded familiar.
"It's me Dr. Fanaa, I brought the medicines for Sakina." Fanaa baji says.
The door unlocks and the opens, revealing the owner.
I suppress my anger as he smiles and let Fanaa baji in, when I step in front of him his smile falters and he staggers back.
"Y-you?"
"Yes, me." I reply before lifting my hand to punch his face.
Fanaa baji gasps looking at his face.
I step inside and close the door behind me. "I have a lot of work to be done with you." I grit out.
He holds his face and glares at me wincing, "I always say no to the deal breaker."
"Do you now?" I lunge at him again, grabbing his collar, "Do you now, Mr. Dorok Arsel?"
"Alright calm down your whistle." He chuckles nervously, "I swear I could explain."
I push him away, "Save it. Tell me whereâ"
"Down the hallway, second room." He says holding his face. "Hey doc, anything to repair this?"
"Ice bag would do." Fanaa baji says.
I shake my head before walking down the hallway to the room he said, the door was slightly ajar and I froze seeing her back.
I put my hand on the handle and take a deep breath.
This is the moment I have been waiting for the past three days. I couldn't be getting a cold feet now.
With a determined thought, I pushed open the door and my feet froze, her back was to me. She was shuffling something in front of her.
"What's with the commotion out there Fanaa baji?" She asks.
Her voice. I've been dying to hear it. The voice I didn't thought I would ever hear again.
"By the way youâ" she turns around with a tablet bottle in her hand and pauses seeing me.
Her eyes widen and the bottle slips from her hold.
"Farhan?" She whispers.
I waste no time and walk towards her, and in three long strides, she ran towards me and wrapped her hands around my neck and I grab her waist holding her closer.
I hold her closer to me, her scent enveloping me, making me feel closer to my home. The one which I was separated from. The fear of losing her, the pain thinking I won't be able to ever hold her, everything vanished the moment I saw her.
She tightens her hold on me and shoves her face on my neck. I felt my own eyes water feeling the wetness on my neck.
"I missed you so much." She whimpers, "I can't tell you difficult it was for me."
"I can't even tell you how much I feared loosing you." I whispered. "I am not letting you out of my sight ever."
"I don't want to go away from you." She sobs, "It's the worst thing."
"Never now my love, never." I say determinedly holding her impossibly closer. "Never now."
She moves back and hold my face in her hands,
"You were okay, right?"
I grab her hands which were on my face, "I am fine, what about you?"
"I am, I promise I am." She assures holding my hand.
"Are you hurt somewhere? That attackâwhat was it?" I ask her anxiously.
"It's a long story, I just want to hug you right now." I chuckle and wipe her tears before giving her forehead a kiss and bring her closer to me.
"I don't care about anything, I want to know if you were safe and weren't hurt." I say kissing on top of her head.
"Ask Dorok about the whole incident, rest assured I was safe. Don't worry about it." She says snuggling against my chest.
I sigh and melt against her hug. It's all I wished for and hear I am. I couldn't thank Allah more.
"These three days were hell for me." I whisper, "But I learned so much too, I can't wait to tell you."
"I can't wait to hear you talk. I missed you so much." She says giving my chest a kiss.
"I also have one important thing to say." I say moving away from her.
She frowns, her brown eyes twinkling with confusion, god how much I missed it.
"What my love?" She asks softly.
I grab both of her hands and kiss her knuckles.
Looking in her beautiful eyes, I say,
"I love you too."
Her eyes widen and despite the tear stains her cheeks flushed pink. "Y-you read my letter?"
"I did." I bring her closer to me, "And it was the only thing which kept me sane."
She smiles looking at me, "Then let me tell you again, To the man with the bravest heart, My Farhan.."
My ears started to ring and my eyes watered as she grabbed my face in her hands and said the words which I only imagined,
"I love you." She smiles and looks at me with such love that really made the tears escape my eyes.
Her own eyes water as she wiped my tears.
"I love you too, more than anything in this whole wide world." I say before bringing her closer to me.
"I don't want to be separated from you again." She whispers,
"Neither do I." I say giving her head a kiss.
There was a knock on the door before a voice called out, "Are you guys decent?"
Ayesha chuckles, moving away to look at the door, "Shut up Sakina."
The door creaks open, and there she stood, she gives us a mischievous smile but I frown noticing the large bandage wrapped around her forehead.
"Hello again, big guy." She grins leaning against the door frame.
"Hey." I reply unsurely, "You good?"
She waves her hand dismissively, "Nothing I couldn't handle."
"Don't say that now." Ayesha says, "I would never forgive you for what you did."
"Uff." Sakina huffs, "Let it go already, it happens."
"No it doesn't." Ayesha argues, "No normal person jumps in front of their friend to take the bigger impact you idiot."
I raise my eyebrows, "She did?"
"Yes." Ayesha nods, "She jumped on top of me so I couldn't get hurt and got hurt itself."
"Ayesha." Sakina sighs, "We are not doing this again, and I was on a task to save you. And most importantly.." she looks at me, "I knew someone would go on a rampage if something happens to you, so I did the greater deal by myself."
Before Ayesha could argue, Dorok called out from the living room, "If the reunions are done, could we come out and talk like adults?"
"Ah even the dork is calling us, let's go." Sakina says moving out.
"Let me find my hoodie." Ayesha says moving away from me, "Farhan you go I will be there."
I nod before giving her forehead a kiss and walk out of the room, seeing Sakina standing in the hallway, I walk towards her.
I clear my throat nearing her, she looks back at me and raises her eyebrows, "Yes?"
"Thank you." I say and her eyes widen in surprise, "You did me a great favour, thank you."
She struggles to say something and chuckles awkwardly, "You're welcome, I guess."
"Did you knew about what was going to happen?" I ask her.
She sighs, "Dork is about to explain all of it, let's go."
I turn back to look Ayesha walking out of the room wearing a lose fitted hoodie and head covered with the cap.
"I couldn't find my hijabâSakina don't you dare laugh." She warns winding her hand around my arm.
Sakina chuckles, covering her mouth. "Alright Spider monkey. Let's go now."
"You look cute by the way." I whisper to her and she scrunches her nose.
"I don't." She shakes her head.
"You don't know about it." I chuckle as we walk towards the living room where Dorok was seated holding a ice bag to his face.
Sakina was seated beside Fanaa baji, me and Ayesha sat on the couch opposite to them.
Dorok looks at me before wincing holding the ice bag.
I roll my eyes. "Come on now princess, you've seen worst than that."
Sakina snickers and Ayesha smack my knee.
"Shut up." Dorok mutters.
"Alright now, start explaining how everything started." I say leaning back.
Dorok nods keeping the ice bag down, "Okay, so you know Imran Awan?"
I frown, "Sounds familiar."
"He was the one who tried to you know did that proposal thing." Ayesha fills in awkwardly.
I raise my eyebrows, remembering a while ago I found out he was the one who drunk called Ayesha.
"Yeah him," Dorok says, "Turns out he was related to.." he hesitates, "Danish Ali."
"What?" I sputter out in disbelief, "Danish? Seriously?"
"Apparently he was," Ayesha nods, "And we also got to know that the whole proposal thing was an act."
I stare at her in shock, "What do you mean?"
"It means that Danish was using Imran as a leverage to get back at....me." She says looking down. "He had this whole story planned in his mind, everything worked out except for the part where my father married me off to you instead of him."
It took me a while to understand what she said and slowly anger started simmering in me.
"Basically the dumbass planned on humiliating Ayesha and then walking in as a hero who would marry the tainted girl." Sakina scoffs,
I clench my fist in anger, "Now I understand." I mutter. "All the things he did."
Ayesha grabs my fist in her hand. "His target was to get back to me, he always wanted to have some sick kind of ownership on me. Which I didn't realised it earlier." She shudders in disgust.
I grab her hand in mine, "Don't worry he will pay for everything he did."
"But.." I wonder in confusion, "How did you all got to know about his intentions?"
"Imran told us." Sakina says.
"I am sorry what?" I sputter in confusion.
"Yes," Dorok nods, "The thing is Farhan, Danish blackmailed Imran about something and forced him to kidnap Ayesha."
My mind starts spinning and I sit forward in agitation, "Kidnap?"
"That bomb blast was his plan." Ayesha says softly and I snap my head at her.
"She is right, Danish trained Imran to get Ayesha during that blast, because you won't be suspicious and would think she probably got injured in the blast or went missing from there. No one would suspect kidnapping." Dorok fills in.
I couldn't say anything. This new information made me more than angry, so much that I wanted to crush Danish's skull in my hands.
"And here I come in the picture. Remember you send me to get that office work?" Dorok says widening his eyes and I nod remembering I send him to spy on one of Emir's base.
"Yeah so I saw Danish there." I look at him in shock again.
"Are you kidding me?" I scoff.
"Unfortunately no. I saw him there, followed him, tapped his phone with our friend Yousuf's help and heard his conversation with Imran. Then I also tracked Imran and got to know about the blackmailing.
"So you reverse blackmailed him?" Sakina asks.
"No." Dorok denies, "That's why I involved you didn't I?"
"You were involved?" I ask her in disbelief.
"Oh my god wait!" She raises her hands, "He just told me to help him something to save Ayesha, and I did."
"Then why did you went to that fair? You should've denied." I argue.
"As if that didn't crossed my mind genius." She smacks her forehead and wince, "Ouch, dork just keep talking."
"Right, back at me. So I contacted Sakina and explained her everything. Eventually she denied it," Sakina mocks at me. "But I explained her the situation and she agreed."
"You could've told me about it too." I glare at him.
"You are not understanding. Think if I could tap Danish's phone, there could be a possibility mine could've too. Besides I met Sakina personally." Dorok explains.
"If barging in my car counts." Sakina mutters.
"Anyway." Dorok sighs, "So to not see any suspicious, I told Sakina to go to the fair as planned and rest I will handle."
"And how did you handle?" I ask curiously.
"Before the blast, I gave Sakina a signal so she could run to our safe spot with Ayesha before imran could reach them." Dorok sighs, "Except that went a little wrong."
"How so?" I raise my eyebrow,
"Imran saw us." He says.
"And?"
"And we kidnapped him." Sakina says, "Reverse game plan."
"It is how it sounds." Ayesha winces. "Dorok really kidnapped him." I look at her and she shrugs guiltily, "With the chloroform and all."
When I look at Dorok he chuckles nervously, "I mean after that we got to know about Danish's whole plan, win-win." He shrugs, "And we did recorded him."
"Is he still here?" I ask.
"No he flew away this morning. He was guilty enough and I had other bunch of stuff to use against if he try to double cross. Imran is an easy pass. Guaranteed." He assures.
"What if he does." I counter back.
"He won't." Sakina says. "Imran is just a little birdie who can be used. He is no harm."
"Alright so back to what happened, things obviously didn't went as planned. Sakina got hurt pretty bad, Ayesha passed out in the van from the adrenaline rush. Somehow I brought the three unconscious people to my farmhouse, which was the safest spot I knew."
"And how did you contacted her?" I ask pointing at Fanaa baji who was listening quietly to our conversation, as if it didn't phase her.
"Oh it was a fluke. I didn't knew it was Ayesha's cousin, she came in here, saw Ayesha and started freaking out. So I had to explain everything censoredly."
Fanaa Baji chuckles, "You weren't exactly subtle about the guns in your kitchen drawers. That gave me an suspicious feeling and it was natural of me to freak out seeing Ayesha, who was missing from a day before. And Dorok, there was nothing to censor. I have seen way worse."
"Of course a beautiful and smart surgeon." He grins, "But what brought you here?" He asks me.
I point at Fanaa baji and she shrugs, "Guilty."
"It's not her fault. You could've involved me in someway. Do you know what I went through these past three days?" I ask vehemently.
Ayesha squeezes my hand and Dorok nods, "I don't, I know I am sorry, but try to understand Farhan, it was not safe for you or Ayesha. You already had a mole working in your house."
"What? Who?" I ask immediately.
"It was a maid, a spy sent by Emir. I apologise in advance but I had Yousuf hack your security's computer and check her record, and don't worry your grand mother already fired her." He holds up a cushion in front of him.
I sat silent for a while. "So black don was Yousuf? Now I know why he couldn't find that hacker."
"Now that I remember, there was a maid who always looked through my stuff when we were there, I didn't thought about it much, but it makes sense. Thank god bi jaan fired her." Ayesha says sighing beside me.
"Damn you Emir." I curse silently.
"Am I safe now?" Dorok asks peeking from the cushion.
"Time will tell." I mutter.
Fanaa baji's mobile's notification goes off and she frowns checking it, "It's Mina. Says to put on the news."
"Why?" Ayesha asks.
Dorok leans forward and grabs the remote from the table and switches on the television. He swifts through the channels before putting on the news channel.
"....And in tonight's breaking news, we bring you the news of the famous politician's Emir Gerdezi's arrest."
Dorok shots me a shocked face and I hear Ayesha and Fanaa baji gasp.
"There was no particular reason for his arrest released yet, it was seen that the politician was arrested from his warehouse this evening by police and it was seen FBI officers earlier this evening entering Gerdezi's house with a search warrant."
"Farhan..?" I heard Ayesha whisper as I stare at the screen.
"Our reporters tried talking to Emir Gerdezi's assistant and all he replied was his boss was going to be granted a bail soon. But the conditions doesn't look in their favour. Talking with senior inspector, officer Tahir, while talking to our reporter, revealed that the five year old case of officer Fahad siddque is opening again and Emir will be brought to court this time. To hear more information on the trial and the old case of officer siddque, keep watching world daily..."
Silence. Absolute silence.
"What-" Dorok gapes at the television, looking at the video of police dragging Emir from his warehouse. "Howâhow is it happening?"
"They are opening Fahad's case?" Fanaa baji asks softly, tears evident in her eyes. Sakina gives her a comforting hug.
"Farhan are you okay?" Ayesha asks softly. "Did you knew about this?"
"I am perfectly fine." I reply. "And yes I knew about it."
"How?" She asks confused.
"Because.." I say looking at everyone, "Because I got an evidence, which is enough for Emir Gerdezi to rot in jail for a lifetime. No paroles this time."
They all look at me with shocked faces.
"And no I am not in dilemma. I know what I am saying." I say chuckling.
"What evidence?" Dorok asks.
"That will be seen in court." I say giving him a sly grin.
Dorok laughs, "I don't know what it is but your grin is saying you did something big."
I nod and look at Fanaa baji who was lost in her thoughts, "Don't worry Fanaa baji. This time it's going to be our win."
She smiles wiping her tears, "Inshallah."
I turn to look at my wife who was carefully gauging my reaction. "I am fine, I promise. I know what I am doing."
She nods giving me smile. "I trust you."
****
I look at the dark sky, the warm winds flowing around me, giving me a weird sense of comfort.
I like the sky today. It's dark like usual, but this kind of night gives comfort... a sense of comfort. A feeling I haven't felt in a long time.
A part of me feels so free, so content, it feels weird to feel it after a long battle.
I turn around hearing my name, a smile touches my lips seeing my wife walking towards me with two steaming cups in her hands,
"A little help senor?" She asks cutely and I move forward taking a cup from her hand.
"At your service senora." I chuckle looking at the tea, "Oh wow."
"Come here." She gestures at the bench at the situated at the corner of the terrace.
We both take a seat on it and she sighs, looking at the lanterns lined up along the terrace railing in front of us.
"I missed this." We both say at the same time. We look at each other and share a laugh.
I take a sip from my cup and sigh in contentment. "You have magic in your hands, and I really missed your magic."
"You are my existing magic. I don't need any other." Ayesha says leaning her head on my shoulder.
I grab her hand and intwine our fingers together.
"I learned a lot of things in these three days." I say caressing her knuckles.
She pokes my shoulder, "I got all night."
I chuckle taking the last sip of my tea. "First thing I learned was your importance. I am nothing without you. The moments I spend without you were the hardest."
She takes our now empty cups and place it on the table beside her.
"I realised how much lucky am I to have an understanding, sensible, beautiful, kind and considerate wife like you. I am ready to devote my life to you." I say looking at her.
She chuckles. "Quite a liner that was."
"That was a little cheesy, I agree." I nod, "But my feelings are still the same. I am sorry if I couldn't say it enough, I am so so so glad I got married to you. And realising it was our destiny, makes me fall for you a little more."
She shakes her head, "I had the same thoughts too, every minute without you were torture. I don't want to live in that moment again."
Her eyes water and I throw my arm over her shoulder and bring her closer to me, "And we never will. Inshallah."
"Inshallah." She whispers as I wipe her tears. "So tell me what happened, how is everyone back home?"
"Everyone is fine and they all miss you." I smile, "You won't believe but we all stood together as a team to find you. Everyone was determined more than anything. Especially Mina."
Ayesha scrunches her nose as her eyes water again, "Aw my family. Remind me to give them a call in morning. I missed everyone a lot."
"You don't to," I say, she looks at me confused, "Because they all are here, waiting at our home to meet you. Meet them in the morning."
She gives a wide smile, "They all came here? I am now more than excited." She gushes happily and I give her forehead a kiss.
"Did you talked to my parents? How are they?" She asks,
I hesitate, "They are fine...your mom had a slight health scare, but she is fine now I promise."
Her eyes widen with fear, "What happened, she is fine right?"
I grab her fumbling hands, "She is perfectly fine now, I promise. I talked to her this morning and she was really happy hearing I found you."
She relaxes a bit, "You promise?"
"I do. She is fine. Do you want to talk to her?" I ask taking out my phone,
"No no I trust you. I will call her in morning." She sighs, "We are leaving this tomorrow, right?"
"We are." I say. "And we are going to our home."
She smiles and lays her head on my chest, sighing in content.
"Also.." I sigh running my hands through her hairs, "I did something.."
She tips her chin up and smiles, "I am listening."
"The night I read your letter, I didn't knew how to react, to cry or to laugh. I was in a difficult state. I went out for a walk, distraught and sad. I remember having a breakdown in the middle of a road. The next moment.." I take a deep breath,
"I heard adhaan," I could feel her stare on me, "And I followed it, I...I prayed Ayesha."
She gives me a smile, "How did you felt?"
"Wonderful." I say, "Like it was the only thing which would give me peace and yet I was running away from it. When I raised my hands for dua, I couldn't say anything. I kept crying. My throat clogged up. My voice was nowhere, only tears."
"You know what that means?" She says, I shake my head. "Your heart still has it's imaan. It was your heart pouring out. Your brain won the battle for too long, the heart got tired and the brain shut down."
I smile, "I felt the same. Praying there, finding myself was all new experience. You know I even prayed after I heard you were safe. That means I still remember Allah in my good times, so that makes me good person right?"
She chuckles patting my face. "Never said you weren't my love. You were just hidden under the walls you built, you still have a golden heart."
"But you know I really felt at peace when I fell in sujood, and cried in front of Allah. I regret not praying all these years. And look at Allah..I prayed one time, only one and he answered all my questions." My ears start to ring and my eyes water,
"I was worried about you, he gave me you safe and sound. The thing which weighed me down for five years, for which I fought constantly, I got it in a matter of minutes. How merciful is he?"
Her own eyes water and she squeezes my hand. "Allah knows how much a person can handle, and tests them accordingly."
"I realised it. I realise it now." I take a deep breath and look down at her, "Ayesha... I found the evidence of my brother's murder."
She rears back in shock, "W-what?"
"It was right under me." I say, "In all these years where I looked around the world for the murderer, and all the evidences were right under me."
"How did you found them?" She asks surprised,
"It was as if Allah made an invisible ladder for me, I heard my brother's recording. Met Bilal's brother, something about both of their words made me go back to where it ended, and after all every beginning was planted over there only."
She chuckles, "This-this is unbelievable."
"I know." I nod chucking in disbelief, "After roaming around the country for years, everything was so near yet so far. I also realised what you said was so right."
Her smiles deter and she frowns, "What I said?"
"Yes you. Remember you told me to leave it all on Allah, I did and he showed me every path. I was downed in my revenge for so long that I forgot everything. One sujood, and he gave me back everything,"
She smiles, "I am so happy you understood that. It feels light to give your trust on him, doesn't it?"
I nod, "It so does." I sigh looking at her, "It so does."
"So what's next?" She asks after a while.
"The next and final step. Which was on hold for years." I reply looking at the dark sky.
"You will be going to court?" I nod. "Everything set?"
"Everything." I reply. "Got the best lawyer in the city."
"I hope everything works in our favour." She sighs.
"It will." I say and frown hearing the sound of door opening from down, "Who's that?"
"Fanaa baji, she must be going after checking up on Sakina." She replies as I get up from the bench and look over the railing to see her leaving,
"Fanaa baji!" I call her and she looks up asking me what's wrong.
I turn towards Ayesha. "I need to give her something, be right back."
I give her head a kiss before running down the stairs to Fanaa baji,
"Everything good Farhan?" She asks as I stop in front of her, "I thought you were here for the night."
"I am," I reply, taking out a usb from my pocket, "I wanted to give you this."
She frowns picking up the usb in her hand, "What's this?"
"Your closure." I say and she looks at me confused until it hits her,
She looks at the usb with wide eyes, "Is-is it..?"
"Yes." I reply. "He left it for you."
I could see her eyes water as she clutches the usb closer to her. "Thank you so much."
"Start moving forward, everyone is. What happened has happened, even you deserve to be happy. I know he would never wanted to see you like this." I say looking at her who clutched the usb tightly in her hand as if it was a living proof of him and she craved for it.
"It's a big thing Farhan." She says, "It takes time."
"But I hope, you will take that time to do it." I say.
She shrugs, her chin wobbly, "I can't promise."
"It's alright." I say. "Everything is going to be alright."
"It will eventually." She says. "Thank you for this."
"It was yours." I smile, "Should I drop you?"
She shakes her head wiping her tears, "No, my driver is here."
"Alright then," I nod, "Leave a message when you reach."
She chuckles ruffling my hairs, "I will. Good night,"
I watch her waving up at Ayesha before she left in her car, realising once I was in her position and couldn't except to come out of it. I needed a push, and Allah gave me that in the form of Ayesha.
I really hope Fanaa baji gets that push in her life. She deserves that.
I look up hearing a whistling sound,
"Didn't anyone teach you not to roam in the roads in night?" Ayesha asks mockingly,
I smirk, "No one did. I am a rebel."
"Oh I am scared." She chuckles, "Come up here and give me some rebel hugs."
"On it ma'am." I reply before going inside the farmhouse to my little pushover who taught me to live and love again.
After all what's a little push to fall in love?
