Chapter 161
Falling for My Contractual Wife
The doctor looked up at her and suddenly smiled without saying anything.
Grace instantly understood that her guess was right.
There was no free treatment. Someone had just paid for their surgery anonymously.
This person should be Justin.
Grace came back to the ward with conflicting emotions, increasingly aware of her growing debt to Justin.
She looked at her phone for a long time before calling Justin.
Justinâs gentle voice sounded. âGrace, whatâs wrong?â
âI just wanted to ask if Dr. Vance is free tomorrow. I want to treat you to a meal.â
Justin paused for a moment before smiling. âOf course, as long as youâre looking for me, Iâm always free.â
His low and hoarse voice made Graceâs eardrums tingle. Her shoulders trembled slightly. âOkay, Iâll send you the address later. Are you busy now?â
Justin felt that Grace was a little strange. She had never cared about him so much.
âIâm not busy. Whatâs wrong? Do you want to talk to me for a while?â
Grace bit her lips. âItâs nothing. Weâll talk about it tomorrow. Go to work first.â
Justin laughed out loud. âAlright, Iâm looking forward to tomorrow.â
The next day, Grace and Justin ate at a cafe near the apartment.
Grace pushed the menu toward him after ordering. âLetâs see what you want to eat.â
Justin looked at her. She seemed to be very happy/Her eyes were filled with smiles, and her mood infected him.
He smiled and said gently, âJust order it. If you like it, Iâll like it too in the future.â
Grace felt awkward as he made ambiguous remarks from yesterday until now.
When Justin noticed that she seemed to be shy, his smile widened. âDid you ask me out for a meal today because you have something happy to share with me?â
The waiter brought the drinks. Grace picked up the cup and held it in front of him with coffee instead of wine. âYou know.â
Justin raised his cup and clinked it with hers. He raised his eyebrows and asked, âI know? What do you know?â
Grace took a sip of juice and smiled/
Justin was a little puzzled. Grace was so abnormal today.
AP Justin, stop pretending. I know you helped with my brotherâs surgery, right? You specially invited Dr.
Olivia from your hospitalâs hematology department to operate on my brother.â
Justinâs expression froze for a moment. He did not speak for a moment, but he was waiting for Graceâs next words in his heart.
âIâve never told you about my brotherâs leukemia. You found out from Angie, right?â
âNo matter what, thank you for everything youâve done for me. Iâll definitely pay you back for my brotherâs surgery fees. I really owe you more and more.â
Justin pieced together some answers from her words, but he was not very sure.
He felt a bit flustered and pondered the identity of the anonymous benefactor who covered her brotherâs medical expenses. He harbored a suspicion that it might be Brian.
It was not until Justin found out that her brother had leukemia. If he had known earlier, he would have transferred her brother to Southside Hospital to take care of him personally.
Grace saw that he was in a daze and waved his hand in front of his eyes. âJustin, whatâs wrong?â
Justin blinked. âItâs nothing. I was just thinking about work.â
Justin was absentâminded during the meal. After he finished eating, he sent Grace to the apartment building and hurried back to the hospital.
He went to look for Dr. Olivia from the Hematology Department.
Dr. Olivia told him that there was no such thing as free surgery fees. The reason he accepted this surgery was because he had received payment.
