Chapter 32
Falling for My Contractual Wife
âMiss Sherman!â
Outside the door, Camren came over with someone from the supervision company and saw this scene.
Camren immediately ran in and helped Grace up from the ground.
Grace clutched her stomach in worry, grabbed his arm, and pleaded, âCamren, take me to the hospital.â
Camren nodded heavily, glancing at the worker before taking Grace away.
The worker knew he was in trouble, his face pale with fright.
âGo to Southside Hospital.â After Grace finished saying this to Camren, she gave Justin a call.
Justin was supposed to be out of the clinic today, but when Justin received a call from Grace, he rushed to the hospital.
After taking Grace to the hospital, Camren called Brian and briefly recounted what had happened on the construction site.
After an ultrasound, Grace worriedly asked, âHow is the child? Is it okay?â
âThe injury didnât reach the womb. The cramping you were feeling in your abdomen was probably you pulling your intestines.â
Grace breathed a sigh of relief. âThank you!â
âDonât thank me anymore. By the way, whoâs the guy who brought you here just now?â Justin smiled softly at her.
Grace pursed her lips, not knowing how to answer the question.
Justin rubbed her hair. âItâs okay. Letâs go. Iâll send you out.â
âOkay.â
The two of them walked out of the examination room, one after the other, and ran into Brian.
Brian looked like he had just rushed over. His hair was a little messy. When Brian saw Grace and Justin come out together, the expression on Brianâs face instantly became gloomy and terrifying.
Grace remembered that yesterday, Brian had warned her not to get too close to Justin. Yet, coincidentally, Grace bumped into Justin today. Based on Brianâs temper, Grace feared Brian would say something nasty.
Brian stretched out his long arm and yanked Grace over roughly to his side.
âSir, sheâs a patient. Please keep that in mind!â Justin said in a stern voice, furrowing his eyebrows.
âItâs no concern of Dr. Vanceâs what I do to her, is it?â Brian retorted.
Justin sneered and glanced at Brian. âWhat? Are you a family member of the patient?â
âIt doesnât matter who I am. What is important is that you should keep your distance from her. I heard there are a lot of scandals concerning Dr. Vance.â
JM M M.M The situation was tense and explosive. Grace couldnât help but gently tug at Justinâs clothes. âDr.
Vance, thank you. Iâll come back next time for my checkup.â
âOkay. Feel free to contact me if youâre feeling unwell.â Justin smiled softly at her.
Grace nodded and turned to leave.
Brian stared at Justin gloomily for two seconds before withdrawing his gaze and striding away.
As he questioned the relationship between Grace and Brian, Justin seemed to have guessed whose child Grace was carrying. âIf sheâs the maid to the Francis family like Grace says she is, then Brianâs reaction is too unusual.
âHis desire to control Grace is too strong, Justin thought.
Before Grace could get out of the hospital, Brian grabbed her wrist, âYouâve gotten very gutsy! I just warned you yesterday, yet you forgot it completely today. Did it go in one ear and out the other?
âI fell. Is it wrong of me to come to the hospital?â
Brian gritted his teeth and asked, âWhy did you have to see him at the hospital?â
Grace was dumbfounded. âItâs just a coincidence that I landed in his care.â
Brian was furious. âJust a coincidence? Grace, do you think Iâm stupid?â
Grace felt very wronged. She hadnât done anything, but Brian seemed to act as if she had cuckolded him.
She was clearly the victim today.
âIf thatâs what you think, then I donât want to explain anything.â Grace didnât want to argue with him pointlessly. After all, this marriage was just a transaction. Brian was Party A, while Grace was Party B, so Grace had no right to defend herself.
Brian was even more furious when he saw her attitude. âWhat kind of attitude is that? Iâm warning you again! He could lose his job anytime if you donât keep your distance from him!â
Grace looked at him with tears in her eyes and said disheartenedly, âOkay, itâs my fault. I apologize to you. I shouldnât have come to the hospital for a checkupâ
After saying that, she stubbornly turned around and left the hospital alone.
Camren looked at the two people who were arguing and couldnât help but step forward and persuade, âMr. Francis, what happened today must have given Miss Sherman a fright, so please donât get mad at her.â
Brian briefly looked at Graceâs back with halfâsquinted eyes, then said coldly to Camren, âGo follow her.â
âYes, sir!â
Grace walked on the side of the road. Her eyes blurred with tears, so she couldnât even see the potholes on the road. She stumbled and almost fell over.
She wiped her tears from her eyes and walked on.
15&B M Camren pulled over the car in front of her, got out of the car, and stopped her. âMiss Sherman, itâs hot.
Please get in the car.â
Seeing that it was Camren, Grace didnât refuse. She opened the car door and got in.
Grace didnât want to shed tears in front of unfamiliar people, so after wiping away her tears, she turned her head toward the car window and didnât speak.
Camren drove in the direction of the villa.
âArenât we going back?â asked Grace, confused.
âMr. Francis has already found a supervision company. You donât have to go there anymore. I will drive you back.â
Grace remembered that when Camren came today, he did bring two people with him.
âDid you come here this morning because of Brianâs order? Did he find them?â
âYes,â Camren said, looking at her, âso Miss Sherman, donât get mad at Mr. Francis. Mr. Francis is merely upset because he rushed over to see you only to see you and Dr. Vance talking and laughing.â
Grace pursed her lips. âDid I misunderstand him?
âIs he really that considerate?â Grace thought.
âI also talked to Mr. Francis about the bullying you suffered on the construction site. As for how that person will be dealt with, you will know in two days, Camren said.
Grace couldnât believe that Brian would avenge her.
âCamren, you donât have to tell me that.â She was leaving anyway.
âIf I donât say it, Iâm afraid youâll cry all day over it, right?â
No, Grace was feeling even more complicated now. Brianâs actions were nothing more than torture to her.
If she could, Grace hoped Brian would be more cruel to her. At least Brian shouldnât treat her badly in one moment and be nice to her in another.
She felt like she was going mad in the last two days. She wanted to give up everything and didnât want to stay by his side anymore, but Grace needed money to cure her brotherâs illness. âIf I give up now, then what is the point of me staying by Brianâs side the past two years?
âI didnât get anything but lost my heart and ended up hurt, Grace thought.
Louise was stunned when she saw Grace, whom Camren sent back. âGrace, why are you back?â
Camren was the first to explain. âMiss Adkins, Mr. Francis arranged for someone from the supervision company to oversee the construction. After all, Miss Sherman doesnât understand interior design. Mr.
Francis is more reassured by hiring a professional.â
Louise pursed her lips, her eyes flickering. âReally? Very well. Grace hasnât been c
