Chapter 33
Falling for My Contractual Wife
Camren nodded and said, âThen Miss Adkins, Iâll be leaving.â
Louise nodded and walked over to Grace. Louise commented, âGrace, Brian is so nice to you.â
Grace looked up at her. Although Louiseâs voice was soft and gentle, it made Graceâs heart skip a beat.
Grace nervously explained, âMiss Adkins, I think you misunderstood. Mr. Brian is doing this to make your new house safer to live in.â
âIâm just kidding. Why are you so nervous?â Louise said, smiling.
Grace breathed a sigh of relief. âDoes Miss Adkins have any other orders?â
âNo. If youâre tired, you can rest for a while. I want to eat short ribs for dinner,â Louise said.
Louise smiled beautifully and went upstairs to her room.
At night, when Brian got home from work, Grace had already finished preparing dinner and returned to her room to rest.
There were only two people at the table, Brian and Louise.
Louise was halfway through the meal when she saw that Brian didnât plan on telling her about hiring the supervision company, so she took the initiative to mention it herself.
âBrian, you should tell me if you want to hire someone from the supervision company. After all, we are going to live together in the future. Whether it is a small matter or a big matter, we should discuss it together in the future, okay?â Louise said.
Louise put on a generous and reasonable attitude. Coupled with her gentle expression, anyone who saw it would think she was a sensible woman.
âThen why didnât you consult with me when you asked Grace to oversee the work?â said Brian, pausing as he ate, looking at her.
Louise was stunned. The manâs rhetorical question was something she didnât expect.
âBrian, sheâs our maid, after all. Do I need to report to you about how I manage a maid?â Louise asked calmly.
Brian put down his fork and looked at Louise, asking, âDid you know that she was almost molested by a worker today?â
âThat canât be true!â Louise exclaimed, her eyes widened in surprise.
Brian continued, saying, âIf it wasnât for Camren arriving in time to stop it, how far do you think things would have gotten?â
Louise said, âBrian, I just asked her to keep an eye on the renovation. I didnât know that the person doing the renovation would have this kind of character.â Louiseâs face turned pale.
âAfter all, she is now our familyâs maid. If something happens to her, we will be held accountable.
âIâm sorry, Brian, I didnât think it through,â Louise said.
Brian took a breath and said in a deep voice, âIn the future, aside from the regular tasks at home, if you make arrangements for other things, let me know in advance.â
âOkay. Iâll go see Grace in a moment and apologize to her while Iâm there. She didnât say anything when she came back. Iâll do my best to comfort her.â
Brian said nothing more about the matter and said, âIâm full.â
He got up and left.
Louise bit her lip.
âHe actually scolded me for so long for Graceâs sake!â Louise thought.
When Louise said she would apologize to Grace in person, she thought Brian would say she didnât need to.
But he didnât. Instead, he just got up and left. That meant that Brian felt that she should apologize to Grace.
After Louise had eaten, she knocked on Graceâs door.
âMiss Adkins, whatâs the matter?â Grace asked.
Louise scanned Graceâs room and asked, âCan I come in?â
Grace was stunned and said, âMiss Adkins can come in if you donât mind my humble abode.â
âGrace, Iâm sorryâ
Louise walked into the room, looking at Grace with a guilty face.
Grace didnât know why Louise suddenly said that. Grace asked, âMiss Adkins, whatâs wrong with you?â
âItâs all my fault for letting you go and help with the renovation. I didnât expect to almost hurt you!â
Louise said guiltily, taking Graceâs hand.
Grace was stunned. âShe must have learned this from Brian, right?
âDid she come over to apologize herself, or did Brian tell her to come?â Grace thought, Graceâs thoughts were a little complicated. âWhy did Brian mention this to Louise? Doesnât he love Louise very much? Doesnât telling her all this add to her psychological pressure?â Grace thought.
Grace found she couldnât understand Brian anymore. Brian acting like this made her think that he still cared for her just a little bit.
This assumption only brought Grace more pain.
âGrace, why donât you speak? Are you still blaming me?â Louise asked.
Grace returned to her senses and said, âNo, I donât blame you. Itâs the workerâs problem. Itâs not your fault.â
âYou donât blame me? Thatâs great!â Louise sniffed and hugged Grace gently. The expression on Louiseâs face turned sinister where Grace didnât see it.
Louiseâs hug made Grace feel uncomfortable. Thankfully, Louise let go of her after a while.
& MM M âBy the way, Grace, I heard Brian say that you were recommended by a distant relative of his, right?â
After Louise said this, she stared at Graceâs face intently, not missing a single expression.
Grace was slightly stunned momentarily and then sald calmly, âWell, yes. Whatâs wrong?â
Louiseâs heart sank.
âBrian lied to me! Louise thought.
42% 20:14 âItâs nothing. I just thought that since youâll be leaving in a little more than two months, Iâm quite reluctant to part with you.â
Grace thought Louise was acting a little strange but couldnât pinpoint what was odd about Louise.
Louise didnât sit long before leaving. Closing the door, Louiseâs face went completely cold.
âDammit! Which worker wanted to molest her? If you dare to do it, why donât you finish the job? So useless!â Louise thought.
Louise stared at the door hatefully.
âGrace, we could have been fine with each other, but you dared to seduce my man. From today onwards, I will make you. beg for death!*
The next day. Louise went out early in the morning. Melvin said that she went back to the Adkins family.
Marshall was not at home. Only Ava and her mother were home, so Avaâs attitude worsened when she saw Louise come home.
âLouise, what are you doing here? You bastard child!â Ava exclaimed, Shannon tugged at Avaâs clothes and motioned for her not to talk nonsense. Ava became even more angry and said, âMom, look at her. Sheâs like a vixen. Sheâs that womanâs child. Donât you hate her?â
Louise didnât seem to take Avaâs hostility to heart and said sincerely, âAva, we are a family. Donât worry.
I wonât covet what belongs to you.â
When Shannon saw that Louise was able to say this, the more she felt Ava was being unreasonable.
Shannon said, âAva, you should learn from Louise! Donât curse at people all the time. As a young ladyâ¦â
âMom!â Ava was furious. She demanded, âWhy are you helping her? Am I your daughter, or is she?â
âYouâ¦â
Louise hurriedly stepped forward to smooth things over. Louise said, âItâs okay, Mom. Donât fight because of me.â
âWho are you calling âMom? She is my mom!â Ava shouted.
âIâm sorry. I havenât had a mother since I was a child. If you donât like it, Iâll call her Shannon in the future.â Louise bit her lip, her tone a little aggrieved.
Ava rolled her eyes.
Shannon, beside her, said to Louise, âItâs okay. Ignore her.â
Louise smiled slightly and said kindly, âAva, I came this time to ask you If you would like to come over to Brianâs house and stay with me for a while?â
