Chapter 35
Falling for My Contractual Wife
Ava slept until two oâclock, and right on time, she went to wake up Grace with a holler.
Grace walked out of the room and looked at Ava with a blank face. âMiss Adkins, what are your orders?â
âI want to drink coffee. Make me a pot of it and serve passion fruit on the side,â Ava said.
After Ava finished speaking, she sat under the parasol in the courtyard, closing her eyes comfortably.
Louise sat next to her, and the two chatted together.
After a while, Grace finished brewing the coffee, served it on a tray, and came to the courtyard.
Louise glanced sideways at Grace, her eyes flickering, and her feet moved as Grace passed her.
Grace tripped over something, and her body threw itself forward.
âAh!â
The hot coffee pot shattered, and the coffee splashed on Graceâs arm, causing her to gasp.
Ava also shrieked in surprise and reflexively jumped to her feet.
Grace glanced at her stomach. Luckily, this was the lawn, so it shouldnât hurt Graceâs belly.
Grace had just gotten up from the ground when the next second, there was a sharp sound of a slap landing on her cheek.
Grace blinked, turned her head, and looked at Ava.
Ava said, acting high and mighty, âWho are you glaring at? I hit youâ¦ah!â
There was another sound of a slap.
Grace slapped Ava back without hesitation and looked at Ava coldly. âMiss Adkins! You have no right to hit me!â
Ava came back to her senses after a while, covering her cheek and looking at Grace in disbelief. âYou slut! You dare to hit me! I will tear you to pieces today!â
At this moment, Melvin, who came rushing when he heard the ruckus, quickly stopped Ava. âMiss Adkins, please calm down. Iâll have someone brew another pot for you, okay?â
Avaâs eyes reddened in anger. âGet out of my way! A maid of your Francis family dared to hit me! Why arenât you punishing her?â
Melvin pulled Grace behind him, protecting her, and said to Ava, âMiss Adkins, since her service isnât very good, Iâll let someone else serve you, okay?â
âNo!* Ava said arrogantly. âI want her to serve me!â
Melvin didnât know what to do. Although Graceâs identity was unspeakable, she was still Mrs. Francis. If something were to happen to her, Melvin didnât know how to explain it to Brian.
d d M M Grace patted Melvinâs arm. âMelvin, Iâm fine.â
M * UN 41% 20:14 She stepped out from behind Melvin and looked at Ava. âMiss Adkins, what else do you want me to do?â
Ava glanced down at her white shoes, which were dirtied by the coffee. Ava frowned in disgust. âWash my shoes!â
Ava sat down as if she wanted Grace to take it off herself.
Grace walked over and crouched as far as her hands could reach, quickly took off Avaâs shoes and left with them. Grace went to the laundry room and threw the shoes on the floor.
Grace had been in a bad mood for the past two days. This Ava is making a big fuss of nothing, Grace thought.
Grace wasnât afraid of Ava. Although Ava was Louiseâs sister, it had nothing to do with Grace. Besides, Ava was from the Adkins family. For Louiseâs sake, Grace served Ava, which was giving her enough respect.
If Ava wanted to hit her, Grace would never tolerate it.
Even if Brian got mad at her because of this, Grace felt she was justified in how she acted. Grace didnât bully Louise, so Brian couldnât break the contract because of it.
Grace looked at the shoes on the ground. Suddenly, she had a mischievous thought. She threw the shoes under the faucet and turned the water up to the highest setting, washing away the debris from the surface.
The shoes werenât dirty. There was nothing to wash.
Grace took the wet shoes to the backyard to dry and went back to rest.
