Chapter 51
Falling for My Contractual Wife
âWho exactly is Grace?â Louise approached Melvin and questioned fiercely.
Melvin regained his composure and said expressionlessly. âSheâs a maid of the Francis family.â
âSince sheâs a maid, why did you take special care of her? Why did you call Brian the moment something happened to her? If you didnât see me last night, you would have told Brian about Grace fainting from heatstroke, right?â
Melvin secretly took a deep breath, not knowing how to explain.
âWhy did you call Brian? It was because you knew Brian would hurry back immediately if Grace were in trouble. He cares about Grace. Grace is his mistress! Am I right?â
Melvin lowered his head and said, âMiss Adkins, youâre reading too much into it. Mr. Brian treats you so well. Youâre Mr. Brianâs fiancée. If you think this way, heâll be sad.â
Louise sneered. âYou still know that Iâm his fiancée? I donât think you respect me at all. Youâve tried to go against me time and time again.â
Melvin lowered his head even more. âI wouldnât dare.â
Louise took a deep breath and softened her tone. âMelvin, you donât have to do this. I only hope you can understand that Iâm the future Mrs. Francis of this family. As a servant who has worked here for six years, you should know that a wise man submits to circumstances. Do you think any woman would tolerate a maid having designs on her husband?â
Louise held Melvinâs arm and made him look up. She continued, âMelvin, if you still want to stay in the Francis family, youâd better not interfere in anything I do in the future, especially regarding Grace.â
Melvin was silent with a grim expression.
âYou still wonât tell me the identity of Grace, right? Or was I right just now?â
âMiss Adkins, Grace is indeed a maid of the Francis family. If you donât believe me, yo n ask Mr. Brian.â
Louise snorted coldly. âYouâre obstinate! By the way, Iâm warning you. If Brian learns about Graceâs arrest, youâre the only one who could have snitched.â
With that, Louise turned around and left.
Melvin glanced at the phone screen. In the end, he sighed deeply and put his phone away, Grace was dragged to the police station and detained in the interrogation room.
The police questioned her. Seeing that she was not in a good state of mind, they gave her a bottle of glucose.
Grace still felt lightâheaded. She could barely hear what the two people in front of her were saying.
Suddenly, her vision darkened, and she passed out on the table.
âIs she sick?â
âYou go and take a look.â
The other police officer came over and patted Graceâs face. âShe seems to have a fever!â
âGet a doctor here right away.â
ศ LUL 12.10 Grace was brought into a small room in the infirmary. While Grace was lying on the bed, a female doctor came over and removed the gauze on Graceâs head.
âItâs a fever caused by a worsening wound and inflammation.â
herw The doctor examined her wound and tutted. âWhat is this person doing? Did she apply loose powder to the wound?â
The female doctor cleaned Graceâs wound again. After bandaging it, she prepared to give Grace an intravenous injection.
A sharp pain came from the back of Graceâs hand. Grace slowly woke up. She looked at the medicine bottle above her and sat up in a panic. She pulled out the needle.
The doctor looked at her in shock. âWhat are you doing? Do you know that youâre sick? Your wound is already inflamed, and your fever is 101.3 degrees Fahrenheit. I have to give you an antiâinflammatory injection and fever medicine immediately!â
