Chapter thirty-nine

I want you close

War

For five days, I was not able to sleep, but I kept forcing myself to because I couldn't spend the night thinking about Clyde anymore. It was scary, all the scenarios I made up.

Deborah thought I was crazy for worrying about him. "He is Clyde!" As she would say.

"I can't belive someone cares about him as much as you do." She had said.

"Why?"

"Don't get me wrong, I care about him, Derious and father does too. But it has been a long time since people other than our family cared about him." She'd explained, "after our mother left, no one was able to care about him because of the way he had become."

"He is a nice guy." I had said,"and I do care about him so much. And whomever doesn't, does not deserve him."

This morning I woke out by the sound of the front doors opening, Deborah jumbled from where she sleped and pulled her knife out.

"Relax!" I said. "It might be Clyde."

"Even better," she had a mischievous smile on her face.

As I expected, it was him. I ran to hug him before he even saw me, but I was stopped by Doberah who attached me and placed a knife on his neck just like she did to me. I gasped, "hey!" What is wrong with her?

Clyde turned her over and placed her own knife on her neck, "Clyde!" I spoke. He looked at me, smiled then looked back at her with an emotionless face.

"Deborah," he said.

"Clyde," she said, using the same tone.

Then they burst out laughing and hugged each other after he helped her up and handed her her knife back.

"What was that?" I asked, still frightened.

"That was Clyde and Deborah" Willie wisphered to me, "they have to do such a show every time they see each other."

"Oh," I nodded then immediately came back to reality and rushed to Clyde and have him a hug. "Are you okay?" I checked on him.

He held my hand, calming me down. "Relax," he said, "everything is fine." I bunched his shoulder harshly, "ow!"

"Why the hell did you take that long?" I asked,"five days? Why did you not send someone to inform me that you are okay?"

"I am sorry," he said."I just had so much going on" he threw his hand around my shoulder and led me to the sofa, "I am here now, aren't I?"

I nodded."So," is poke softly as I laid my head on his shoulder. "What's happening out there?"

"Nothing yet," he said. "We do not know what the salona plans. We will have to wait and see."

I inhaled deep as I closed my eyes, his scent relaxed me. I miss having him around even though it has only been five days, it felt like months.

"Listen up love birds," Deborah said as she sat next to us. "Since you will be staying at my place, there are rules."

"It is not your place." Clyde said, I say up close since I could scenes another fight.

"Yes it is," she said."I have been living here have I not?" Before Clyde could speak, she talked again, "Don't show us your affection No-"

Clyde turned to me, leaned close, smiled then kissed me. I was going to back away, but he kissed me deeply that I could not remember my name. When he backed away, about fifteen seconds later, I took a deep breath "Woah"

He chuckled then drew me closer to him.

"What did I just say!" Deborah said firmly. "Ugh" she got up and headed to her room, "at least don't be loud at night"

"we do not-" I stopped talking as my cheeks heated.

Soon the door was being knocked. Clyde opened it and we saw one of his guards

"They bombed Eleanor's castle," he informed, I placed my hand on my mouth, I did not think I would be as affected as I am right now. "Do you still want us to send our letters to salona for peace?"

"No," Clyde said firmly. "they want war? We will give them war."
