Chapter fourty-two

Lesson one

Clyde's point of view

She fell asleep and I felt as if my whole world is between my arms. She believes I am trust worthy, and now it is my job to protect her. I won't let anything happen to her. In this moment, feeling her heart beats against mine, her steady breathing, no worry goes through my mind. The kingdom might be at war, yet, my heart is at peace.

I pulled her close to me, if that was even possible and hugged her tight until sleep stole me from looking at her beautiful features.

The next morning when i woke up, she was still asleep. I did not want to wake her, so i planted a kiss on her forehead softly before I slowly pushed her gently to the other side if the bed and got up.

After I washed up, I went to the kitchen to make us some pancakes before she wakes up. To be honest, I wanted to do anything just to stop thinking about the outside world, because if I don't, I will go out there. I don't want to since I promised her.

So, all I can do is wait for the guards to come by everyday to fill me in.

"Hm, What's that smell?" I heard the loveliest voice from behind me, then I felt her arms wrap around me as I flipped the pancake.

I tilted my head back, and gave her a kiss of the check. "Good morning beautiful," I said, she grinned. "I thought I would make us some pancakes"

"Good thought," she said as she hugged me tighter before letting go and sat on the counter.

After I was done, I placed them in a plate and stood between her legs and squeezed her thigh gently. "Also, I will be giving you your first lesson today."

"Lesson?" She asked, "what lesson?"

"Since it's not safe outside, because of everything that's going on. I think it's smart to teach you how to fight, defend yourself or use a weapon."

"I don't want to use a weapon," she said. "just the defend myself part sounds nice."

"I know," I said as I brushed her hair behind her ear. "But you have to learn a bit, I am not saying you will use it on someone, I will not let that happen as long as I am with you. But, I need to make sure that you can use them in times of need, if I am not there."

"Don't say that-" she said, looking at me deep in my eyes, as if the thought is too much to bare.

I took a deep breath, "please Eleanor, for me" I said. "Just to keep you safe."

She looked down at our now intertwined hands and took a inhaled before nodding.

I cupped her face and gave her a quick kiss, "now," I smiled at her wide, go change the mood. "Let enjoy some pancakes, shall we?"

She nodded Eagerly before jumping off the counter, "Yes please!"

"Hm," I smiled at her as she did the exact same thing I did at the hill, putting the Nutella and banana. "Leaning from the best I see" she knocked her shoulder in mine as she chuckled.

As we sat down to eat, a knock was heard from the front door. I rushed to it impatient to receive any news. I opened the door and saw mark.

"Your father is safe south, and so is Alicia and her mother." He informed, "but your brother is still in town, and he is determined to fight."

I cursed and my breath and looked at Eleanor, she shock her head no. But I do not think I could hold onto that promise anymore.

"What is it looking out there?"

"Bad," he answered. "Really bad."

"Alright, thank you." I said, "make sure to keep me up to date"

"Yes sir," he nodded and bowed slightly before Walking away then I closed the door.

"Clyde," she spoke softly as she held my face firmly like I will disappear. "It is his choice, you do not have to fight too."

I nodded and shoved her hands away gently, but I could see the hurt in her face.

I can't let him fight alone, I will go and there is nothing will change my mind. I will stay for five days, just to make sure she is capable on her own then I will be on my way.

That afternoon, I took her outside and taught her some moves to defend herself. And tomorrow, I will be teaching her how to use a sword, and then a bow. I will also make sure Deborah teaches her how to use a knife, since she is incredible at it.

Later that night, she walked to her room since she kept yawning and I suggested for her to get some sleep. "Nope," I said as I wrapped my arms around her waist and carried her to the other direction.

She giggled, "what?"

"Do you really think I will be able to sleep without your soft cuddles ever again?" I asked as I placed her back down and held her close to me as we headed to the room I am as staying in. "I won't ever allow you sleeping away, not even one room away," I paused. "Unliss you don't want to?"

She tilted her head up to look at me, tip-toed to place a quick kiss on my neck. "Of course I want to"

"good," I said, grinning."I wouldn't have taken no for an answer." She furrowed her eyebrows at me then walked into the room before me. As she pulled away from me, I felt something was missing. I do not know what this girl has done to me but- I don't ever want to be away, not for a second. I inhaled her scent deeply as she snuggled close to me.
