Chapter 2- Little Bit of Love

Best Friends with the Player

Chapter 2 - Little Bit of Love

I'm at my locker putting all my stuff away to end my day and go home. I'm tired and a bit grumpy; I had just gotten a report to do that was to be a six page paper about famous authors in history, which meant I'm going to have to write about something really stupid, and really boring; and then probably help Asher write his too. I usually don't tend to complain about school and assignments, I just take them and do them because most of the time it's no problem. But it's totally unfair if a teacher assigns one during the middle of the week and expects it due by the end of the week.

I slam my locker shut, turning around to find Asher leaning against the other lockers. "Hello my gorgeous best friend. How was your day?" He asked, kissing my forehead. I narrowed my eyes at him suspiciously, but thought no more of his cheer attitude. Someone had a really good day, who banged him in the bathroom? He's usually not this cheery by the end of the day.

I sigh loudly, as he offers to carry my books. We head out of the school, walking slowly as I explain about my miserable day. "For starters, I have a six page paper to write for English, I still have to study for physics, and on top of all that, I have homework for every class, and I've got a massive headache," I complain, leaning my head against his arm. "I thought people said senior year is easy. I don't see me getting any sleep tonight."

"Aw, I'm sorry you had a miserable day," He said, kissing the top of my head again.

"No you aren't," I murmured.

"No, I'm not," He chuckles. I looked at him and stuck my tongue out. I spot his car and start walking to it, but he spins me around to face him.

"Um, Kimmy, I've got practice." Asher scrunches up his face, looking like he was regretting saying that to me. Asher is always my ride to and from school. Usually I didn't mind staying with him at practice because I become so bored that I'm forced to do homework because there's nothing better to do. Today is just not one of those day.

"Ugh, I completely forgot!" I whined, face palming myself. All I want to do is go home, take some Advil, possibly a nap, and cram in all my homework that is to be done by the end of the night. Mostly I want Advil and a nap, and the metal bleachers aren't a place to take naps.

"Sorry, but I have some Advil and you can do your homework while you wait like you always do," He reminds me.

Good enough deal. I'm defiantly not going to walk home."Fine. Want to give me piggy back ride there," I asked sweetly batting my eyelashes.

"Hey what's this here?" He asks sarcastically poking at my legs, "Oh yeah, functioning legs to walk on. You should use them." I gave him... the smoldering look. Mine is more attractive than Flynn's in Tangled though. "Ugh, fine. Jump on," He mumbled, bending down in defeat so I could get on with ease. Ash has his puppy dog look I can't resist, I have mastered the adorable smoldering look.

I giggle, hopping on his back, twining my hands around his neck and hitching my legs around his waist. I feel kind of bad that he's caring my body weight plus my books, but he's strong enough to carry all this. He is a football player for Christ's sakes, the linebacker are heavier to tackle than me!

"Come on, Knight, pick up the pace. Think of this as a pre-warm up before practice. Move it, move it," I ordered, shouting in his ear being a little encouraging.

He scoffed, "You're kidding me right?"

"Does this look like a kidding face to you? Now movie it, come on pick up those legs!" I coach, hiding the smile on my face that shows I'm kidding, but he can't see it so he believes I'm serious.

"Literally, you are the pain in my ass," He complained, speed walking to the field.

"Maybe tomorrow I'll just bring extra books. Then you'll understand pain!" I laughed, joking with him; I would be one damn good coach. We both start laughing as he crosses the field and sets me on the bleachers. He places my books near me, and messes up my hair before jogging off to the locker rooms."You're weak Knight! Slacking off! Got to lay off the Doritos!" I teased shouting at him.

"You've influenced me to be a lazy potato sack!" He laughed before heading into the building. I'm noting close to a lazy potato sack.

I laughed to myself, picking up my math textbook and starting some equations. I was done with my twenty problems when the guys had just finished doing warm ups. And let me tell you this, it's not a pretty sight to watch; boys are so inflexible! Their groaning makes me feel uncomfortable.

I pick up my physics crap and start working on whatever we were learning. I suck at physics, and I don't even know what I'm doing on my homework. Surprisingly, Ash is really good at science. Usually I just copy him or he tutors me. But it mostly involves me copying him and I can do that because he practically does it with all my homework's that I finish.

I was still stuck on the first question when someone came up from behind me, quietly, talking to me, "That one is wrong. The correct answer is conjugate acid," a husky voice corrected me.

I turned around quickly finding the sexy god sitting behind me. That's right, you know who I'm talking about, Spencer Gray! I stare at him in shock. Is he talking to me? I start my nonsense rambling that makes me look like an idiot. "OH...Uhh... Yeah... Um- Uh Thanks... I knew that, Psh," Stupid Kimberly! I thought, mentally slapping myself.

He chuckles at my rambling. His laugh is so sexy, I thought I died and went to heaven! I smile worriedly, feeling a blush forming on my face. "I'm sure you did. You need help with the next one?" He offers.

Oh my God! This is legit the longest conversation we've ever had! Never mind that this was the first time we've ever talked since September 30th at 1:47 PM! "Yeah- yeah. Sure. Umm..."

He took a seat next to me, taking my book off my lap. Oh myGod! He's touching my book! "Well, number two is easy. It's just asking about the string theory," He shrugs, looking at me for an answer.

My brain froze and not one thought passed through, "Oh, um, yeah. Isn't it like, that theory, you know the one about, uh-"

"A theory that units all of the four forces of nature," He said in the kindest way.

"OH, duh. Haha, yeah, you're good at this," I said nervously. Oh no, why did I say that?! Now I probably sound desperate.

"Thanks. Ready for the next one?" He offered.

I nod my head eagerly. He's so charming, and it's starting to get really hard for me to actually pay attention to the work. I couldn't stop starting at his lips moving. They look so soft, gentle, and warm and his hazel green eyes are mesmerizing!

I feel pretty stupid sitting next to him and getting half- or most, OK all- the questions wrong. Spencer knows physics like it's a sixth sense! It came so naturally and easy to him, unlike me. To me, it sounded like a foreign language. Surprisingly, we finished it really quickly- well quicker than I would have finished it even though there were only ten problems. But by the time we were done with physics I hadn't bothered to continue with my other homework because Spencer was still talking to me! Asher jogged over to us half way through a story Spencer was telling me, I almost forgot that we were at a football field.

"And then the soup blew up! All over the counter, the stove, the floor. I swore to myself that that was going to be the last time I cook." Spencer concluded, shaking his head.

I laughed so hard that my sides started to hurt. Who in their right mind would put baking soda in soup! That's a first I've ever heard. My laugh was uncontrollable. "Oh my God, Spencer that's hilarious! What did-AAAHHHH!!"

I was suddenly lifted from the bleachers and being spun around in rapid circles. My hair was flying all around my face, and I was up high off the ground. "AAAHHH PUT ME DOWN!" I screamed.I heard the familiar laugh that I've been hearing for the past eleven years cover my epic screaming. "ASHER!" I screamed over his laugh. "This isn't funny! Put me down! And you smell too! "Now I couldn't help but laugh slightly as he laughed even harder. Oh my god, I think I'm going to be sick... Too....dizzy.

Asher finally set me down on my two feet, but it's useless because I totally lost all balance, falling on my ass on the hard, moist, gushy grass. If this is payback for dropping that textbook on his foot then I'm so going to get him back. This is war buddy.

"Haha who's laughing now!" Asher teased.

He took one step closer to only fall to the ground next to me, probably forgetting that he was spinning around too. I laugh at his face pointing, "Apparently me now! Ha-Ha," I corrected.

After both of us got our balances back, and stopped seeing three of everything upside down, Asher helps me up, pulling me too close to his chest."Why is Spencer hanging out with you?" he asked quietly, directing with his eyes.

I blushed, smiling wildly, and then saw that he was still there watching. "OH! Spencer," I said walking back to him.

"Hey- Whoa don't get too close in case you puke," He joked, making an X with his fingers.

I laughed pushing his- warm but rough- hands away. "I'm fine, silly. I was just going to say thanks for helping me with physics."

"Anytime," he said, showing me his 100% perfect sexy smile.

"Hey, you ready to go?" Asher interrupted, slinging his arm over my shoulder and kissing my temple.

"I'll see you around, Kim," Spencer waved, walking away. If it isn't too noticeable already, I could see he looks uncomfortable with Ash around me, practically flirting his ass off. The kid will do anything to keep a guy away from me.

"Bye! Yeah see ya- oh and thanks for the help!" I waved anxiously. Did I already say thanks?

I looked over to Ash with a scowl. How dare he ruin moment with my Spencer! He practically scared him off! He smirked at Spencer walking away. Then, he looks at my face and he drops his smirk as I caught him guilty. "What?" He asks innocently.

I shook my head, picking up all my books and stuffing them into my bag. "Ready to leave?" I asked sourly, making a face. I couldn't believe he'd do this. I'm sure he's well aware that I have a crush on Spencer. It's not like I hold back and it's not like Asher's stupid to notice it.

"What did I do wrong this time? And what do you mean by 'thanks for the help?'" He asks a bit annoyed, crossing his arms.

"Nothing, Asher, you never do anything wrong," I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes.

"Good. I didn't think so. Now what 'help' did he give you?" I swear sometimes I think he ignores my sarcasm just to annoy me.

"He helped me with my physics homework," I said as we walked to his car.

"Why did he help? I usually help you with physics!" He said, sounding defensive.

I did notice that he looked a bit sad as he drove away from the school. He would always claim that it was his "duty" to help me in physics. I think that it's always an excuse to stay out of his house with his younger twin sisters. Though he loves them deeply, Asher is too much of a guy to play with dolls and color.

I sighed deeply, feeling sorry, but not too sorry. I'm really happy that I had a momentwith Spencer. But I know that most times, Asher is excited to help me with science. Maybe it was because it's the only subject I suck in and he didn't. "I'm sorry. Spencer was there and he offered to help. I didn't know this is such a big deal to you," I explained to Ash.

"Forget it. I don't care, one less thing for me to do," He mumbled to himself, angrily.

He parked his car on the curb in front of my house, letting the engine run. I collected my stuff and opened the door, turning back to look at him before I got out of the car." You coming in?" I asked, with a pleading smile. He always came in no matter what time of the day it was, usually to wipe out the food in my house or "help" him do his homework.

"Nope," he said popping the P, anger clouding his voice.

"Someone's on their period," I sang softly, but only loud enough for him to hear. I saw his lips hold back a smile as he stared at the open road ahead. "Come on... You know you want to come in. I'll make your favorite..." I persuaded kissing his cheek as I got out of the car. I knew now that he was like sand in my hands.

This is one of the things I love about Ash. No matter how angry he may seem, he always forgives me quickly. Even if he's pissed at the world, he always seems to smile when I'm around. Or whenever I mentionmaking his favorite dessert, it's like its Christmas Day.

"Chocolate and peanut butter chip fudge brownies?!" He snapped, turning his head to me.

"Yep," I smiled popping the P as I walked away. And in 5...4...3...2...1-

"Fine, I guess I can come in for a few minutes," He said, cutting the engine, hopping out of the car, coming up behind me and pushing me quicker to the door.

I laugh, walking inside and throwing my stuff down before rushing to the kitchen to make Ash's brownies so we can have them while we do our homework. Correction: while I do both of our assignments.
