Chapter Ten: Date

When Ashley and Jen came back I immediately told them about my plans. They offered to help me so that's how I ended up in Jen's bedroom trying on outfits.

"Okay since you're staying in the house I was thinking this," Jen says showing me an outfit. It's a pair of black leggings a white blouse with some black flats. "What do you think?" She asks

"I like it," I say with a smile.She hands me the outfit and I go and change.

"You look beautiful," Ashley says when I come out.

"Thank you," I say sincerely. As Ashley is helping me do my hair my thoughts are racing. I'm so nervous what if I mess this up. I don't know what to do on a date. "I'm nervous what do you do on a date?" I ask them

"Get to know each other more, I've known Adam a long time, he'll be great for you," Ashley replies.

"Don't be nervous, just be yourself and you'll be fine," Jen assures.

"Okay, but I'll still be nervous," I say with a small laugh.

"You're gonna be fine," They both say. Jen helps me do my makeup, she keeps it natural which I'm thankful for.

Adam's coming over in about 30 minutes, the house is now empty but they assured me that they will be in hearing range until Adam gets here. Now I'll I have to do is breathe. Adam isn't a stranger I don't need to be nervous. The doorbell rings and I take a deep breath. I open the and Adam is standing there in a black sweater and jeans.

"Hey," I say pushing through my nerves.

"Hey love can I come in?" He asks. I nod and he comes through the door leaving his shoes on the mat.

"You look beautiful," He says, causing me to blush as he gives me a kiss on the forehead. He chuckles when he sees the redness in my cheeks, then lays what he has in his hands on the counter.

"I talked to your mom, she said you loved Chicken Alfredo so, I made you my family recipe," He says showing me the baking dish full of Alfredo.

"Thank you!" I say excitedly, He plates us both a plate of food and then we go over to the couch.

"So tell me more about you," He says

"Well I like science and I love helping people,"

"Okay what about your style when did you start dressing bold?" He asks and I laugh.

"I've always dressed like that, when I was little my parents gave me freedom when it came to my style so that's what I gravitated to," I explain

"Cool, any questions for me?"

"How did you die?" I ask hesitantly

"Rose and I when we were 17 and 18, we got sick and our mother wanted to save us from dying so she met a woman who turned us,"

"Did it hurt?" I ask

"No, the only thing I remember is her telling us to drink a red drink which was her blood, then she told us to close our eyes and then it was just darkness," He explains

"Wouldn't the blood heal you?"

"We were to far gone we would have died anyway," He tells me. We ask each other questions for the next hour and we also finish eating.

"What do you want to do now?" I ask

"What about TV?" He suggests

"Okay," I say and grab the remote before sitting next to him on the couch. Being over 250 means that Adam doesn't know about much TV. I end up picking a comedy. About halfway through we end up cuddling.

"You comfy?" He asks and I nod. I lay my head on his shoulder as he pulls me closer. We stay like this for a while and for the first time in a long time, I feel safe. "Megan?" Adam asks, I look up at him with a content smile.

"I know it's our first date so you don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but will be my girlfriend?" He asks. Am I ready to have a boyfriend? Adam's a good guy. I shouldn't be afraid he would never hurt me.

"Yes, I'll be your girlfriend," I say and he smiles. He kisses me on the cheek. We sit on the couch for a while before I start to get tired. I let out an involuntary yawn and Adam laughs lightly.

"Tired little one?" He asks

"No," I respond

"You sure?" He asks

"Yeah," I see sleepily

"Do you want to go to bed?" He asks

"Fine," I agree

I feel him pick me up in his arms and carry me to my bedroom.

"Change into something more comfortable and call out when you're ready," He says closing the door behind him when he walks out. I manage to get myself up and dressed in some pyjamas. I take off my makeup and brush my teeth.

"You can come in," I say as I'm getting underneath the covers. He comes in and I give him a small smile.

"I have to stay until the pack gets back, I can stay out on the couch if you want," He tells me.

"You can stay," I tell him and he sits in the chair in the corner of the room. I roll over on my side and try and fall asleep but my thoughts are racing. I toss and turn but I can't seem to relax.

"Are you okay?" Adam whispers when he realizes that I'm restless.

"I don't know why I can't sleep," I tell him. He comes over to the bed.

"May I?" He asks and I nod, He gets in the bed next to me.

"Come here," He says motioning to move over. He takes me in his arms and I lay down on his chest.

"Here we are again huh," I say and he laughs.

"Here we are again, but I like this better no  vampire attacks needed," I smile and try to fall asleep. After about 2 minutes I still can't. "Do you want a bedtime story?" He asks.

"What kind of story?" I ask

"A special one," He says and puts his hand around my necklace.

"You want to hypnotize me?" I ask.

"I'll be gentle, but I'll only do it if you want me to,"

"How does it work?"

"Once I start I'll tell you just to listen to my voice and as you listen you'll get tired also throughout the story I'll say different words that will make you sleep,"

"I'm guessing that's not how you do it when you feed?" I ask

"No, with feeding we can  be more direct but I like to do it gently went I want to make people sleep,"

"Like with my dad and Alexis?" He nods.

"Okay," I agree now that he's explained it. He gently takes off my necklace and lays it down on the nightstand.

"Okay sweetheart I'm gonna start now, when you're ready you just close your eyes," I nod softly and try and relax as much as possible. "Just listen to my voice sweetheart, your getting tired and you can't help but relax as you listen to my voice," "Once upon a time there was a beautiful young lady. She had blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. One day she met a young man in the woods when he saved her from a mean monster," "The monster attack made her really tired and all she wanted to do is sleep," "But she was scared, the young man reassured her however that she would be okay and she could sleep,"My body is really heavy and I just want to close my eyes."Close your eyes sweetheart," He says softly.

"Don't want to be alone," I manage to say, my voice thick with sleep.

"You won't be, I'm staying until the pack gets home,"

"You won't be here when I wake up, will you?"

"No, but we'll see each other soon,"

"Sorry for falling asleep,"

"Don't be, its late and you've had a long day,"

I feel a kiss on my forehead and then my body and my mind fall into peaceful darkness.
