Keep going Ch 10
What makes a Master Merchant
Their steps were slower than usual. Kaga couldn't help but concentrate on the panting beside him. The face was hidden by the mask and the mouth was neutral, but she couldn't hide the irregular pained breaths.
"Maybe we should leave out today, we can coma another time."
"No...we have to...follow the plan...Ray help me...freeze up my nose..."
"Ray thinks it will get worse if we freeze it."
"It's fine...just do it..."
The white snake wiggled up on her arm and slightly moved underneath the mask. Kaga could feel a sudden chill from the snake. He didnât know snakes could use ice this freely.
"Ray thinks it's done."
"How can you freeze up the blood flow from the nose?"
"Ray just freezes up the airways so the blood will flow down the throat, not out the nose."
"Isn't that hurting the nose too much?"
"Well yeah, but Dime doesnât really have a no-"
"I think thatâs enough for now Ray!"
"Yes, Ray is sorry."
-What was that the snake wanted to say?
Kaga's mind was full of confusion. What is that she doesnât have. How can they have her nose in a block of ice? Dime wasnât going to give further explanation.
In the commander office Luca stood with cold sweat on his forehead. He was out on mission in the morning but failed. Now he waited to be punished.
âWhat youâre saying is that every information guild you went to asked for money, then told you they canât disclose the information?â
âYes Sir. I am ashamed of myself for letting others take the Commanderâs money so shamelessly.â
âNo, this is very valuable information.â
Luca just stared at him confused, as Commander Kusneu scratched his beard and tapped his finger.
âIt means⦠that she is a VIP in the information guild. Her status id so high that even the fact that they acknowledge her existence costs a pretty penny. But why is she sniffing around here then? We are notoriously under founded, what could she gain from us?â
âIâm sorry to disturb you but they are here again.â
âJust as I thought they came again. Hmm?â
âWhat is it Sir?â
Commander knitted his eyebrows and clenched his jaw. Luca couldnât imagine what kind of thing made the usually stone-faced Commander react this way.

âI have to take a closer look to make sureâ¦â
They hurriedly climbed down the staircase and took a turn to the training grounds. The duo came empty handed again so the soldiers were bringing them weapons. This time Dime picked a bow and Kaga took the dagger.
The Commander was silently observing them with sharp eyes.
âWhat did you see Commander?â
âThe womanâs energy became more twisted. I donât know how she managed to make it swirl faster in just a day, but it must be quite painful. Itâs a miracle she doesnât roll over screaming.â
Luca was shocked by his words he didnât notice any difference from yesterday, but he of course believed his superior. He was close to becoming a Master so he must notice smaller changes.
Dime was firing the bow without stopping. Her face like an iceberg didnât flinch nor grimaced. She again hit the same spot over and over again but as it was much more obvious with an arrow, many soldiers gathered around her to analyze her technique, but what they found was a sloppy stance, a lose bow and a masked woman.
âMy Lady, I think itâs time to go home.â
âYouâre right we shall return tomo-â
âWe wonât be holding open training for a week. So donât bother coming.â
The Commander stepped out of the shadows.
âAnd can we schedule a different visit?â
âSureâ¦send me a letter before coming.â
âBut of course.â
Dime grinned at him, then turned around with Kaga and left. When they were in a good distance Ray melted the ice and a river of blood flooded Dimeâs chin.
âSomeone is following us.â
âI know. Follow me, we will lose him soon, but donât make him obvious that we noticed him.â
Kaga nodded and swiftly followed the red locks trail. Luca couldnât keep up with them, few people knew the city as much as the masked woman did.
âLetâs go home, Iâm tired.â
âSure.â
As the entrance of the mansion closed behind them Dime nearly collapsed.
"Sweet mana! You look awful!"
Tealla nearly chocked as he saw the redhead woman staggering inside.
"It's...not that bad...huu...as it looks..."
"Yeah sure...Do you need anything or are you going to Mira's room as usual?"
"Just...some soup...if you have any..."
"I will make a heathy soup for you just wait. Kaga please bring the Lady to Mira."
"Can she treat her?"
"Ha of course not, she has no limbs. But for some reason Dime becomes much calmer when she is with her. She usually gets through the last day in her room."
"Looks like it happens a lot."
"Well yeah, every month."
Tealla casted his gaze to the floor signaling that he didnât want to talk about it anymore. Kaga didnât ask more just brought Dime upstairs. He could hear the clinging of utensils as Tealla hurriedly started cooking. He couldn't see Mathilda anywhere, so he went straight to Mira's room.
"Ray is here, Ray will stay with Dime. Kaga can calm down."
-Everyone is so calm about the situation when she looks like a dying patient. Just can't understand.
As he opened the door Mira looked totally indifferent, like she just saw a passerby.
"You can put her on the bed. I will take care of her from now on. Tealla will bring some soup right? You can do what you want until tomorrow midnight."
With some rods wrapped to her stubs she pushed her wheelchair to the bed. Kaga put down the wheezing woman and stood there a few seconds before he left.
Mira gotten closer to Dime and Ray so she can put one of her stubs on her head. Her touch was so gentle like feather.
"Master, you can do it, it will pass soon."
"Haaa...ghaaa...cough...cough..."
Dime's head was spinning, her body screaming with pain. Every breath felt like battle. Ray was jumping around her trying to keep her face clean and occasionally casted a little ice on her to bring down the building fewer.
Around half an hour later knocking disturbed the silence of the scene. Tealla opened the door with brows furrowed. He brought the soup to the be where he found a shaking mess of the Lady.
"Ray can she sit up or should I feed her while lying down?"
"Ray thinks Dime can still sit up. Come on Dime!"
With the help of the mage, they put her in a sitting position. As he put the spoon to her mouth a few drops of blood dropped in it. Tealla hand clenched around the spoon.
"Is this really necessary? Why does not that hag let her take her frigging medicine. Is it really helping if she must be in this condition?"
"Dime said she needed her, so Ray will obey, although angry."
Mira just stayed quiet and bit her lips. A bowl of soup took an hour to for her even with help.
"She shouldn't have gone out today. Poor soul."
It always took a toll mentally on Tealla when they had to take care of her like this. His only relief was that she just had to endure it for another day.
