“…and this is the main bathroom. You can just leave your clothes in this basket, I will leave some clothes for you outside the door. They might not be perfect but please bear with it just till tomorrow. I’m sure the Lady will buy something for you.”

“Mathilda wait, can you tell me about what will I be doing here?”

“Inpatient are we? Don’t worry the Lady will surely tell you what you need to know during dinner. Now get in the bath you drip mud everywhere you step. Oh, my poor old bones, I have to start cleaning again…”

While talking she left Kaga in the bath. He tossed his dirty clothes in the basket and sat in the bathtub. As the hot water washed his body he could finally relax a little after weeks.

“Why have you taken him in? Is he some kind of super intelligent person or can he trade? Why? Whyyyyyy?”

“Ray calm down. What would be the fun if I told you already?” Dime was strocking the head of the little snake while sipping tea.

“Tealla I’m hungryyy!” Ray continued to whine to everyone who was close enough.

“You can take a bite of the goat boy.”

“No, Dime said to only bite him after dinner. We can’t have him pass out. It’s important you know it too.”

The next secund they could hear a loud puff and shouting. Mathilda opened the door and a pair of twins arrived. Both of them had blonde hair and green eyes. The boy was holding her sister in his hands who had no limbs. Mathilda was smacking the boy’s head with a newspaper.

“I told you it’s a joke. I didn’t hurt her, she was just scarred.”

“Can you not scare your sister shitless every time you bring her down Ramir?”

“Language!” Shouted Tealla and hit the table with the ladle. “Dinner is almost ready, so help me bring the plates.”

Ramir put Mira who was still white as a ghost to her chair and helped in the kitchen.

“I call the boy” Mathilda went out as fast as she came in.

“Mira how are things going. I hear that the shipment of herbs is a little late?”

Hearing the question the limbless girl snapped out of it. Like nothing had happened she answered in a serious collected manner.

“There have been some problems with the border protection, because the guards have less resources in the south. The greedy pigs on the north took all their training equipment and now they must train with real swords and there are a lot more injuries as I can see from the presented numbers. The shipment basically was lost first then found and delivered.”

“Looks like I will be busy in the next couple of days.”

“Yes unfortunately.”

Mathilda then returned with Kaga who looked much better after taking a bath. He looked at the twins he had yet to meet with interest. The sister just bowed toward him while the brother greeted him cheerfully.

“Hi Kaga nice to meet you, I’m Ramir and this is my sister Mira. Hope we can get along well.”

“Me too.”

“Okay dinner’s ready” Tealla started to bring all kinds of things to the table. “Today’s menu: Potato soup, beef stew with rice and carott muffins.”

Kaga was staring at the divine looking food. He hasn’t eaten warm meal since he left his job. Ramir was about to dig in when Mathilda scolded him.

“What about thanking Ostrara? Who put food on your table?”

“Thank you Ostrara for the food we can eat. Can I eat now?”

“Still needs a little refining but maybe next time. Let’s eat.”

Kaga was unsure about the prayer but repeated the words of Ramir and dig in.

“So Kaga I’m sure you have a lot of questions, but first let me tell you some things and if you still have something you want to ask you can afterwards. Sounds good?”

Kaga just looked at Dime who still wore her mask even when eating and nodded.

“Great then here goes the story. As you can see I’m the head of the family and I’m a merchant. I sell all kinds of things be it medicine, information or opportunities. Ray is helping me with gathering information and communication. Ray will bit you after dinner so you can also understand what we are talking about. Ray is originally a manaborn so addressing should go accordingly. Mathilda is a shaman, she helps with a lot of things around the house like healing and supply wise also. Tealla is our resident mage and cook as you can see. Mira is taking care of accounting, inventory and anything number related. Ramir is nursing Mira and makes medicine. Our main goal is to become a major powerhouse of the free city of Norning and eventually in the world. I know that you use a two-handed weapon and around the level of a Master. I want us to help each other like a real family. So, what do you say?”

Kaga was stunned. She basicly told him all that with one breath, leaving little time to prosess the infodump. How did she know? What did she say? World powerhouse? It was no surprise she was this confident when she had such big of a goals. But what could he do? He only knew how to swing his sword and a few battle tactics, business however wasn’t his stronghold.

“I can’t sell things.”

“That’s okay it’s my job.”

“I’m not very good in anything other than wielding my sword.”

“Fine by me.”

“You have ambitious goals.”

“It can become yours too.”

“Count me in.”

Everyone in the room could breathe again. Not like anyone in their right mind would refuse Dime's deals. She was just so charismatic.

“Then again welcome on board.”

“Yeah, welcome Kaga.”

“You need to work a lot to get my approval, but I can tolerate you for now.”

“Your loyalty will be noticed.”

“Mira don’t be so serious. Sorry about my sister. Anyways happy to have you”
