New room? Ch 6
What makes a Master Merchant
Ray jumped to the smaller cloak. The little snake was wiggling around her arm like a bracelet. The little nose could always smell the sweet scent Dime emitted at all times. Rayâs little paradise.
âLady Dime welcome home! How was your outing?â
âIt was fruitful, we did a lot. Has the busboy with the clothes arrived?â
âNot yet, but Iâm sure he will come. He never takes a whole day.â
âYeah. I brought you a little souvenir. Itâs mana powder.â
Dime gave Mathilda a pouch full of glowing green power. Her eyes lit up as she received the gift.
âBut my Lady this must have been a fortune.â
âDonât worry about it. Where is the rest?â
âMira said she would only come down for dinner. I could get Tealla to get some sleep but started working right after awakening. Ramir isâ¦â
âOut again I see. Iâm glad the sleeping power worked. He needs to catch up with rest.â
âDime, Dime, Ray has the report ready!â
âOkay Iâm all ears.â
Ray got really exited but the strokes of the masked woman managed to calm the little snake down. Ray snuggled closer to the palm, making the position more comfortable.
âSo, Ray got down to business as soon as Ray got the orders. Ray found three places that fit the description. The Green Boar Inn, the Headless Griffon Inn and the Red Fountain Hotel, tough the last is higher end than the others. Ray also found out that there is a very popular dwarf smithy but nobody was using the actual name of it so Ray canât say where it is.â
âIts fine, my little pixie did very good.â
Dime gave a peck to the white snake and cuddled Ray in her arms. The snake was over the moon as always. The biggest happiness for Ray was Dimeâs existence. Kaga was surprised by the sudden mention of a pixie but figured it was just a nickname for Ray.
âMathilda please make sure that Ramir will eat when he gets home. He tends to forget about it when he is out and about.â

âOf courseâ¦actually it is worrying me. What is he doing outside all night?â
âJust letting out some steam. If he gets in trouble I will take care of it so donât worry too much.â
âSure.â
âKaga now help me with a few things around the house.â
Kaga just nodded and followed her. They stopped at the warehouse first. It was packed full with various equipment and materials. Dime took out some cleaning supplies and a big hammer. They went to one of the rooms that were unoccupied at the moment. The room was empty, only the colorful sunset rays could be seen on the creaky old wooden floor. The walls had thorn flower patterned wallpaper on them which screamed to be removed.
âFist use this to spray on all the wallpaper. It will come of more easily and kills any growing mold or fungi.â
They got to work. The rooms air was filled with the chemical, but they werenât bothered by it. Then one by one scraped of the old wallpaper pieces. Under the wallpaper an ocean of mold was living its best life. Thanks to the spray it quickly came of and the wood under it could breathe.
âGreat, now for the floor only do what I tell you, donât swing around the hammer aimlessly.â
With the skillful leading of Dime, they could get the wooden floor in no time. They also sprayed the floor with the concoction and left it for the night. The whole room took around two hours, not bad at all.
âGreat work. Tomorrow before our little meeting with the soldiers we will go to one of my business partner and you will choose what kind of room would you want. So, think about it.â
âWait will this be my room? But I already have one.â
âSilly, did you thought that I would have you live in a closet for the rest of your live? No way. We just werenât exactly having the time to make something for you. You still havenât seen the others room, but they all have their personalized places. You will get one too.â
âBut you donât have a room?â
âMy case is a little specialâ¦Iâm still waiting for some materials to arrive.â
âRay wants to come too. Ray wants to know what kind of furniture Kaga likes.â
âOf course you can come too.â
It was Kaga who answered the little snake. They were taken aback since Kaga usually didnât speck much, but Ray hissed happily.
Kaga went back to his room. A lot has happened in the past two days. He needed to clear his head out. He felt that he could blend into this weird bunch. He still knows basically nothing of them, but maybe heâs gotten a little closer to them.
âDinnerâs ready! Kaga grab Mira for me please. This old woman can only carry so much.â
Kaga knocked on the girlâs room. As he entered, he found a hunched over figure. At a closer look she looked fragile as a porcelain doll. Her straight blonde hair and blinding blue eyes were even more playing into the doll feeling. He lifted her up like a feather.
-What is the granny whining about? The wet clothes I wore yesterday were heavier than the girl.
âYou donât have to be so careful Sir, I wont break as easily.â
âNo, its justâ¦wait, Sir? Why are you calling me that?â
âYou donât like it? I thought knights loved it when I addressed them by their title.â
The girl seemed genuinely confused. Her face was distant and cold. Her eyes rested on the face of the ram man.
âI seem to have made a mistake. I apologize Kaga. Please forgive me.â
âNo problem.â
He thought Mira would be a normal girl who tried to gain some control over her life, but it was the opposite. She wanted no control whatsoever. She just wanted a cause to keep living, and she found that in Dime.
