Chapter 33

Her Bodyguard

That Saturday, they arranged with the wedding planner to meet them for dinner at the Greek restaurant not far from their apartment.

It was one of the best places around, and it was the one Vince suggested they meet at to discuss the details.

When they walked in and Dexter told the waiter they were dining with Mr. Weller, they were shown to his table.

“Oh, hell no,” he said under his breath when he saw the man sitting at the table. He was expecting someone older and less attractive. When Vince stood up, he introduced himself to the couple.

He shook Dexter’s hand, and taking hold of Roxie’s, he brought it to his lips and kissed it. His eyes were focused on her. “It is a great pleasure to meet you, Miss Greene.”

They all sat down just as the waiter brought over a bottle of wine and poured them all a glass.

“I hope you don’t mind, but I took the liberty of ordering us some wine. I think you will like this one. It has a delightful flavor.”

Dexter did not like the way the man had kissed her hand. He was the same age as Roxie, and he had a thick French accent.

He put his arm over her shoulder, making a point to Vince that she belonged to him. “So, Mr. Weller, how long have you been a wedding planner?”

Vince averted his attention from Roxie to look at Dexter. “Going on five years now. I can see from your face that you are skeptical.

“I can promise you that I am well qualified and have planned many weddings.

“I brought a list with the phone numbers of some of my past clients, in case you wanted to check with them to find out if they were satisfied with my work.”

Dexter took the list from Vince when it was handed to him. “Isn’t it unusual for a man to be a wedding planner? One wouldn’t think that this would be the type of job for a man.”

He earned a kick in the shin from Roxie, though she didn’t say anything.

“Please, call me Vince. I agree it’s mostly women that do this kind of work.

“My mother was a wedding planner her whole life, and when she got sick with cancer, I stepped in to help her. When she passed away, I kept the business alive and took it over.

“I enjoy doing it. It gives me great pleasure to see the happiness on people’s faces when they get the wedding of their dreams.

“I plan on making all of your wishes come true, and I will do whatever I can to make that happen.

“I shall excuse myself to use the men’s room in order to give you and your fiancée a moment to discuss whether or not you want me as your wedding planner.”

When Vince left the table, she turned to look at him.

“Why are you being rude to the man? There is nothing saying that a man can’t be a wedding planner. They are just as capable as a woman is.”

“He’s French. They are known to be women seducers, and that’s probably why he’s doing this, so that he can get together with the bride-to-be. I think we should look for someone else.

“I saw the way he was looking at you when he kissed your hand,” he said in a snarky tone.

“Oh, Dexter. He has to be friendly and charming to his clients. I’ve heard that he’s the best around, and I don’t have time to plan the wedding myself.

“I really want him, and besides, you’ll be with us every time we get together to discuss something. You don’t have to be jealous. I’m yours and only have eyes for you.”

He felt her hand rubbing his leg, and when he looked into her eyes, he knew he could deny her nothing.

“All right, I’ll agree to hire him, but if he makes a pass at you or gets too friendly, I’ll not only fire him, he’ll end up with two black eyes.”

She reached over and kissed him on the cheek. “You won’t have to fire him. If he makes a pass at me, I’ll be the one to do it.”

When Vince returned, Dexter was a little more friendly with the man. After ordering their meal, they discussed the wedding plans.

Vince was told where they wanted the wedding to be held, what all they wanted for food at the reception, what kind of cake they wanted, and he was given the guest list.

By the time dinner was over, Vince had all the information he needed and told them that he would get started right away and would be in touch to discuss more details.

Now, being that the wedding was to be in six months, Vince had a lot of work to do. Dexter wrote him a check for half, and the other half he would receive closer to the wedding date.

They said their goodbyes and headed back to their apartment, but he was still going to keep a close eye on the young man.

When they got home, she went to slip into something a little more comfortable.

It was a sexy see-through nightgown, and when she entered the living room, she tried to get his attention, but he was busy looking out the window.

“Dexter,” she said, leaning up against the wall.

When he didn’t answer, she went over and wedged herself between him and the window. “Are you so bored with me already that you don’t notice me wearing some sexy lingerie?”

“I’m sorry, but I was lost in my thoughts,” he said, checking out what she was wearing. “You shouldn’t wear such things.”

“Don’t you like it?”

“It’s nice, sexy, and I like that I can see your beautiful body through it.

“But I’m afraid that in a few minutes it’s going to be laying on the bedroom floor and most likely torn in pieces,” he said, making her squeal when he picked her up and carried her to the bedroom.

The next morning, over coffee, he thought it was time to bring up her father.

“Don’t you think you should tell your dad that we’re getting married? You haven’t talked to him since that night he showed up and gave you the papers.”

“I was going to wait until the invitations were made, and deliver it to him in person. I just hate the thought of Claudia being at our wedding.”

“I know, but don’t you worry. I won’t let her spoil our big day.”

A week later, returning from work and entering the apartment, he heard laughter coming from the kitchen. Walking in, he found Roxie and Vince sitting at the table.

Seeing how friendly the man was with her had his heart pounding. “Vince, I wasn’t expecting to see you here.”

She got up and went over to him when she saw how angry he looked. “Sweetheart, he just came to drop off our invitations. Come look at them. They’re really beautiful.”

He went over to the table and picked one up and looked at it. “They are nice, but how did you get them made so quickly?”

“I have a cousin in the business, and as a favor to me she put a rush on them. Since you’re here, we need to discuss what kind of cake and flowers you would like.

“I brought some samples for you to try,” he said, opening the box that was on the table to reveal several tiny bite-size samples.

Two hours later they picked out which cake they wanted, and the flowers.

“Things are running smoothly,” Vince said and announced he had to leave. “Oh, and I was able to book the church and the hall for the reception.”

“Thank you. You’re really getting things done.”

He looked at Dexter. “I’m getting paid to get things done quickly and to keep the pressure off the bride,” he said, smiling over at Roxie. “Oh, and the groom too.”

“Let me walk you out.” He looked back at her and said he’d be right back.

When they got to the door, he placed his hand on the wall and stared at Vince. “I would appreciate it if you would make sure I’m home before coming over.”

“I wasn’t aware I had to. The groom usually doesn’t get involved with most of the planning. They leave it up to the bride.”

“Well, I’m not like the others. I will be involved with everything regarding our wedding. I’ve checked into you, and I know you have had several affairs with some of your clients.

“You, sir, are a player, and you won’t be playing with my girl. I would fire your ass, but Roxie says you’re the best and wants you to plan our wedding.

“I will be watching you, and if you do anything to her or fuck up our wedding, it will be the end of you. Have I made myself clear?”

“Loud and clear,” he answered and left when Dexter opened the door.

The following week, Roxie went to see her father to give him the invitation. The maid told her he was in his den, and when she went there, she found him sitting in the dark.

“Dad, why are you sitting in the dark?” she asked, turning on the light. She was shocked to see him. It looked like he had aged ten years since the last time she saw him.

“I like the darkness. It’s so peaceful.”

“I came to give you the invitation to Dexter’s and my wedding. We’re getting married, Dad, five months from now.” She could tell something was terribly wrong. “What’s going on, and where is Claudia?”

“She left me.”

She went over and sat next to him. “What do you mean she left you?”

“Claudia and I tried to make it work, but I wasn’t enough for her. She found someone younger and richer.

“You were right about her. I should have listened to you. I thank God I had her sign that prenup before we got married.”

As much as she still hated what he had done to her mother, he was still her father, and she felt bad for him.

She stayed for most of the day, and when she asked him if he would walk her down the aisle, that seemed to cheer him up. Later that night she told Dexter what had happened.

The next two months flew by. She had her dress picked out, and everything was falling into place. At night they went through the real estate ads, and one house stood out.

“Dexter, look at this one. Four bedrooms, four baths. A large kitchen and dining room, a den, family room, and an office, which would be perfect for when I work from home.

“A full finished basement and no neighbors around for two miles. Can we go look at it?”

He took a look and read all the information. “It looks like a great investment and not too bad a price. Hey, look. It has a pool, just like you wanted.

“I’ll give them a call tomorrow and set up an appointment.”

She threw her arms around him, pushed him down, and got on top of him. “Have I told you how much I love you?”

“Yes, but why don’t you show me?” he said, moving his hand down between her legs. He started rubbing, making her wet.

He lay back, watching as she pulled her nightgown up over her head and threw it down. His cock was hard, waiting for her to ride him. He grabbed her hips when she placed him inside her.

She knew exactly how to move her hips and when to slow down and when to speed up.

She rode him until he exploded his load inside her. He was surprised that she wasn’t pregnant, even though she was on the pill.

“When are we going to get real kinky? I’m still waiting for you to use the handcuffs on me. Or do I have to be the one to tie you up?”

“Baby, I promise that on our wedding night I will give you whatever you want. Now, lay down on your stomach and spread your legs for me.”

One month before the wedding she found out that they had gotten the house they put an offer on. They could move in right after they returned home from their honeymoon.

Dexter’s parents were coming a week before the wedding, and Roxie’s dad said they could stay with him at the mansion, since he had all those empty bedrooms. Others would be staying there as well.
