Prayer for the brokenhearted
☆Faith☆ (A Series Of Poems)
You ever been so heartbroken you turn to God?
Head back home 2 hours north and unclasp the necklace you once wore?
The chain belonging to a young and devout Catholic
Back then, the girl who never swore
Who prayed every night to a deity up above
Who learned only the basic prayer but knew all the religious songs
Who thought she'd lose her innocence to a man under the knowledge of love
Not the premise or the outline, not a promise under a drunken buzz
You ever wash your body with hot water?
Scrub with the toughest rock to truly erode all the sin?
The skin so raw it's bleeding maroon
Reminds you of the wine you drank and the darkness you've since consumed
You ever look at his page and see the stupid highlights?
Know he's still living while all you can do is lay
Look to the side and know he once held you there
Close your eyes tightly and gently caress yourself
For a few seconds it feels like you're in heaven
But now with my necklace I feel partially whole
The gold surrounds the only person I will ever find divine
The Virgin Mary who will protect me
She'll have me think twice before I invite over the next guy
And with her image sitting atop my bare chest
God forbid any man thinks of touching my body once more
Overcome by lust but then they'll see her
Guilty conscious for the both of us if it's something we rush
But soulful decay if he touches me
Just to leave me the next day without warning
Soulful decay just like when he touched me
The boy lost any good graces he had with the heavenly
