Nervous jitters erupt from the soul

Heart palpitations

Each time it skips a beat

I think of what lays ahead

Perhaps feeling sore

Tired

Relaxed

Clear mind

Maybe hungry?

At ease

Happy

Carefree

The day before the race

I carefully lay out the skematics

What I will eat

What I should avoid

What parts to stretch

What times to dine

Sleep

And awaken

It has to be before

The bus arrives

So many thoughts

For what seems like so little

Yet in the end

It's worth

All these jitters

The day before the race

Is the day

Before I become happy

Once more
