Chapter 49

Skylar's POV

We had just got home and had been told that Lucy had our daughter at

another pack being protected since it wasn't safe for her to be here

until we came home. Currently everyone who was gone was sitting in

the living room listening to Jasper explain to us what had happened

while the warriors who were with Jace were outside guarding the house.

Jasper seems to be about half way done telling us he events that had

transpired and I know it is extremely hard for him to talk about.

"I was running my way towards Alex to help him out when he looked at

me with very sad eyes as he mind linked me telling me to run and that

he was sorry and to take care of Lucy and Amber but he wasn't aware

that Amber was already dead. He told me to make sure that Lilith was

safe and that he loved me before he blocked the link, I watched as he

tried to attack the wolf he was fighting with but he was to hurt to be

able to fight properly and the wolf killed him. At that point I looked

behind me and saw the wolf I was fighting with in the house coming

after me so I took off in a different direction then the house and

passageway. As I was running I made sure that they were both

following me as I took them away from the pack house so that Lucy

and Lilith could get away.” Jasper tells us through his tears

"So before I got out of distance I mind linked Lucy and told her to take

the emergency bag and Lilith and to take the passageway and to head

west and not to stop until she reached the Mystic pack. Before hand I

had reached out to them and asked them if they could watch and

protect Lucy and Lilith if anything went wrong here and they were more

then willing to help. I told Lucy I loved her and for her to stay safe and

keep Lily safe before I blocked her out making sure I did everything in

my power to give them enough time to get far away from here not

caring about what happened to me in the process. I had been running

for hours when my legs finally gave out and I collapsed in some

clearing far away from the pack house, I was so exhausted I shifted back

and layed there panting trying to catch my breath and give my wolf

time to recover so we could make it back home if we lived. I saw the

other 2 who were chasing me come into view and they shifted back to

their human forms before coming up to me and beating the shit out of

me trying to get me to tell them where Lilith was but I told them I

would never tell them where she was and that she was long gone and

that they would never ever find them. They threatened to kill me if I

didn't tell them but I didn't care I told them to kill me as I would never

betray my alpha or my pack by telling them anything. The continued to

beat the living shit out of me and when I thought they were going to

kill me they injected me with something that burned like fucking hell

making black spots spread across my vision as I was losing

consciousness. The last thing I remember was one of them leaned

down and said something in my ear but I wasn't able to focus on what

it was as I blacked out completely.” he told us everyone sat stock still

not knowing what to do or say before Jasper continued

"After hours of being blacked out I awoke in forest beaten and bruised

but still alive for some reason. I painfully shifted back into my wolf and

came back to the pack house, once I got here I shifted back and threw

on some shorts before I linked the doc to come and help set my ribs

back in place and bandage me up before he made me rest for a few

hours to let my ribs set enough that I could move and lift some things.

Once I was able to move around I went upstairs and grabbed Amber's

body and brought it outside to the edge of the forest and then I went

and got Alex's body as well and placed it next to Amber's before I dug

them a joint grave and put them to rest. After I did that I took my time

cleaning up the room they destroyed before I had hired someone to

come and fix it up making it look like new so that everything was fixed

for when one or both of you came back home.” He told us with pain

filled eyes

"Where was Lucas when all of this was happening considering he

should have been here as well." Jace asks Jasper curiously

"Well the thing the day you left he seemingly just disappeared and no

one had a clue to where he was. When I got back from the clearing I

woke up in I heard someone in the house so before I linked the doctor

to come and fix me up I went upstairs to where Amber's body was

which is where I heard the sound come from and that's when I seen him

standing there staring at her lifeless body. I stood there watching him

and as he turned to leave he seen me and jumped scared since he had

no clue I was standing there so I asked him where he had been and

what he was doing when we were being attacked and told him how

Alex and Amber were dead because he wasn't here to help his pack

mates out. I demanded him to tell me where and what he was doing

while his pack mates were being murdered but he just stood there

before he started to laugh maniacally at me before he took off through

the broken window and into the woods and I haven't seen him since

and I know he had something to do with the attack but I can't prove

anything.” He informs us which enrages Jace who had to leave and go

for a run with some of the warriors for back up just in case something

happened.

I got up and hugged him close to me as we both cried for out fallen

wolves and I promised him we would hold a proper funeral for Alex and

Amber. Jasper thanked me before he got up and left going out the

back door probably to go and visit his brothers grave, I watched him go

my heart breaking with every step he took. I followed him into the

kitchen as he stood in front of the sink staring out the window looking

at the unmarked grave of his twin brother and his dear friend. I walked

over and placed a hand on his shoulder making him jump a little as he

looked over to me and gave me a small smile before he continued to

stare out the window as he placed his hand over mine as we stood in a

comfortable silence for a little while.

"I am so sorry about Alex I know how close you both were and what

you guys meant to each other. I also want to thank you for taking such

good care of Jace and Lilith for me since I was taken I don't know if he

would've been able to come and save me if he didn't have you here to

look after him. It tears me apart seeing you like this and knowing that

there was nothing I could have done to protect my pack and my family

I'm just eternally grateful for all of you for being here for my mate and

my daughter when I couldn't be.” I say to him as I cry slightly
