Every time Yernia slowly caressed his back, his body became tense.
When she noticed him holding his breath, Yernia, whose eyes were about to fall shut, cast him a suspicious glance.
âWhatâs wrong? Are you sick?â
âI feel hot. Can you unbutton my shirt?â
He was used to ordering everyone he could.
Yernia felt sorry that he couldnât sleep so far, so she decided to just do it.
âHow many buttons?â
âUndo it all.â
âWhy donât you get up and take off that shirt? If you feel hot, change your clothes.â
It was alright to unbutton a few of them, but if he wanted her to undo everything, he might as well take his shirt off and change them.
Later, Yernia found her suggestion strange, so she uttered another excuse.
âI know youâre tired, too. Thereâs no reason to take off your clothes when youâre already exhausted.â
She knelt next to Cassian to put him to sleep, and when she wrapped him in her embrace, he finally closed her eyes and rested.
+++
As drowsiness sunk into his mind, Cassian blinked in annoyance when she suggested he take his clothes off and change.
âThen, unbutton it down to your chest.â
It was a real nuisance, but he was too lazy to argue, so he just did what he was told this time.
Yerniaâss gaze naturally fell on his solid chest.
She felt some type of way as she stared at it.
It was different from before.
Yernia closed her eyes and shook her head.
She shouldnât stare at other peopleâs bodies like that.
On the contrary, Yernia would feel embarrassed if Cassian stared at her body the way she did.
Casian suddenly grabbed Yerniaâs hand and made her touch his chest.
She brushed her fingertips against his muscles as she slept.
After lightly caressing his skin while half-asleep, she realized what she was doing and quickly loosened the strength of her limbs.
âCan you hear my heart beating?â
âYes.â
âMy heart is going to explode at this rate. Can you do something about this?â
Why was he asking her that?
Was this a protest for not getting enough guidance?
Yerniaâs hand on his chest moved behind his back.
Then, she buried her face in his arms.
âI donât know. Iâm going to sleep. You should sleep too, Cassian.â
Yernia fell asleep at the sound of Cassianâs chuckle.
Yena briefly forgot her declaration of sleeping in the next room because she worried about Cassianâs insomnia.
***
âArenât we done talking earlier?â
Cassian gave Yernia a crooked stare.
Yerniaâs gaze looked like she had a lot of complaints as she continued to pack her things.
âYes. Iâm moving to the next room after this is over.â
âYou said youâd put me to sleep.â
âI put you to sleep earlier.â
When she woke up, Cassian was still there.
Yernia saw him sleep, and his regular breathing even followed.
He was having a good nightâs sleep.
Yernia even cupped his face carefully with her fingertips to make sure of it.
But then, she suddenly remembered herself saying that they would be using separate rooms!
Thatâs why Yernia packed her things swiftly.
She planned to talk to Cassian again in the evening and move to the next room without his knowledge.
She would still go even if he wouldnât allow it.
Perhaps because of the rustling sound, she was making, Cassian had woken up and saw her with his eyes wide open.
âIsnât it over if I put you to sleep once?â
Yernia never stopped packing as she looked at his refreshed countenance.
He seemed to have slept very well.
âDonât worry. Iâll put you to sleep tonight as well. But Iâll be using a separate room when I sleep.â
âWhy? Did I do something wrong?â
Cassian did nothing wrong.
She just decided on it and wanted to follow through, but she didnât want to say it out loud.
âI need a place where I can rest alone.â
âDo you feel uncomfortable when Iâm next to you?â
âThatâs not true, butâ-No. Honestly, youâre right. Itâs uncomfortable.â
Cassian seemed shocked to hear about her discomfort.
He stood there and said nothing.
Yernia felt uncomfortable after becoming aware of his existence as a possible romantic interest.
She got nervous around him and didnât want to be weird anymore.
âWhy are you doing this all of a sudden?â
Cassian scrutinized his recent memories, trying to find why Yernia acted like this.
It became clear to him that he would be ignorant for a long time  so he left her alone.
When a sudden realization came to him, Cassian looked back at Yernia.
His eyes were narrowed as he  stared at her.
âI see.â
Cassianâs countenance was completely different from before.
The shock must have evaporated to be replaced with a smile.
âYou must feel awkward sharing a bed with me.â
ââ¦â¦.â
âI wonder why you canât share a room with me when you consider me your childhood friend. Maybe, you donât want to treat me as such anymore.â
How did he know?
Yernia had never made it obvious. She swore to God.
However, she couldnât refute his statements when he was this confident.
âThatâs not true.â She denied it too late.
â Who cares about sharing a bed if Iâm your childhood friend? A room where you can rest alone? If you want, you can come in when Iâm asleep. Thatâs enough, right?
âNo, Iâll use the next room, Cassian.â
âI wonât let you go.â
âIâm going.â
Yernia carried the bag she packed on her shoulder.
When she was about to leave the room, Â Cassian moved in front of her, blocking her path.
âYou wonât share a room with me, huh?â
ââ¦â¦.â
âIâll just kiss you whenever I want. Iâll put up with everything else.â
Cassian seemed worried she might neglect her responsibilities if she started sleeping in another room.
Yernia knew she could not fully persuade him so she decided to give him a small bribe.
Wearing a pretty smile, Yernia rose on her tiptoes and kissed Cassian.
Cassian did.
The more unexpected the physical contact was, her guidance became more effective.
If he found kissing better than holding hands and hugging, then she would use that as a weapon to draw a line.
Yerniao only withdrew the instant she couldnât keep up with Cassianâs height.
âIâm still going to use the next room.â
Yernia didnât look back at Cassian and escaped from there.
She did it solely to guide him but her cheeks still burned.
I did it, and this was also a guide, but my face was burning.
Cassian was standing there in a daze.
His cheekbones turned red on the spot where Yerniaâs lips had touched.
Before he knew it, he slid down on the closed door behind his back.
Oh.
He was in trouble.
He was so happy he could die.
