I stare out the window, as Shane slows down near my house, before pulling to a complete stop.

As I reach for the handle, Shane tosses something over at me, not saying a thing. I am quick to catch the rectangular object.

"I don't want you talking to that one boy anymore." He says, through gritted teeth, his grip tightening on the steering wheel.

Who? Luke? I roll my eyes, and step out of the car quickly, and slam the door.

Not a second after the door closed, the car speeds off, going down the street then disappearing around the corner.

As I walk up the walkway to my house, the front door opens quickly, and an angry Father steps onto the porch.

"Where in the HELL were you two? Where did you go?" He puts his hand on his hip, glaring at me.

I just roll my eyes, too tired to argue with him at the moment.

I just kick my shoes off, leaving them where they land, and leave them there.

"I was talking to you, young lady." My dad nearly yells. "I let you do one god damned thing and this is what you do? Danielle would be disappointed in you, Bianca."

There it is. My snapping point.

"How the hell would you know, Dad? Mom was sad because of you. You weren't around when she needed you!" I yell back, tears welling in my eyes. "I had to be the one to help her. I was the one that had to go call for help when I found her...dead." By then I was sobbing.

Dad's face falls, and his eyes water. "Bi-"

I cut him off. "Seven. Years. Old. I was seven years old and I carried more responsibility than most full grown men do in their life. And I was still a child."

I turn, and grab my shoes off the floor, shove the new phone in my pocket, and run out the door.

I sob, and look towards the sky as I run to god knows where.

I sob as I flop onto the ground, legs giving out from under me.

Don't get me wrong, Dad is a good Dad, when he is not drunk and mad. But today, today he has a reason to be sad. Him and mom's anniversary was today.

I think back to before Mom got sick--before all the pain and sadness.

"Sweetheart, I need to go to work now." Her soft voice sounds from downstairs."aren't you gonna give me a kiss bye bye? "

I run out of the toy room as fast as I can, almost falling down the wooden stairs. "Mooommmmyyy!!"

She stands there, leaning against the bar, her phone to her ear.

"I know, Doctor Spielberg! I know. You don't have to constantly keep telling me this." She sighs, and leans her whole body on the bar.

"Mommy? Are you fighting again?" My five year old voice cries, watching Mom sigh.

Mommy looks over at me. "No, sweetie. I was just...uhh...trying to figure out your present for Christmas."

"Oh." I step onto the chair by the table, and jump off of it, into my Mommy's arms. "Do you have to go?"

She hugs me close, "I do. But I will be back as fast as i can. I love you, my little munchkin."

"Bianca?" A voice shakes me from my mind.

I slowly blink away the tears and look around, noticing a tall silhouette standing beside me, leaning down a bit.

"Are you okay?" He says, holding a hand out to help me up.

I just nod my head, not wanting to say anything.

Just as Luke opens his mouth to sag something a tiny kid yells. "I found it wuke."

I look behind him and see a small girl, about three of four, running over to us, with an old doll dragging behind her.

"This is my sister, Evangeline." Luke smiles at me, and reaches to pick her up.

I smile down at the little girl, who hides her face behind her long black hair.

I look back to Luke. "Do...you brought her back to find a doll?"

He smiles, and sets the girl down. "Of course I did. I am the best brother ever. Right, Vange?"

She just nods and runs off to the toddler play set.

"So...." He scratches the back of his neck. "What's wrong with you? You were crying?"

I look down at my converse covered feet. "Uhhm...I don't wanna talk about it."

"Okay. Well, I have to get Evangeline home before mom throws a fit." He smiles when I look back up at him. "But you wanna trade numbers so we could...uh..hang out sometimes? But only if you want to."

I laugh, "sure."

He pulls his phone out of his pocket, and hands it to me.

I dial my number in and hit call, making sure that we have each other's number and hand him his phone back. "Call me sometime." I smile at him.

I stand back and watch him walk with his baby sister back to a black Honda Accord, and buckle her in.

I turn and look around the neighborhood, and notice whose neighborhood I was in.

I smile slightly, and walk down the road, till I get onto the street.

I run towards the big, white house on the end of the street.

I look around the street, watching every person who are working in their yard.

Every house on the block has short, nearly cut yards, and beautiful flowers in the gardens.

Except for hers. The grass is grown up high, and dead in places. Grass even covers the walkway from lack of use.

I sigh, and slowly make my way up the yard, to the door.

When I step upon the step, and almost fall as it creaks, scaring me.

I shake my head and hurry up onto the porch. I slowly raise my hand and knock.

I stand there, waiting for a few seconds.

Then the door opens...and out steps......

To be continued....
