Chapter 183
One Night Surprise Novel
Chapter 183 Let Me Go, You Sick B*stard âThereâs a step here. Be careful, Young Mistress.â
Courtney held onto the door frame for support when she heard the housekeeper. âOh, where did the two children go? Thereâs a lot of people here. They have to be watched over closely.â
âLittle Master and Little Miss have been sent back to their rooms. They have a nanny watching and staying close to them. You donât have to worry, Young Mistress. Itâs quite windy today. Letâs go back inside before you catch a cold.â
âItâs fine. Donât worry about me. I want to get some air and sober up.â
Courtney freed her hand from the housekeeperâs grasp and waved her off.
As the night breeze blew under the eaves of the veranda, it carried the fragrance of the flowers with it.
After sobering up a bit, Courtney went to sit down by the stone table in the courtyard.
âAre you okay, cousin-in-law?â
A manâs voice sounded, catching her off guard. Narrowing her eyes in the direction of the voice, she saw a gray shadow under the eaves of the veranda. He was wearing a silvery-gray suit and looked to be around the same age as Alexander.
She faintly recalled, He was the first relative to congratulate me after Old Master Duncan made the introduction. He might be Alexanderâs cousin.
âIâm okay,â she replied as she tried to look more awake.
They were from a big and wealthy family; thus, she could not disgrace them.
The man looked handsome. After she answered him, he took big strides toward her and placed a clear plastic bottle on top of the stone table. He said out of concern, âThis candy will help you sober up. You wonât get a headache tomorrow if you take one today. I noticed you drank quite a bit earlier and was a bit concerned, so I followed you here. I hope Iâm not being rude.â
You followed me here even though you knew that it was rude. Donât you know that itâs inappropriate for a man and woman to be alone together?
Suddenly, she had a feeling that this person was being very sketchy, and his sly behavior annoyed her.
âThank you.â She gave him a polite nod but did not reach out to retrieve it.
âWhen did you and Alexander meet? Iâve never heard him mention you before,â he asked nonchalantly.
She felt lightheaded as she glanced at him through her hazy vision. âI havenât known him for that long. It makes sense that he didnât mention me.â
âI see. I guess he really likes you. Otherwise, it does seem a bit hasty to get married this soon.â
âHe wants to marry me?â When she heard that through her groggy state of mind, she only wanted to laugh. âWhy would he want to marry me? His first love returned. Heâs probably eager to break up with me.â
âFirst love?â
That sparked the manâs interest. âIt seems like you have a lot of complaints about Alexander. You can tell me. Iâll straighten him out when I get the chance.â
âWhatâs there to tell?â She shoved him out of annoyance, catching him off guard and almost making him tumble over. He scowled at her at once.
âEven if he wants to marry me, I wonât accept it. Thereâs a truckload of people who like me. Who does he think he is?â
The man paused briefly then sneered, âI like the sound of that. Who does he think he is being arrogant all the time? Itâs only because he was lucky enough to be born here. Courtney, tell me a little bit about how you two met.â
âUs?â She looked up and blinked at the man in front of her. Suddenly, she grasped his collar and growled, âAlexander Duncan...
You as*hole.â
Perhaps she was drunk, but there was a clumsy and shameless charm about her that left the man in a daze when she got close.
Sheâs a rare beauty. No wonder Alexander decided on marrying her so quickly.
âYouâre drunk, Courtney. Iâll take you back to rest.â
Holding her up by the waist, he started to take a couple of steps when he saw a shadow looming over the ground. Looking up ahead, the color drained from his face.
âA-Alexander.â
Alexander was staring at him coldly. Without saying a word, he strode over and pulled Courtney out of the manâs arms. After making sure that her clothes were intact, he warned the man, âJames Duncan. For Old Master Duncanâs sake, I wonât lay a finger on you. But if you ever touch my belongings or my people again, I will cut up the part of you that came in contact with them and feed it to the dogs. Believe it or not, thatâs up to you.â
With that, he carried Courtney in his arms and went straight into the house.
Standing in the corridor, James felt his back go cold from the slight breeze. The hatred in his eyes was seemingly able to penetrate through the house like two sharp daggers. Donât be too proud of yourself. The day you arenât able to stand tall anymore will be the day when everything you have and the people around you will be mine, he cursed.
After Alexander kicked open the room door, he carried Courtney to the bathroom and threw her into the bathtub.
A shower of cold water started to pour down on her. She woke with a jolt, screaming and slipping in the bathtub. The moment she opened her eyes and registered the person in front of her, she had mostly sobered up.
âAre you awake now?â His gaze was cold. âDo you want me to tell you what you were doing earlier?â
A sense of fear lingered in her when she remembered what happened in the courtyard, but she clenched her fists and retorted, âWasnât that your cousin? What could I possibly do in your familyâs courtyard?â
âAre you still not willing to admit to your mistakes?â He was not just mad about one thing. âWhat did you tell James earlier? That you didnât want to marry me? That a truckload of people are into you? Who are they?â
âHow is that any of your business?â
The downpour of cold water got her fired up. Being in that awkward situation already made her want to find a place to hide in, but Alexander only continued to provoke her further.
As she lifted herself out of the bathtub, she snapped, âWe broke up. I didnât refute in front of everyone for Old Master Duncanâs sake. Iâm going to go see him right now to clarify the situation. Letâs not cross paths again.â
âDonât you dare!â His words were like nails that pinned her in place.
She gritted her teeth and glared up at him. âWhat do I have to fear?â
At once, he pushed her down in the bathtub and leaped in swiftly with his long legs. A pair of steel arms pressed down on her shoulders and kept her locked in place. Looking down at her aggressively, he snarled, âWhat do you take the Duncan Family for?
Is this a place where you can come and go as you please?â
âLet go of me...â she cried out in pain.
Rage had taken over him. In his mind, he could only picture the scene from the courtyard earlier when James had his hands all over her, but she did not resist it. Moreover, all he could hear was Courtney claiming to have never intended on marrying him.
The way she looked in front of him now was clearly engraved in his mind.
But she was telling him to let her go; to give up.
His eyes had turned red. In a spur of the moment, he let all his emotions loose and ripped the blouse she was wearing into pieces, revealing her lacy bra underneath that was wrapped around her full and trembling chest. The more she trembled, the more aroused he became.
âLet me go, Alexander, you sick b*stard!â Courtney screamed as her hands fought desperately to escape, splashing water everywhere. He tied her hands to the faucet with a necktie then lifted her waist up abruptly.
