Chapter 37: 2.21

Arielle walked through the halls of the Mikaelson house looking for Klaus. After her conversation with Elijah she couldn't believe Klaus told him; it wasn't his business.

"There you are." she muttered, as she walked into a room. The hybrid looked up at her and then back down at whatever he was doing, "Why would you tell Elijah that?" she asked, stopping in the middle of the room.

Klaus looked up at her confused, "Tell him what?"

"Don't act stupid, you know what!"

The man looked at her confused and set his pencil down, "I have no—" realization hit him and caused him to stop, "Oh. You're talking about that."

She smiled at him sarcastically, "Yeah, I'm talking about that." she mocked, "Why the hell would you even mention that to him? It's not your business."

Klaus shrugged, "I can tell he cares for you; wouldn't want to lie to him."

The girl scoffed, "Please. Cut the bullshit. Why did you tell him?"

"I already told you." he said, "Believe me or don't, I don't care either way."

"You're an expert at that." she muttered.

Klaus rolled his eyes and went back to what he was doing, "Is that all? Or do you need to yell at me because of something else?"

She scoffed at his attitude and went to walk away but stayed in her place and said, "Yeah, actually, I do." she said, "Caroline deserves an apology from you."

Klaus raised his brow at her, "What?"

"You had her boyfriend bite her, on her birthday, for your gain, so I think that deserves some type of apology."

"Yeah, sure." he waved off. The girl wanted to yell at him to do something.

After their argument, all she could think about was his words. She wanted to ask him if he actually meant everything he said, or if it was just the heat of the moment. She also wanted to tell him she didn't entirely mean everything she said.

But he had his 'scary hybrid' persona on, and to get across that persona seemed very difficult for her, especially in this moment.

"Piece of advice," she began, "don't trust your mother." she turned around and walked away.

As Arielle walked back into the foyer of the house, she saw people gathered around and listening to Esther. She quickly made her way to Elijah's side and began to pay attention to Esther.

"She met with Elena." Elijah whispered to her.

The witch looked up at the older witch and then at Elena, "For what?"

"I don't know. But it can't be anything good."

The girl looked at Klaus walking into the foyer and then up at Esther, she held up a glass of champagne and smiled, "If anything happens, I'll fillet the bitch."

"Calm yourself." he said as Esther finished her speech, "Cheers."

"I don't even have a drink."

"No alcohol for you." he said.

Arielle scoffed but stayed quiet because she knew it was a losing battle, "Whatever, I'm going home."

"Want me to drive you?"

"You've been daggered too long, you shouldn't even have your license." she joked, "But no, I'm good."

"Call as soon as you get home." the girl nodded and gave him a kiss on the cheek before walking off.

"What are you doing here?" the werewitch asked him as she opened her front door.

"Can I come in?" Klaus asked.

"When you answer my question; what are you doing here?"

"I came to ask you questions." he answered, "Now, may I come in?"

The girl rolled her eyes and opened the door further to allow him to walk in, "What do you want?" she asked tiredly. All she wanted was to drink her tea and lay in her bed.

"Not going to offer me water or anything?" he asked jokingly, the girl raised a brow at him making him clear his throat, "Earlier you said I shouldn't trust my mother, why?"

"Simple," she said, "she's a bitch."

"That's not a reason."

"Okay, then," she thought about the right way to word this for a moment, "when I went to that creepy old witches house to get Elijah's coffin, she pulled me to the other side and asked if I could bring her back to life and when I rejected her proposal, she threw a tantrum."

Klaus blinked, "What?" he asked, the girl nodded, "And you didn't think to tell me this, why?"

"Well, we're not exactly friends." she scoffed.

Klaus sighed, "I need a drink."

Lilith walked towards the kitchen, "Come on." she  got out a glass and placed it on the counter, she then looked through her mom's hiding places, "This good? I don't know much about whiskey."

Klaus nodded and she handed him the bottle, "So, when you talked with my mother, what exactly did she say?" he asked, pouring himself a drink.

"Something about mentoring me if I brought her back, the balance of good and evil, and erasing all evil from my life."

That last part caught Klaus' attention, "Erasing all evil from your life?" he repeated, "What evil do you have in your life?"

"You." she answered quickly. Klaus gave her a look that made her laugh, "I'm joking." she said, "I swear, but your face was hilarious."

"Yeah, very funny."

"For me, yes."

"What'd she say when you rejected her proposal?"

"She tried to push me to accept it, but I told her to get it through her dead skull that I wasn't helping her, then she sent me back here." Klaus nodded as he took this all in, "What are you thinking?"

"I don't know. I mean, I haven't seen her in a thousand years." he said, "I can't predict or anticipate her next move." Arielle could tell this was affecting him, "It's bloody irritating."

"I sure as hell can't tell you what she's planning, but Elijah's already suspicious of her, so at least you're not the only one worrying about her." she said, attempting to make him feel better.

"What does he think?"

The girl shrugged, "I don't know." she said honestly, "But I did promise him that if anything happened to you guys, I'd kill Elena, and Esther, if she's still around."

Klaus smiled, "That's reassuring."

Arielle scoffed, "It really is." they both laughed a little and then stared at each other.

The wolf hat that urge to ask him a million questions about their argument, but she wasn't sure if he would even answer them.

But who knew when she'd get the chance to ask him these questions. She sighed before just blurting out, "Did you mean what you said?"

"What did I say?"

"Caroline's birthday, after Stefan almost killed me, did you mean what you said?" she asked.

Klaus shook his head, "No, I don't think you're a killer." he said, "And as much as I want to deny it, I have grown to care about you."

"I didn't mean what I said either." she said, "I was just angry for what you did to Caroline." they both stared at each other with a look that said everything between the two.

It wasn't something that could be explained, it was just that look. Neither of them were good at saying how they feel, their eyes were their mouth.

You can say whatever you want, but if your eyes aren't on the same page, then your feelings will be reflected right away.

Words aren't worth anything, your actions are, your body language is, anything but words will tell a person how you truly feel.

And that's what their eyes were doing.

Saying everything they couldn't, saying things their mouth would one day say. But for now, their eyes had to do the work.

And that didn't seem to bother them.
