Chapter 32
Lunar Whispers
When Jacob's lessons were over, he looked a little pale and he was very distracted. He hurt a lot because he couldn't hear Hunter's thoughts, he was still asleep.
"Come on," Sam hated to see him struggle. "Let's go to Hunter's house. Does your brother know where you're going?"
"Yes, it's fine," Jacob breathed and followed him down the corridor. He didn't know what Hunter and his pack had been up to last night as he saw Brad glaring at them.
"Just ignore him," Sam said and stood closer to Jacob. "He's angry because he's not part of a pack anymore."
Jacob raised his eyebrows.
"He's not?"
"Nope. Hunter kicked him out last night."
"Why?"
"It's a long story," Sam sighed. "I'll let Hunter explain when we get there."
Jacob nodded and followed him through the glass doors and into the fresh afternoon air.
When they reached the trees and started walking through the woods, Sam studied him for a moment as they walked.
"What is it like?" He questioned. "To be mated with someone? I've always wondered what it would feel like."
Jacob thought about it and explaining it is a little hard.
"Um," He said quietly. "It's strange. I can feel Hunter even when we're not together." His voice was quiet but so are the woods, therefore, Sam could hear him perfectly. "I know how he feels all the time, I always know what he's thinking. I know how he feels about me and I've never felt so relaxed around someone. We feel close because of this, um, connection. It's hard to explain."
Sam listened intensely.
"That was the most I've heard you speak," He chuckled. "But it sounds wonderful. I want to find a mate one day."
Jacob wasn't sure how it all worked.
"Does every werewolf find a mate?"
Sam shook his head.
"Not everyone. Alpha's find them at the age of eighteen. But for the rest of us werewolves, we have to hope that we're lucky enough. Those who deserve it find them, Lunar Love is selected very carefully. There's always a reason why two people are brought together."
"Always a reason?"
"Yes," Sam smiled. He liked how interested Jacob is. He knew he could talk to him for hours and not bore him. It was refreshing because Hunter usually gets bored after five minutes. "You and Hunter are together because he needed you or you needed him. Or maybe, you're together because you once had wolves in your family bloodline or something. Or maybe you have some crazy Destiny rubbish to fulfil. I don't know," He chuckled. "There are endless possibilities."
Jacob released a small smile. He liked the idea of them being brought together for a reason.
"Right, I think we're far enough for me to change," Sam stood still and pulled off his t-shirt. Jacob didn't feel awkward, not like he is with Hunter because this is different. He isn't insanely attracted to Sam like he is with him. "Can you hold onto this? It's my favourite t-shirt and I don't want to rip it."
Jacob took it and put it in his bag.
"I know you've hitched a lift with Hunter before. How did you find it?"
"Um, it was- It was fun."
Sam nodded with a grin.
"Right, once I change, I can't speak to you because we don't have a mind link yet. But just jump on."
Jacob nodded until he was staring at a huge black wolf. He isn't really phased by the change anymore.
He threw a leg over and climbed on. Sam gave him a moment to relax before he felt his arms wrap strongly around his neck and his hands dig into his fur.
He started a slow jog so he could get used to it until he developed into a fast sprint and ran in between the trees. Jacob liked the feeling of the air flowing through his hair. He could hear Sam's heavy paws cracking branches and crushing leaves.
He felt very privileged at this moment.
* * * * *
When they reached Hunter's home, He could feel that he was still asleep as he climbed off Sam so he could change back. He gave him his t-shirt and climbed the steps.
Jacob was just about to knock but Sam opened the door and walked straight in, leaving him hesitating at the door.
Sam chuckled and walked over to their fridge.
"Good morning to my favourite family."
"Please, help yourself, Sam," Anthony chuckled sarcastically and shoved him away from the fridge.
Jacob quickly took off his shoes and hung his bag up. He was so desperate to be with Hunter. He felt ill because they had been separated for a long time.
"Hello Jacob," Margo beamed. "I'm sorry we didn't wake Hunter, he went to bed very late last night and he needs a lot of rest. But go wake him, he'll be happy you're here."
Jacob nodded and walked over to his room.
They all watched him enter and close the door behind him.
Jacob's eyes examined Hunter who was curled up under his duvet. He was still deep in sleep but he needed to feel his comforts so badly. He walked over and prodded his shoulder.
"Hunter?" He questioned. He didn't stir, not even a little bit. Jacob put more force into shaking him and said his name again.
Hunter took in a big breath of air and stretched his body. He relaxed back into his curled up position and still didn't open his eyes.
"Hunter?" Jacob questioned a little louder.
This caught his attention.
His eyes flickered open and he clumsily reached for his mate. He pulled him on top of him and wrapped his arms around his waist. Jacob's head fell into the crook of his neck while the bond settled.
"Sorry," Hunter said in his husky morning voice. Jacob's spine shivered, he loved it. "I didn't mean to sleep in so long."
"It's fine," He whispered back. He loved his warmth.
Hunter yawned and squeezed him tighter. His ribs hurt still but not as much as yesterday. However, he hasn't sat up yet.
"I really needed a lie in."
Jacob lifted his head and watched him rub his eyes. He wished that he could sleep next to him, just once. It was horrible to wake up feeling ill and sore.
"We will," Hunter stretched again as Jacob climbed off the bed and stood patiently. "It just depends on whether your parents will let you sleep here. I know for a fact if I sleep over at yours, your mum will make me sleep on the sofa."
"She would," Jacob smiled, melting Hunter's heart as usual.
Hunter then climbed out of bed and felt the mild pain in his ribs. But Jacob gasped and covered his eyes very quickly.
"Hunter!" He said urgently. "You don't have clothes on!"
The werewolf looked down to find himself naked. Most of the time, he gets too hot to sleep with clothes on.
A big grin made its way onto his face. He was not embarrassed. Werewolves have no shame and incredible amounts of body confidence, especially in front of their mates.
"Why are you covering your eyes?" He chuckled. "We're both men."
"Yes but... it's you."
Hunter walked over and pulled his hands away from his eyes. Jacob shut his eyes instead, making him laugh.
He stood closer and Jacob tried to turn but Hunter wouldn't let him.
"There's nothing to be shy about," He said smoothly. Jacob could feel his breath against his ear. He was very attracted to Hunter and seeing him naked would only make him embarrass himself. "You won't embarrass yourself, It's only natural."
Jacob didn't want anything to happen yet. He wasn't even ready to make out with him, let alone seeing him like this.
"You're so innocent," Hunter's lips delicately grazed over Jacob's earlobe, making him shudder. Hunter pulled on his hands and rested them on his stomach. Jacob felt the outline of his defined muscles and his skin was so warm. "I'm not even sorry that I'm slowly corrupting that."
Hunter leant his face against his and nibbled his ear.
Jacob couldn't take anymore, his emotions were too strong to hold back and it hit him like a tidal wave. Hunter watched his cheeks turn bright red and he looked down to see that he had completed his mission of filling his mate with affection.
Jacob felt so embarrassed but Hunter was very pleased with himself. There was nothing more satisfying than pleasuring his mate.
Jacob then quickly turned, he had to calm down.
Hunter rested his body against Jacob's back.
"I can take care of that for you?"
Jacob quickly shook his head.
"I'm not ready for this," He whispered. In all honesty, he had no idea what he was doing or how to take things further. He felt awkward and didn't really want to be in this situation.
"It's okay Jacob," Hunter stepped away. "It's completely fine to be clueless, nobody is born knowing what to do when they get to this stage. You should never feel embarrassed about it, not with me." He slowly put on some boxers and then some jeans.
Jacob could hear him getting dressed and opened his eyes. He managed to calm himself, just by how uncomfortable he was beginning to feel.
"I'm guessing that your parents haven't had the talk with you then?" Hunter smiled and crossed his arms when his bottom half was covered.
Jacob shook his head. He felt pathetic. He was seventeen and had no clue when it came to anything further than a kiss.
"I can talk you through it, it's fine," Hunter beamed and walked over. "I don't mind. And you're not pathetic, it's adorable, believe me."
Jacob knew he spoke the truth and he would rather have the talk with Hunter than his parents.
"Just to warn you now though... I like to sleep naked."
"It's a bit late for that," Jacob mumbled. He was beginning to feel more relaxed.
Hunter chuckled and took his hand.
"I'll warn you next time... maybe."
Jacob flashed him a look that Hunter would not like to see if his mate was actually angry.
"Okay, I will, will," He held his hands up with innocence. Jacob saw a glimpse of a deep purple colour below his chest.
"Why are you bruised?" He asked.
"Oh," Hunter moved his arms out of the way to see a nasty looking injury. "I broke a few ribs, it's nothing." He shrugged.
Jacob frowned and took his arm when he turned to leave.
"It's not just nothing. Are you in pain? How did you do it?" He looked concerned.
"It doesn't hurt that much," Hunter studied his deep chocolate eyes. "I'm clumsy, that's all."
Jacob narrowed his gaze and squeezed Hunter's arm when he tried to leave again.
"Please don't lie to me," He whispered.
Hunter sighed.
"We broke into Alisha's bedroom last night to get revenge but her pack came and caught us."
Jacob's eyes glanced down to his injury.
"Who hurt you?"
"Vic, the Alpha of the rival pack."
It made Jacob feel rather angry at the thought of someone causing him pain.
"You're quite a jealous little character aren't you?" He grinned and patted his head but Jacob moved away.
"And why did Brad get kicked out of the pack?"
Hunter knew Sam would have told him. He could smell that he was here.
"I'm only injured because he ran away when I shouted him for help. He embarrassed me in front of another Alpha. I've given him too many second chances."
Jacob nodded, showing that he understood.
"He looked upset at college today."
"Being my Delta wolf was the only good thing to happen to his family and his pride ruined it," Hunter sighed. There was a time when Brad was a great guy, he was happy, fair and kind. He wasn't quite sure what happened to him and why it took him so long to see it. He was a bit sad that Brad was out of the pack, they have been close friends for years.
"Maybe meet up with him and talk to him about why he has changed?" Jacob suggested. "It can't be for no reason."
"I think I should," Hunter smiled and stepped closer. "But for now, let's go make some food. I'm hungry and there's no point asking if you're hungry because you're never not hungry."
Jacob's eyes shined brightly.
Hunter gently ran a hand through his mate's hair and kissed his forehead. Jacob's senses went all tingly.
"I'm sorry I startled you with my exposed manliness," He chuckled. Jacob released a cute smile and started to fidget. But it wasn't due to nerves or anxiety, it was only out of habit this time.
"It's okay, I have a feeling I should get used to it," He had humour in his expression.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure that is not the last time I startle you like that," Hunter casually took his hand.
"Wait... what-"
Hunter grinned and pulled him out of the room. He loved how pure he is. He's untouched, unscathed. He was all his and he loved it. Nobody had kissed his mates lips with affection before him.
Hunter's heart enjoyed how he'll be Jacob's first, for everything.
