...
(Y/N)'s P.O.V
It took us a little to get Amelia to Ben's house, due to her injuries. She insisted on walking by herself, but a little way in, Delbert scooped her up bridal style and she was too weak to retaliate.
The sun had set further, and the sky gave off a beautiful gold color.
"Uh... Pardon the mess, people," I hear Ben sheepishly apologize from inside. "You'd think in a hundred years I would have dusted a little more often." I hear clutter being moved. "But, you know. When you're batchin' it... You tend to, uh, let things go."
Delbert carries Amelia inside and Jim jumps over the bottom part of the large circle. He turns and grabs my arm, helping me up and over.
"Aww! Isn't that sweet?" Ben coos at Delbert and Amelia. "I find old-fashioned romance so touching, don't you?"
I giggle at this as Delbert sets Amelia down, propped up against a rock.
"And you two! Isn't young love fantastic?!" Ben exclaims, pointing at me and Jim.
Jim and I blush and glance at each other with shy smiles.
"How about drinks for the happy couples?" Ben presents four mugs filled with... Acid and other mechanical parts that bubble.
Delbert looks at the drinks with a raised brow, "oh, uh. Ooh... Uh, no." Delbert takes off his red velvet coat, "thank you, we don't drink... And, uh, we're not a couple."
Delbert fondly looks at Amelia as she looks back up at him, making me shake Jim and muffle a squeal.
Delbert looks over at me before nervously clearing his throat, "ahem. Look at these markings," he changes the subject.
"They're identical to the ones on the map..." I notice, making Delbert nod in agreement.
"I suspect these are the hieroglyphic remnants of an ancient culture," Delbert continues as Jim looks around at the markings.
"Mr. Hawkins..." Amelia gasps out in pain. "Stop anyone that tries to approach. Ohh!" Amelia slumps back as she sits up.
"Yes, yes." Delbert sternly begins, folding his coat into a pillow and sitting it on the rock behind her head. "Now listen to me, stop giving orders for a few milliseconds and lie still." Delbert pushes her gently down.
"Very forceful, Doctor." Amelia says in a flirtatious tone, making Jim and I look at each other with raised brows. "Go on, say something else."
Delbert smiles at this, and I notice Ben looking over the side of the entrance.
I pad over and gasp.
"Hey, look!" Ben shouts loudly.
"Ben-- no!" I yell, but was too late.
"There's some more of your buddies! Hey fellas! We're over here, fellas!"
I scream when tons of blasts were fired our way and Jim grabs Ben and me, pulling us down to cover.
Jim blasts his pistol at some of the men, slowing them down.
"Stop wastin' yer fire!" I hear a familiar voice order, and Jim tenses.
He reloads his pistol as the blasts stop.
"Hello, up there!" Silver calls, making Jim and I peek over.
A small white flag is swayed from above a small lump of the hill.
"Lassie? Jimbo?" Silver calls. "If... Uh, it's all right with the Captain... I'd like a short word with the two of ya's."
Jim pulls me back down and looks over at Amelia as Silver continues.
"No tricks, just a little palaver."
"Come to bargain for the map, doubtless," Amelia groans out, a sneer on her face. She tries to stand, "pestilential..."
"Captain," Delbert warns as she slumps back.
"But that means... He thinks we still have it!" I say with realization, making everyone look at me.
"Very true, Miss (L/N)," Amelia coughs, and Jim and I nod to each other.
He hops outside and I jump out into his arms after, and he, of course, gracefully catches me and sets me down.
I pat his arm and kiss his cheek in thanks and we meet Silver halfway, but I refuse to look at him.
"Ah, Morphy! I wondered where you was off to," Silver fondly chuckles as Morph coos.
I hear Silver grunt as he sits down on a rock, and I look up to see him rubbing his cyborg leg.
"Oh... This poor old leg's downright snarky since that game of tag we had in the galley," Silver jokes in a musing tone.
Silver chuckles weakly and looks up, and his smile drops. He was obviously taken aback my both my heated glare and Jim's scowl.
Silver frowns and sighs, looking to his feet with a defeated frown.
"Whatever you two heard back there... At least the part concerning you both... I didn't mean a word of it," Silver speaks softly and stands from his rock, facing us with an earnest expression.
Jim's scowl doesn't let up, my expression uncertain as I remain close to Jim.
"Had the bloodthirsty lot thought I'd gone soft... They'd have gutted us all," Silver defends, pretending to rip his stomach open as he shakes his head.
Silver leans in closer to me and Jim grabs my arm, pulling me behind him. I peek over Jim as Silver continues.
"Listen to me. If we play our cards right... We can all walk away from this rich as kings and a queen!" Jim folds his arms over his chest as Silver says this, and I scoff.
Silver sits back down due to the pain in his leg.
Jim pretends to rub his chin, feigning interest, nudging me to follow his lead.
I slowly start smiling sweetly, "really?" I innocently ask, and Silver chuckles.
"Aye, Lassie! You two get that map and, uh..." Silver looks around to make sure his crew wasn't listening, "an even portion of the treasure is you guys-es."
He holds his hand out for Jim and I to shake, and my sweet smile drops to a look of disgust.
"You must be kidding," I sneer, and Jim shakes his head.
"Boy. You really are somethin'," Jim mumbles, and we slowly walk around the rock Silver was sitting on.
"All that talk of greatness..." Jim starts.
"Light coming off our sails?" I continue and roll my eyes.
"What a joke," Jim finishes with a snort.
"Now, just see here, Jimbo, Lassie--" I cut him off.
"I mean, at least you taught this 'blundering daft little orphan' and 'nose-wiping little welp' one thing," I mock, Silver's face falling with each word.
"Stick to it, right?" Jim finishes as Silver's face showed despair.
"And that's just what we're gonna do!" I stand next to Jim, and he wraps an arm around my shoulder.
"I'm gonna make sure you never see one drabloon of our treasure!" Jim firmly exclaims, making Silver quickly stand.
"That treasure is owed me, by thunder!" Silver bellows, making me flinch in fear and hide behind Jim.
"Well, try to find it without our map, by thunder!" Jim yells back, mocking Silver's accent.
Silver growls in irritation, "oh. You two still don't know how to pick your fights, do you, boy? Girl?" Jim and I glare at him as he glares back. "Now, mark me." Silver puts his hat back on, "either I get that map by dawn tomorrow..."
Morph looks between us, sadness clear on his face, mixed with fear at the malicious side his Master was showing.
"Or so help me, I'll use the ship's cannons to blast ya all to kingdom come!!" Silver roars, stomping his cyborg foot.
Silver and Jim square up face to face before he turns, pausing.
"Morph. Hop to it," Silver firmly growls, and Morph doesn't move.
"Now!" Silver bellows, making me gasp and cling tightly to Jim, who doesn't flinch.
Morph screams and snuggles into my neck, hiding under my hair.
Jim looks back at me to check on me, his glare softening at my shaken state before his lip curls into a snarl, glaring back to Silver.
I look over at Silver and he looks back at me, making me flinch and look away.
"Oh, blast it!" He growls, and I hear him limping away.
Jim looks back to me, gently hugging me in comfort before grabbing my hand and leading me back to Amelia and the others.
We didn't even notice Silver look back at us with a pained expression before continuing to his crew.
...
By now the sun had set, and Jim and I were watching Delbert tend to Amelia. I was keeping one eye on the ledge leading outside, feeling anxious about the pirates that were out there.
"Gentlemen... My lady... We must stay together and..." Amelia grips her casted arm in pain.
"And what? What?!" Delbert frantically asks. "We must stay together and what?!" He yanks off his glasses in the process of freaking out as he gazes down at Amelia.
"Delbert! Relax!" I exclaim with raised brows as Amelia groans.
Amelia notices his eyes and her ears perk, her eyes dilating a bit. "Doctor... You... Have wonderful eyes."
Delbert blinks for a moment and spins, facing me and Jim with a panicked expression.
"She's lost her mind!"
I can't help but let out a soft laugh at this, shaking my head with amusement and disbelief.
"You gotta help her!" Jim encourages, making Delbert scoff with a stressed expression.
"Dang it, Jim. I'm an astronomer, not a doctor! I mean, I am a doctor, but not that kind of doctor. I have a doctorate but it's not the same thing," Delbert rambles in a panic. "You can't help people with a doctorate. You just sit there and you're useless!"
"Delbert, it's okay!" I comfort as Jim follows suit.
"Yeah, Doc. It's okay," Jim nods, patting his back with a reassuring smile.
Delbert seemed surprised that Jim was trying to comfort him, until Ben interrupted.
"Yeah, Doc! Jimmy and (Y/N) knows exactly how to get out of this," Ben grins, making Jim and I look at each other with worry. Jim starts to pace as Delbert goes back to Amelia, and I stand near Jim.
"It's just-- Jimmy and (Y/N) have this knowledge of things," Ben continues reassuringly, nodding to Delbert.
Jim and I look over the ledge. He runs an aggravated hand through his hair and I rub his back, making him smile tiredly at me.
"Psst! (Y/N), Jim, any thoughts at all?" Ben questions, whispering as he throws a reassuring grin towards Delbert before facing us.
I look back up to the R.L.S Legacy, "Well. If they find out we don't have the map... We're dead."
Jim looks down to where Silver and his crew were camped, a faint fire glow in the woods.
"If we try to leave, we're dead..." Jim continues in agreement, sighing.
"And if we stay here--"
Morph cheerfully interrupts me. "We're dead! We're dead! We're dead!"
Jim and I sigh heavily, and he wraps an arm around my shoulders, making me lean my head on his shoulder. He places a gentle kiss on the top of my head and rubs my arm, my eyebrows furrowed in thought.
"Well... I think that Jimmy and (Y/N) could use a little quiet time, heh," Ben nervously laughs, "so I'll just slip out the back door."
Jim and I both freeze, looking up at each other and I raise a brow.
"Back door?" Jim questions, and we both turn to Ben.
"Oh, yeah!" Ben grunts, shoving a sphere like mechanism. Jim and I race over and watch as light pools in. "I get this delightful breeze through here, which I think is important!" The sphere turned fully to reveal a secret hole, leading down. "Because ventilation among friends--"
"What is all this stuff?" I interrupt his rambling, making Ben look down.
"You mean the miles and miles of machinery that run through the entire course of the inside of the planet?" Ben answers before he shrugs, "not a clue!"
"Hey, Doc, Doc! I think I found a way out of here!" Jim yells to Amelia and Delbert.
Jim stands over the hole and I step up next to him,"you are so not leaving me here."
He smirks at me and grabs my waist, pulling me to his chest, "wouldn't dream of it."
"No, (Y/N), Jim, wait. The Captain ordered us to stay--"
Ben leaps in first, and just before Jim and I leap down I hear Delbert sigh.
"Woof."
...
Another chapter up, baby!
We are kinda close to the end... *sobs*
I was thinking about the next story to write, and I'm kind of leaning towards either
Male Merida x Reader (following the movie Brave except he has feelings for you and goes against his mother for himself and for you)
Or possibly a Sinbad x Reader (dreamswork)
If you have any suggestions, let me know!
Fare thee well, Lovelies! ðâ¤
